Why is there always someone who brings this up... No, no and no - Apple is a worldwide company and since the launch date is same for everyone this time, then the only fair way to treat customers is on the first come, first serve basis.
Actually, logic would dictate that they be delivered to China first since they are built and packaged there but Apple and shippers artificially hold early deliveries until the official ship date arrives.

I thought they sent them to California for a final sprinkle of pixie dust before letting them out into the wild?
So technically they should send it to ME in LA first. Get on it Apple.

Did I mess up by choosing store pickup? Am I reserved one for that day for certain? The shipping had already slipped to 2-3 weeks when the website finally started working but it said I could reserve one for 11/3 at my local store and pickup a time to pick it up. I went that route. I'm sure others have asked and discussed as well.

Just to clear up the facts - Apple is an American company with their HQ in Cupertino CA a.k.a "Mothership Campus" with a global customer base. The only reason why there is a shell HQ in Ireland is so that Apple can get out of paying the full corporate tax they owe in the US.
Just to clarify some of those ‘facts’... Apple has been based in Ireland since 1980, long before it became the behemoth it is today. Also, it currently employs over 6,000 people here. Not quite a shell HQ, I think. And, yes, it is most certainly an American company, through and through. But it does have a global reach and a global workforce, too.

My phone orders have all been drop shipped directly from China according to tracking info. I doubt that Apple is opening them all up and then re-sealing millions of phones for what?

One stupid comment and this entire thread turns angry.

Congrats to those getting their iPhones early. I live in the U.S., I'll be waiting 2-3 weeks, and I'm content to wait like everyone else.

I’m surprised you are so calm about it. I’m more than annoyed about my 10 day waiting time because they f it up. The store wasn’t available at the pre-order time for 5 min.

Good additional details. But let's not pretend Apple opened up offices in Ireland to create those 6,000 jobs and that the 14.5B in back taxes to the EU and estimated 66B in back taxes to the US where just a lucky windfall.

Shouldn't American pre-orders be processed before everyone else?

No it should go by the world clock thus Australia and NZ are the most ahead in the world they should logically receive shipments first as they normally have.

My US iPhone X just switched!

Mine is “Preparing for Shipment” here in the US too. I ordered a 256GB Silver AT&T iPhone X with AppleCare+ via Apple Store Online at 3:03AM EST.

Funny how Europe uses “Preparing for Dispatch” and my US order says “Preparing for Shipment”
