Mine is also Preparing for shipment. Placed my order @ 2:03 CST using Apple Store App. Received my email at 2:05. Order the AT&T SG 64 :)

I had plenty of time to put money aside for the past 3 years. I always pay for my smartphones and other  products in full as I hate installments.

I agree. Plus having debt on your credit report, even a $1100 debt, is still negative in the eyes of other creditors. For me it wouldn't bother me in that aspect as much as the fact that I owe something for someone. I buy houses, cars, and phones with cash. People always talk garbage when I bring it up, but what's the difference in saving each month before you buy something vs saving a piece of your income each month to pay for something you've already bought? Life feels amazing when you don't owe a penny to anyone... no rent, no mortgage, no credit card bills, no car loan. It gives you freedom to do things you could never do otherwise.

I’m in NY and mine is now Preparing for Shipment
Did you have issues with the Apple Store app?? I went on at 2:58 (on ipad and iPhone), and it didn't actually load up until 3:10, and my delivery est is 11/14-24. Hoping it moves up, but doubt it.

Perhaps most people are missing the point here? Wouldn't Apple need to "Prepare for Shipment" sooner if the destination takes longer to deliver to?

Just because you ordered your iPhone 5 minutes earlier than your neighbor doesn't mean they will make a special delivery for your phone. If you are getting it Nov. 3rd, your phone is on a pallet somewhere with all the other phones.

Although I 100% applaud your debt free life, having at least a little credit history (positive history with on time payments) is good for your credit score in case you ever need credit in the future.

That is unfair. I was on the Apple website ready to preorder from before 8 and was hitting refresh until it came on. I now have delivery 13th-20th Nov

THIS! LOL... so true... The funny part is every year people who get the 1-2 weeks end up getting their phone at launch... the 2-3 weeks end up getting theirs the week after launch or right after launch, etc... I think because so many people buy and then end up cancelling their order for various reasons (change mind, find one in store, find one from a carrier, etc etc etc) and it bumps everyone else up in the queue.
Is this true?!?
I was furiously refreshing the iPhone, iPad and Mac last night and by the time I got in, it was only available for pickup. I was so tired that I wasted about five seconds looking at the times available and then they'd gone and it slipped down. It says 'Shipping in 1-2 weeks' with estimated delivery 10-17th November, but I do wonder if that has a chance of slipping forward. I'm going on vacation, so would love to have it before I go.
Has this actually happened to you before or are you just guessing?

I am glad that you can pre-order it with no commitment this time. Pre-ordered the 64GB Space Gray with 5-6 weeks delivery time. I can wait. ;)

Here in Arizona I’ve got the leather folio and X preparing for shipment

I’ve got preparing for shipping since 14:00 or so
Keep an eye on UPS in by Monday! The Apple website could still say prepping for shipping but Ups might have a tracking number already! And shipped from China

Funny how Europe uses “Preparing for Dispatch” and my US order says “Preparing for Shipment”
Yeah - shipping is an American term. We don't say it in proper English ;)
I used to work for QVC in England in their call centre when I was a student and we had to say 'shipping' and customers were like 'what - you're sending it by boat inland?'

Ordered from Apple App - 2:04AM CST
Confirmation received - 2:206AM CST

Current Status: Preparing to Ship
Model: 256GB SG
Location: Minneapolis, MN

The first iPhone X pre-order customers have begun noting in the MacRumors forums that their orders recently moved to the "preparing for shipment/dispatch" stage. These users are located in Europe, and will be among the first to get the iPhone X in their hands, with deliveries promised to arrive on launch day next Friday, November 3. As of writing, no movement on order statuses has been made for customers in the United States.

iPhone X pre-orders began at 12:01 a.m. Pacific Time on October 27, and shipping estimates began slipping into 2-3 week delivery windows in a matter of minutes. Now, new orders for most models of the iPhone X sit at a 5-6 week delivery estimate. Apple has described demand for the iPhone X as "off the charts."

Orders that are now updated to "preparing for shipment" status should begin shipping out to customers over the next few days. Once November 3 grows closer, the first orders will arrive to customers in New Zealand and Australia, and soon after that unboxing and hands-on videos of the iPhone X will likely be shared online.

Even though some orders are already preparing to ship, Apple coordinates with its shipping partners to hold deliveries until the official launch day, although on occasion a few can slip through early. The "preparing for shipment" stage also means that orders can no longer be changed or canceled. You can visit our iPhone forums now to discuss your order status with other MacRumors readers.

If you received a shipping estimate beyond the November 3 launch date, there's a chance you could pick up an iPhone X in retail stores when the smartphone launches next Friday in more than 55 countries and territories worldwide. Of course, you'll have to arrive early to get a place in line, and supply is predicted to be constrained in many stores. If you plan on visiting an Apple retail location, most stores will open at 8:00 a.m. local time on November 3.

Update: Some iPhone X orders placed in the United States have also now shifted to preparing to ship with November 3 delivery dates.

It almost always has in the past so you are probably in luck!

Oh don't get me wrong, I use my credit cards to buy EVERYTHING. Throwing away points is throwing away free money. ;-) Even when I buy a car I finance it and pay it off within the first 60 days. You always get a better deal to finance, and can pay it off immediately.

It's absolutely happened to me before. I think you'll get it sooner than you expect. Remember, they don't pre-charge peoples' cards... so there will be those orders that decline and cancel, and some who have the 1-2 weeks who end up getting one in store on launch day, or people who have multiple orders contemplating which they want who will cancel. I think last year iPhone 7 Plus I was in the 3-4 week batch and got it 3-4 days after launch.
