I was totally expecting not to be able to get a phone on launch day and I must say this was one of the easiest ordering experiences I've had! NO KIDDING! And I order every year. I got my order in for 64 ATT silver on Apple App at 3:05 and confirmation email at 3:07. Credit card charged and now preparing for shipping. It has never been this easy for me EVER! SOOOO Surprised!

Did I mess up by choosing store pickup? Am I reserved one for that day for certain? The shipping had already slipped to 2-3 weeks when the website finally started working but it said I could reserve one for 11/3 at my local store and pickup a time to pick it up. I went that route. I'm sure others have asked and discussed as well.

No, you're fine. Just be there on time, and you'll get your phone.

Oh don't get me wrong, I use my credit cards to buy EVERYTHING. Throwing away points is throwing away free money. ;-) Even when I buy a car I finance it and pay it off within the first 60 days. You always get a better deal to finance, and can pay it off immediately.

It's absolutely happened to me before. I think you'll get it sooner than you expect. Remember, they don't pre-charge peoples' cards... so there will be those orders that decline and cancel, and some who have the 1-2 weeks who end up getting one in store on launch day, or people who have multiple orders contemplating which they want who will cancel. I think last year iPhone 7 Plus I was in the 3-4 week batch and got it 3-4 days after launch.

In that I 100% agree with you. Paying off credit cards every month and reaping all the rewards benefits is one of the best kept financial secrets.

The first iPhone X pre-order customers have begun noting in the MacRumors forums that their orders recently moved to the "preparing for shipment/dispatch" stage. These users are located in Europe, and will be among the first to get the iPhone X in their hands, with deliveries promised to arrive on launch day next Friday, November 3. As of writing, no movement on order statuses has been made for customers in the United States.

iPhone X pre-orders began at 12:01 a.m. Pacific Time on October 27, and shipping estimates began slipping into 2-3 week delivery windows in a matter of minutes. Now, new orders for most models of the iPhone X sit at a 5-6 week delivery estimate. Apple has described demand for the iPhone X as "off the charts."

Orders that are now updated to "preparing for shipment" status should begin shipping out to customers over the next few days. Once November 3 grows closer, the first orders will arrive to customers in New Zealand and Australia, and soon after that unboxing and hands-on videos of the iPhone X will likely be shared online.

Even though some orders are already preparing to ship, Apple coordinates with its shipping partners to hold deliveries until the official launch day, although on occasion a few can slip through early. The "preparing for shipment" stage also means that orders can no longer be changed or canceled. You can visit our iPhone forums now to discuss your order status with other MacRumors readers.

If you received a shipping estimate beyond the November 3 launch date, there's a chance you could pick up an iPhone X in retail stores when the smartphone launches next Friday in more than 55 countries and territories worldwide. Of course, you'll have to arrive early to get a place in line, and supply is predicted to be constrained in many stores. If you plan on visiting an Apple retail location, most stores will open at 8:00 a.m. local time on November 3.

Update: Some iPhone X orders placed in the United States have also now shifted to preparing to ship with November 3 delivery dates.

Mine is preparing for shipment - Oklahoma.

How could you wait? Mine is 5-6 weeks too. I'm dying.

No, you’re not dying.

I get that this is a fan forum and we’re all exaggerators but reading posts like that make me roll my eyes.

Anyway, mine is also PFS for delivery 11/3. I had resigned myself to probably not getting a launch phone before preorder began and that was OK. Happy that I got in right away, though.

They should start selling in the US at least a week before everyone else, like the good old iPhone days. Come on Apple, Make iPhone Launches Great Again! :D

My Space Gray iPhone X 64GB (AT&T) just changed to preparing for shipment. Delivers November 3! So lucky to have snagged one before they sold out. My order went through at 10/27 2:05am CDT.

At 2:05am CT this morning, my order said delivery Nov 10 -17. I just checked my order and it now says preparing to ship for delivery on Nov 3rd... I'll be out of town, but at least it will be waiting for me when I get back on the 7th.

Mine delivers on 3rd November in the UK. I got the "preparing for dispatch" status just after midday today.
No chance that it will be here before the 3rd November though, as they are usually held back by the carriers, no doubt with Apple's explicit instructions to do so.

Woohoo! add me to the list of 11/10-11/17 delivery upgrade to 11/3! Still processing though, not preparing. Not going to order the case from Amazon just yet so i don't jinx myself. Everyone knows if you order a case before confirmed shipping, bad things happen.
