I really wish mine would show up early or they would let me get it from the hub that's 10mins away. I fly out of town the night of the 21st. I tried everything to get them to ship it to my destination but there was nothing they could do. They can't change shipping on the upgrade program. First time in a new town I really wanted to put the new camera through its paces on the 8+ I think its going to be a huge upgrade over my 7. :(

How can you tell if yours is shipped? I have the ups app...

I'm already pissed off at the iPhone x, I've done some research and can't keep the same cell plan... need to update it to a premium plan! You all might want to look into your plans ahead of time

I'm on AT&T, and I'm grandfathered into a plan they don't carry anymore. So when I upgrade, the available options (or at least the ones they advertise) are get 10 GB/month for $30/month more than I pay now, or 3 GB (half of what I have now) for $5 less than what I pay now. I considered the unlimited option with HBO, but it's more than twice what I pay now, and I don't know how much I'd actually watch any of their shows.

Is it economy delivery? 4 days from China it's quite slow

You're shipping millions of items (3 different phones, AT4K, and how many watches) to millions of destinations all over the world....I don't know about you but thats not something I leave to that last minute...it's easier to send it to a hub and say 'hey, shoot this out on Friday"

This seems like it is splitting the launch dates for the iPhone this year and hopefully making this a better experience for the customer. Add in that there will be a full month of sales of the 8 in the store which will grab a bunch more customers, we may not see a crazy launch night for the iPhone X. Personally, I'm leaning that way, but I do think the 8 will have grabbed a bunch of customers. I mean it is the same processor, so it will run iOS just as well. So why pay the extra $300 of the 8? For me, I'm doing it for the dual camera setup without having to pocket the Plus. But if you don't mind the Plus size, then the X offers less benefit for that extra $200.

Of course we don't know how constrained the X supply will be. The supply constraints might result in this being a disaster for customers.
[doublepost=1505738694][/doublepost]

Right. The servers should be a bit stronger then last year, the system further refined due to lessons learned, but the number of folks pre-ordering should be less due to folks that bought the 8. So while there may be serious supply constraints, that isn't the same as the process getting bogged down. So we should be able to log in and place our order and promptly get our disappointing email.

Yeah hoping to get the exciting not disappointing email when I order my X, but as long as I get it before end of year I won't die I have my 7Plus in meantime. And if delays are horrible then I may wait for X-Plus next fall and just have my 7 paid for so several choices. I really want to try the "x" technology and am pretty certain I will order one but we will see on the 27th ;-)

If I'm not mistaken, a package shipped "overnight" that is traveling west-to-east, e.g. China to the US, will take (2) days to arrive. They are going against the time zones, if that makes sense.

Going the opposite direction, east-to-west, is "easier". I have product shipped from Belgium all the time and Fedex picks up the goods from BE before I get to work in the US. By 1pm or so my time, it's on a plane bound for Memphis, Newark NJ, etc.

That was my exact thinking.

Tangent alert: I did a cruise that left from Sydney, Australia. They had a two day 'stowaway' (in keeping with talk like a pirate day) and we had to do some rather embarrassing mental arithmetic to figure out when we had to leave to get there on the first day of the stowaway. But apparently some people screwed it up, and had to catch a flight to the next port of call as they messed up the calculation. Some barely made it too. It's only a date line...

It's looking pretty clear that most are waiting for the X. I'm going with the 8+ after using my 6s for two years. I woke up at 3 a.m to order, but then realized I could have easily ordered with no issue that morning. I was tempted by the X, but I figure I can wait a year for the Xs (maybe X Series 2?). That way, consumers can figure out what they like/don't like about the phone and Apple can make some nice upgrades to it.

I have a. nice 7Plus 256GB and thought the same -- wait for the X plus next fall and any further improvement but since I am on the Apple Upgrade program and enjoy the phones more these days than my MacBook, iPad and I unfortunately LOL watched too many further demos of the X and got interested LOL. So going to try to order it I am on the plan and I kind of like Apples plan better than my former carrier plans for upgrade. So I might as well use it and play with the tech most of interest to me lately ;-). But of course if the doom and gloom crowd is right and they still will be in very short supply then I may have to wait til next fall (and my phone will be paid for) and see if the X plus (with more features) is a reality or not ;-)

So at moment plan is to order a X on my upgrade plan, but we will see how quickly they sell out or how well apple has planned for the end of October craziness ;-). Always an interesting ride LOL

Out of topic, RE: Apple Watch 3 LTE (AW3.LTE). [Do understand the pre-requisites. But my questions are about behavior]

ASSUMPTION:
Both, iPhone and AW3.LTE are connected to the cellular carrier (i.e. show the carrier's strength signal):

QUESTIONS:
1. For Incoming calls:
1a. Both, iPhone and AW3.LTE "ring"? OR
1b. Only one "rings"? What determines the priority order?
2. For Outgoing calls:
2a. Both, iPhone and AW3.LTE can dial out, independently (to distinct called numbers)? OR
2b. Only one can be active at one time?
No clue how a subscriber's shared calling number is virtualized and rendered bidirectionally on the carrier.
[If this has been answered before, can you provide a link?]

All these people saying it's the same phone.

Other than design and screen tweaks, what specific things do you want from your phone? I mean, I think this product has plateaued.

I said that about my first BMW in 1996. I was like wow! This car has everything thing. Looking back now it was "stripped," underpowered, and inefficient compared to my current one. There will always be something better to come along. The smartphone is still young. The functionality of the 3GS isn't much different than the 8 or X, the 8 and X is just vastly more refined and improved.

OLED will be huge (for iphone). I know it's been in the android world awhile, but along with increased resolution it's more than just a screen tweak. I'm not sure Apple has sold it enough but with initial demand they don't really need to.

AR should be interesting although i'm not too interested in the games but other kinds of apps. This will probably take a while to develop though.

Front cameras and 3D sensing is interesting as well although i don't really take selfies.

Software is really where it can be pushed. We're still waiting for Apple's answer to MS and surface pencil. I'd like to use the iphone with pencil for a wacom like device with mac. I'm thinking next year may be that with a larger iphone X.

I do realize many want the X because it looks different. Once they got it, it's back to facebook and snapping pics and they probably couldn't care less about OLED, resolution or any of that stuff. Apple knows it's the emoji and AR that will sell to them.

While I like the X and its OLED that did not sell me with apples demo. What did were further analysis on the rear and front camera. I like that both dual cameras have image stabilization and I can do much better with them in low light than I am doing with my 7Plus 256 GB

I also like the things you can do with the front camera in terms of similar features I do (plus more) with my 7 Plus now. So the camera (as it did with the 7Plus) pushed me over.

I do agree software is reaching a plateau, yes there will be a few things, but I am starting to see all phones are reaching that level and sometimes having too many features is overwhelming and not always utilized ;-). I also am not a gamer but I like the Augmented Reality with things like the astronomy app they showed placing the stars on the scene in front of you rather than just a line for your horizon -- and in those areas it does interest me as the scientific type.

Ultimately in one review I saw from a Camera person the phones -- X especially and 8plus and * are getting to point that they do much of what DSLR's do (my like) so you don't have to carry your big DLSR around most of time. And in some areas doing more than many DSLR's, so for me my area is the cameras that drive my interest the most and whether I will upgrade my iPhones each year or not. I suppose eventually that will plateau also.

Don't know about 1. but would assume it's user definable just like when you choose whether to have your Mac or iPad ring or show messages.

On 2. I'd assume both are true since you are sharing the same #. Probably works same as a multiple landline phones in a home on same extension.

As a stockholder, I'm happy as well!

You shouldn't be until actual sales are known. If X is wildly popular but can't be had that does zero for Apple's profits which is what we care about as shareholders. Preorder sellouts tell us nothing without numbers behind them. Too soon for us to celebrate. Certainly AAPL has taken a pause lately, unsure if Apple's ability to deliver on at least the whisper numbers.

Watch when folks get the 8 in a few days.

They gonna be like it's the same phone as the 7 and 6S they've already had.

Barely any difference.
Barely.

97% of people buy a phone when their previous one gets old. So they don't really notice or care.

Also, implying people are stupid and don't know what they buy is really dumb.

You're probably right. Coming from an SE, though, it should be a substantial difference.

You should just choose a plan based on how much data you use each month. I am on the 10GB plan with
four devices ($122.40)/month. It has the rollover feature also and sometime I have as much as 16GB for use each month but I be lucky if I use 3GB a month. Unlimited sounds great, but I think only people who can really take advantage of it should use it. The throw in of HBO is more of a value if you have DirecTV SAT, where they charge you, what $15.00/month. On DirectV NOW HBO is $5.00/month. Basically you just have choose your plan to fit your needs and avoid over paying for a plan in which you won't get the full value from.

judging by these threads, e v e r y b o d y is waiting on the X
What's going to be really "fun" is about 10 minutes after the order window opens for the X, the MR front page article about the order window opening is going to be flooded with hundreds of outraged posts saying, "FEBRUARY?!? $!#^$%& MY PHONE ISN'T SHIPPING UNTIL %$!^* FEBRUARY!!1!"

Right. I think we are saying the same thing. To clarify my post, either the AW or iPhone can initiate the call. Once the line is in use the device not being used is inactive to make a call. So that would make both of OP's #2 conditions true, not either or: either can be used to dial out THEN only one is active.

Checking the reference with a mobile phone number only works for US numbers, right? If not, I can't get any results, and tried multiple formats of my UK number.
