i kinda think Apple has made this year's iPhone launch last 2 months instead of a couple of weeks.

Not everyone...my 8+ gets here Friday. I plan on waiting for all the goodies to filter down to the poor mans iPhone in the next few years...

Watch when folks get the 8 in a few days.

They gonna be like it's the same phone as the 7 and 6S they've already had.

Barely any difference.
Barely.

Yep, once you get past the obvious attempts to get the user addicted to today's carpetbaggers, like Facebook, google, snapchat, etc, its just a phone.

Forum did wind down since the 6 launch. There was a lot more hype and conversation, maybe that will happen with the x though.

This seems like it is splitting the launch dates for the iPhone this year and hopefully making this a better experience for the customer. Add in that there will be a full month of sales of the 8 in the store which will grab a bunch more customers, we may not see a crazy launch night for the iPhone X. Personally, I'm leaning that way, but I do think the 8 will have grabbed a bunch of customers. I mean it is the same processor, so it will run iOS just as well. So why pay the extra $300 of the 8? For me, I'm doing it for the dual camera setup without having to pocket the Plus. But if you don't mind the Plus size, then the X offers less benefit for that extra $200.

Of course we don't know how constrained the X supply will be. The supply constraints might result in this being a disaster for customers.

Apple is pretty specific when it comes to receiving launch day items early. It can happen, but they are fairly firm with carriers when the items are to be delivered.

Also, as far as the iPhone X launch is concerned, I think it will go smooth, but I also think it's going to be a very quick process back ordering within minutes.

Right. The servers should be a bit stronger then last year, the system further refined due to lessons learned, but the number of folks pre-ordering should be less due to folks that bought the 8. So while there may be serious supply constraints, that isn't the same as the process getting bogged down. So we should be able to log in and place our order and promptly get our disappointing email.

My accessories shipped for delivery on the 20th, but the 256 silver shows overnight FedEx shipping, and hasn't shipped yet. It appears that it's probably from a US location as overnight from China would be very expensive and logistically hard to pull off (I'd imagine).

All these people saying it's the same phone.

Other than design and screen tweaks, what specific things do you want from your phone? I mean, I think this product has plateaued.

And the plateau is pretty much 'carved in stone'.

At some point people need to realize that there really isn't much more that a phone can do that would make it less of a hot mess. I mean:

  • TV remote? Done.
  • Home automation remote? Done.
  • Personal assistant? Done.
  • Video creation device? Done.
  • Music creation device? Done.
  • Personal jukebox? Done.
  • Your plastic pal who's fun to be with? Well, it's glass now, and does somehow fall short, but, done?
  • Perfect way to annoy your neighbors on a transcon flight? Done.

It's looking pretty clear that most are waiting for the X. I'm going with the 8+ after using my 6s for two years. I woke up at 3 a.m to order, but then realized I could have easily ordered with no issue that morning. I was tempted by the X, but I figure I can wait a year for the Xs (maybe X Series 2?). That way, consumers can figure out what they like/don't like about the phone and Apple can make some nice upgrades to it.

Uh.... shouldn’t that say Apple, Inc.?
[doublepost=1505707688][/doublepost]But when is my iPhone X going to ship? That’s the question.
No, just about every order I've received from Apple has that as the sender. I'm thinking it has to do with security and safety of the package. It would have a higher chance of being stolen from the truck or front porch I think if it actually said it was from Apple.

Yeah, me too. And I didn't see what the strum and drang about the cost was, considering the 256 8+ was pushing 1k. Let the drama settle down. See if Apple has to recall all of them because of a flaw. I don't want a phone with drama. If I had, I'd have bought a Samsung personal hand warmer... (Arrrrg!)

Can confirm, just checked by phone number! My 32 GB 4K TV is coming from Shen Zen and arrived in Hong Kong this morning at 1 AM EST

OLED will be huge (for iphone). I know it's been in the android world awhile, but along with increased resolution it's more than just a screen tweak. I'm not sure Apple has sold it enough but with initial demand they don't really need to.

AR should be interesting although i'm not too interested in the games but other kinds of apps. This will probably take a while to develop though.

Front cameras and 3D sensing is interesting as well although i don't really take selfies.

Software is really where it can be pushed. We're still waiting for Apple's answer to MS and surface pencil. I'd like to use the iphone with pencil for a wacom like device with mac. I'm thinking next year may be that with a larger iphone X.

I do realize many want the X because it looks different. Once they got it, it's back to facebook and snapping pics and they probably couldn't care less about OLED, resolution or any of that stuff. Apple knows it's the emoji and AR that will sell to them.

Is there a chance some iPhones get delivered before friday? I bought mine here in Europe, of course unlocked, so i don't see any reason they should delay it until friday. Or am i being hopeful?

Hopeful. The official launch is Friday. That's when it'll arrive unless your carrier makes an error.

My iPhone is sitting in a warehouse in Harrisburg PA. They are of course waiting until Friday to deliver it to me. Frustrating since I am only about 200 miles away!
Lol last year mine was sitting at the store two days before release day, they couldn't release it to me... 5 mins away lol

If i did the Upgrade program and chose to pick up in store, will my status ever change from Order in Progress? Tax has already been charged to my card

Interesting that my SIM free model 8 is coming from China. not already in the states. I ordered at 3:04am. First time that's happened to me. It's in Alaska right now. It also says Protek, not AI like usual. Weird year.

They made it to the international UPS hub in Louisville early this morning and should, based on past preorders with Apple, leave Louisville tonight and head to my local hub by morning. It's a shame they will sit there until Friday, what a tease. Unless they will sit in Louisville until closer to Friday.
It's much more likely that they will sit in Louisville - a LOT more room there. More 'control' there too. UPS may have these packages secured in a locked area.

If I'm not mistaken, a package shipped "overnight" that is traveling west-to-east, e.g. China to the US, will take (2) days to arrive. They are going against the time zones, if that makes sense.

Going the opposite direction, east-to-west, is "easier". I have product shipped from Belgium all the time and Fedex picks up the goods from BE before I get to work in the US. By 1pm or so my time, it's on a plane bound for Memphis, Newark NJ, etc.

The first iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, Apple TV 4K, and Apple Watch Series 3 orders began shipping out to customers today ahead of a promised delivery date on Friday, September 22, the official launch date for all of the devices.

Apple hasn't updated its order statuses from "Preparing for Shipment" just yet, but packages shipping via UPS are already in transit and can be tracked using a UPS My Choice account or in some cases, by reference number on the UPS website after inputting a phone number associated with an order.

As MacRumors forum members have discovered, many iPhone 8 and 8 Plus devices are shipping from Pennsylvania, while some Apple Watch and Apple TV 4K orders are coming from China. Official shipment notifications from Apple should start going out soon. Not all orders are trackable just yet.

Pre-orders for the three devices started on Friday, September 15 at 12:01 a.m. Pacific Time, and initial orders shifted to preparing for shipment across Friday night and Saturday afternoon.

While newly released iPhone models often sell out following pre-orders, supplies of the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus are plentiful. SIM-free and some T-Mobile models are listing shipping dates of one to two weeks for home delivery, but are readily available for in-store pickup. Other models remain in stock.

Launch day supplies in retail stores around the world should also be largely available, and the traditional stock shortages and long lines that we generally see before an iPhone launch aren't likely to happen with the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus.

As for the Apple Watch Series 3 with cellular functionality, that's harder to come by. LTE Series 3 Apple Watches have largely sold out at this point and won't ship out for a good three to four weeks. Non-LTE models remain in stock.

The new Apple TV 4K is also a bit more limited than the new iPhone models, and orders placed now won't be delivered until October, with the 64GB model harder to come by than the 32GB model.

The first Apple Watch Series 3, Apple TV 4K, and iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus orders will begin arriving to customers on Friday, September 22, with customers in Australia and New Zealand being the first to get their hands on the new devices.
