This is such a strange feeling for me as I have never missed a new iPhone since day one as I have always upgraded on the main years, i.e. 4, 5, 6, but for the first time decided to sit out and wait for next year. Will miss tracking my shipments, hugging the UPS guy and unpacking the little white box that made September feel like Christmas!

Done at Verizon, roughly 10:30 AM. Black 7, 128. "Delivers 9/23." So it slipped one week overnight. I'm hoping they beat 9/23 by at least a few days..

well, it technically isn't. it's about $30 more expensive over 2 years, but since i'm a college student, i cant afford to drop over $800 on a phone and case. my mom still pays my phone bill during the school year so it works out pretty well for me.

Depends. Family plans allow you to play around with lines. I simply added another tablet line, and cancelled the ipad line that just came off contract...tablet lines are 10 a month. My iphone line remains at 15 a month. So it doesn't cost me any more. Selling old phone pays for this one. I bought a few others as well to flip on ebay. Should make around 1k. Verizon waives upgrade fees. Kids use the data sims.

You all do realize you don't have to pay 40 a month device fees right? Convert them to a tablet or smartdevice line that same day. Keep a line off contract for your phone.

I really wanted to try out the jet black, but I too put mine in a case. Videos show it shows fingerprints like crazy, I'm curious as to wear and scratches, like stuff that gets between the case and phone over time. I don't use a completely sealed case like an Otterbox, I use Magpul cases so stuff can get back there.

Just set a calendar reminder to take off the case regularly and rinse the accumulated bits and sand out which are likely to scratch any surface.

Australians... we're so mean!
A majority of the people in this video weren't sympathetic to this guy's situation. Either that or everyone was so astonished with what just happened, the only thing they could do was laugh. True it comes across as mean and not well spirited.

Store was down for me until 3:11am on the iPhone app and website. It finally came up and I went through the ordering process for a verizon jet black 7+ 128

hit continue button after I entered credit card info and my power blinked (which also meant modem blinked off), which caused an error on the processing.

power went out completely, causing my battery backup to my iMac to start beeping incessantly. Had to take care of that first to shut it up before waking everyone up, which meant shutting down computer that had a million things running. Got back on my phone to order, in the dark, and finally went through at about 3:35am

Estimated ship date: November.... friend ordered the same phone this morning, also November. I got up at 3am for nothing!

Man, that sucks. Does your power come from Samsung Utility Company? Or maybe someone with a Note 7 lives near you and their phone caught fire and burned up a power pole. That's just freaky bad timing you had there.

i'm on the Apple upgrade program (pay apple a monthly fee and can replace the iphone every year). i'm on t-mobile but they didn't have any pre-orders for t-mobile so i ordered one for verizon. i know the verizon phone will work on t-mobile's network - but my question is will apple activate it on t-mobile instead of version. does anyone know?

I pre-ordered the wrong phones. 2 Regular 7's 32GB when they should've been 128GB. I submitted 1 order through apple and 1 through att. I'm on hold with apple right now.

What's the probability they'll be able to switch the order?

I dont think the Apple store was late opening. Every year I have the Apple site open and the ATT site. Every year, ATT is taking orders before Apple.

I think this has to do with how the web server changes propagate out. It appears to me that those on the west coast get it before those on the east coast, and that is why there are sellouts.

ATT is east coast bound, like me, and I never seem to have an issue getting the order done and a phone on launch day. The only issue with ATT is that I cannot buy Applecare. I call Apple on Launch day and but it.

I would say very low, but you never know.

I’m going to wait for the 8 next year. They’ll probably add some really exciting features since its the 10 year anniversary. Before I used to upgrade every 2 years because I was always unhappy with the speed or storage, but I have an iPhone 6 with 64 GB and and its plenty fast for what I do so I’ll stick with it.

For the 8 they're going to remove the speaker and replace it with a tin-can string dongle.

2h20m on hold and counting. They play the same damn song over and over.
Apple! You have Apple Music. Play more songs. And certainly not a song about waiting to die! "It's 11:59 and 59 seconds..." Over and over and over. Are you trying to drive your customers to suicide?

They probably do that on purpose in the hopes you'll just hang up.

After getting tired of waiting for the Apple Store to come online last night, I popped over to Best Buy to see what they had going on. Had a Black 7 128GB reserved for in store pickup at 8am Friday 3 minutes later. I haven't picked up from BBY on launch day since the original iPad Mini, but they usually offer Reward Member bonuses when you activate through them, plus they are five minutes away versus across town like the Apple Store. I may end up regretting it but hey, you only live once right?

Haha never forget

God that hurts my soul everytime I watch it. I really hope the Genius Bar cut the kid some slack and replaced his screen for free. Yeah it was boneheaded but he was just so excited. I was the same way when I got my very first iPhone, the 3G way back when after standing in line for 6 hours with some friends. Thankfully I have a better grip than him :)

In your experience, if the Apple site says the model you want is unavailable for pickup, does it pay to just get in line on launch day?

Mine is already preparing
Charged

The fewer details you have your heart set on the better your chances of getting your iPhone early. My only MUST HAVE was 7+ instead of 7, otherwise I was fine with 32gb and any color so I got an order for my silver 32gb due next Friday, and it's preparing for shipment now.

Good luck to others with dates further out, I hope you get a pleasant surprise the latter part of next week!

People want that dual camera!
Heh! They want the Jet Black! When I showed my husband a picture of it, his response was: "Ooooh." I don't know if Apple could have made enough of them to meet demand.

But yes, I also think that dual camera is very much coveted and Apple will probably sell a lot more "Pluses" this year. But from what I'm seeing, the majority of buyers, 7 plus or regular, are going for that Jet Black. It's going to be the "must have" phone color for 2017 :D
