Love the phone except for the bezel. For some reason it seems more pronounced on this phone than the XS. Is there a technical reason with the LCD display or is it just a marketing differentiator to make the XS seem better?
I’d hazard a guess it’s harder to do with LCD than OLED, which is also likely the reason there is no 3D Touch.

I just ordered another 7+ 128gb instead and giving my old 7+ to my mother. I'd rather stab myself in the eyeballs than pay apple for a phone with an annoying notch, lower pixel density and no home button. No idea wtf i'm going to do in 2 years when i need to buy a new phone, i think i'll move to Android. The new iphones are absolute garbage.

Same situation here. I'm just waiting for my iPhone 7 to die so I can move on.

It’s hilarious that nearly every product preview video on YouTube has a teaser image of someone with mouth agape and eyes bugged out. Come on, people, can’t you be more creative with a teaser image?

Personally, I find the Xr to be comically large. If they made the same phone with iPhone 5 physical dimensions I would buy it at once.

Amazing how different the colors look in each video! In one video I love the blue for example , in another I don’t...

It’s all in the video settings. Some have white balance set poorly, some use color grading to fit their style, some use poor lighting, etc.

Yeah, it is. Out of the 10 or so XS Max;'s I've seen in person, maybe one of them met my expectations for color uniformity and temperature. Looks way worse than my iPhone 8+. Sorry, I just dont buy the hype when it comes to OLED. Its trash.

But enjoy paying more for junk.
You're kidding yourself if you think you can visually see those kinds of differences with any precision or objectivity. The OLED screens look amazing and the people who test these things agree. BEST displays in the industry aren't "Trashy" and your anecdotal subjective opinion is literally meaningless to the overall state of the screens.

If you don't like the iPhone XS screens, you also don't like the Pixel, Note, Galaxy S, etc.

Steve Jobs should be resurrected from the dead to stop these pointless first dibs review. Let them line up like the rest of us and suffer and trip over themselves trying to get to upload their pointless reviews on the same day.

I think this will sell much better than the Xs and Max. Value debate aside, pricing psychology makes people feel better by buying the cheaper of two options. The only thing missing now is the extravagant option priced way above value to catch all the people willing to throw more money their way.

Some of us are more discerning than others. I guess I just have a more discerning eye than you. I don't think color shifting, yellow tinges, PWM flickering, and Pentile subpixels to be an upgrade over a good LCD> I think its a step back. And it looks like trash.

What a dumb comment.

I’m still using an iPhone 7+ because I’m not an idiot and don’t fall for marketing every year.
You do realize that having disposable income is not something people should be ashamed of or feel bad about right? One could say your comment is dumb because you just don't have enough disposable income to have a shiny new phone each year.

It's the cheap iPhone, it's the modern day iPhone 5c.

No you don't. You're kidding yourself.

DisplayMate measures this stuff and you're objectively wrong. Your eye is no better than anyone else's eye on average. We all have nearly identical biology...lol. You aren't superman.

Could just be me, but with the colors and the bezel, these just don't look like $749 phones to me.... $600 maybe.

I think it will sell well and I'm definitely going to be upgrading from my 6 Plus to the 128GB XR. However, I'm not jumping on the preorder bandwagon this time. There were too many rumors about production issues with the screen being the cause for the one-month delay in availability and I think I'll wait at least a couple of weeks to get some real world feedback as to whether those issues were completely solved.

As an expert in my field I can tell you that a lot of so called "experts" are full of sht. They are winging it just like anyone else. So I always trust myself over any expert. And from what I've seen, OLED sucks. Maybe if you got a perfect unit and are looking at it dead on it looks OK, but shift it in your hand one millimeter and game over. Plus burn in, panel variability, pentile - no thanks. I think people are buying the hype and fooling themselves if they think OLED is good tech.

The color matched (assuming anodized[?]) camera ring is a really nice detail, since it's such an obvious place to use the same component across different colors.

Literally the entire industry has agreed OLED TVs are the best looking TVs on the market. If you're trying to be a trailblazer or something, like no experts agree with you.

Same with phones.
