I ordered two series 3 Apple Watches this go around, both of which I was able to track by reference. They made it to the international UPS hub in Louisville early this morning and should, based on past preorders with Apple, leave Louisville tonight and head to my local hub by morning. It's a shame they will sit there until Friday, what a tease. Unless they will sit in Louisville until closer to Friday.

Hopefully the iPhone X launch will go this smoothly.

Apple is pretty specific when it comes to receiving launch day items early. It can happen, but they are fairly firm with carriers when the items are to be delivered.

Also, as far as the iPhone X launch is concerned, I think it will go smooth, but I also think it's going to be a very quick process back ordering within minutes.

I am going to be ordering an X, but I did try to do a mock order and noticed, an order placed now, I could pick up an 8+ on the 22nd at an of the 5 apple stores in twin cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul, MN. Either the bulk of the orders will be for X here or the iPhone upgrade cycle is cooling as prices have gone up or people are just not impressed with the incremental improvements.
Though lower demand is one explanation, it's not necessarily the correct one; Apple may have had a greater quantity of iPhone 8 ready for shipment this cycle. But I do think the pre-order crowd prefers the X over the 8, and presumably Apple would likely anticipate that. So I'm sure they're trying to build as sufficient inventory of X as they have for 8.

In any case, I assume this will forever put an end to the poorly thought out theories, continually posted by certain forum members, claiming that Apple deliberately holds back supply to create artificial scarcity (to stimulate demand). Anyone with a rudimentary knowledge of business knows Apple would absolutely prefer to have sufficient supply, at every SKU, to satisfy the demand.

Unfortunately they can't predict the exact mix of quantities demanded at each and every SKU. To the extent their estimates are wrong--combined with a slower than planned production ramp and any other problems building inventory)--customers will have to wait past the release date. Some can't/won't wait, and will end up buying a competitor's phone, which costs Apple much more than just the profit on the phone.

Is there a chance some iPhones get delivered before friday? I bought mine here in Europe, of course unlocked, so i don't see any reason they should delay it until friday. Or am i being hopeful?

I think you are right. I guess many iPhone + customers are waiting for X and in general the one you call the "pre-order crowd" of Apple enthusiasts should be interested in X.
Although they have plenty of time to build inventory for X is easy to predict it will be really hard to get at launch day, we can't expect to have the same pre order experience of iPhone 8 next month.

Nothing has happened with my Apple TV 4K as of yet, but I suppose European customers normally see their orders shipped later in the week compared to US ones as we don't have to wait for the plane to go over the Atlantic ocean etc..

In order to get my order in as fast as possible I forgot to change the delivery address to my work address. I would normally prefer to do this as I'm not always able to grab it at the hours they deliver. I notice I can change the address on my order, but I'm somewhat afraid that doing so will cause some kinds of delay? Do anyone have experience with changing the address on orders that are under handling?

I would not take a chance to change the address at this point.

If these orders arrive on launch day, I'm not lining up for the X (if I order).
judging by these threads, e v e r y b o d y is waiting on the X
;)

i kinda think Apple has made this year's iPhone launch last 2 months instead of a couple of weeks.
not even 1 percent of people who pre order come on these threads

Watch when folks get the 8 in a few days.

They gonna be like it's the same phone as the 7 and 6S they've already had.

Barely any difference.
Barely.
you know ****.. 6 to 6 s 6 s to 7 now idiots wanna act like they know something

it looks the same except the back thats it

I think it's safe to say the 8 and 8 plus won't sell out. It's still available for in store pickup as well. Should have plenty physically on hand for walk ins too. And when the X is ready that will only help the stock of the 8 amd 8 plus even more!

I don't get it. What difference does it make who chooses what phone they want? I chose an iPhone 8 Plus because that is my preference. Why does it matter what I want and what fits my needs? Who cares if the change over a year is minimal? Why does this bother so many people on this forum?

Want an iPhone 8? get it
Want an iPhone 8+? get it
Want an iPhone X? by all means, GET IT!!

Legit question, who really cares what phone you have?

They gonna be like I miss my home button, why’s the top of my screen so weird, and did I really just pay $1K for animojis?

The iphone 8 is a dud, that's what you get for using such an old design. Maybe Apple will stop taking its customers for granted on the next update.

I guess the four people that ordered it are happy they getting their's early! Enjoy :)

My iPhone is sitting in a warehouse in Harrisburg PA. They are of course waiting until Friday to deliver it to me. Frustrating since I am only about 200 miles away!
Or you can go pick up an iPhone 7 today that’s essentially the same phone and costs less money.

This. It's because we live in the social media world where people (I've been guilty of it) feel the need to spout their opinion.

In reality, the same schtick applies to any purchase decision we make. Folks wonder why I won't drive a North American truck. I drive Toyotas. They just run. Rarely any issues. Or people question why I use a Logitech trackball for a mouse (although I've recently switched to the Apple trackpad and I'm getting the hang of it).

Life's too short. If you want it, if you need it, if you can afford it*, get it.

* this is the part that may bother alot of folks. Maybe they're upset that folks like you and I just buy things. Maybe those folks think that if the 'sheep' would just not purchase the devices, that Apple would truly innovate new features and/or lower the prices.

For me, I've been 'meh' about the new features.

But then again, ANY of these phones are simply amazing devices for what they can do. It's quite ridiculous that I can be out in the woods and receive an email about work then most times, I'm able to answer. (I work from home and run a own business with my wife). Incredible! Or the photos....the quality of these cameras is mind blowing.

Which is why I might jump to the 8+. lol I'm on a 6 and I hear the 7+ camera is pretty spanky so I can imagine what the new one is like.

Cheeers,
Brian

they may be shipping out but it doesn't mean we'll get them early. Generally they hold them at the local delivery warehouse until launch day. In case anyone cares after thinking about it and seeing the comparisons, I cancelled my iPhone 8+ preorder. I remembered how much I hate that form factor. So I'll probably end up getting the X or just waiting. My 6s is good enough.

The iPhone 8 has a better camera, Bionic A11 chip, wireless charging, True Tone display, portrait lighting(+).

I mean, what did the 7 have over the 6s? I’d beg to argue the 8 is just as much of a step up, if not more, than the 6s to the 7.

You might get it sooner, that's been known to happen.
Probably not, but you never know. From my experience, the 'thrill' of a new phone lasts about 1/2 hour after getting it and then it sinks in that it is pretty much the same thing as before (and I'll throw the X into this as well) and you get back on with the day. I'm not knocking it, mine shows up Friday too. Point is, I'd rather get it when everyone else gets theirs to sort of share the experience rather than go it alone on Thursday and be ho-hum of Friday when everyone else is peaking. Like Christmas morning (or a good concert  ) you need to TIME these things. :D
