Literally the entire industry has agreed OLED TVs are the best looking TVs on the market. If you're trying to be a trailblazer or something, like no experts agree with you.

Same with phones.

If you like OLED then rock it man. I just don’t think it looks good. It looks worse than the 8+ and soon XR for sure.

You're like the 1% who thinks that. I can make any crazy statement...doesn't mean it means anything.

ALL the data points to the OLED screens being superior. The iPhone 8+ display is not as good as the XS Max. It's just not.

Or someone with a job. Seems there are lots of "fools" as you say. Of course, you could skip the denigration and just admit that not everyone makes the same choices as you.
LOL only a moron thinks that people with a lot of money are richer because they make dumber purchasing decisions.

Yeah, it is. Out of the 10 or so XS Max;'s I've seen in person, maybe one of them met my expectations for color uniformity and temperature. Looks way worse than my iPhone 8+. Sorry, I just dont buy the hype when it comes to OLED. Its trash.

But enjoy paying more for junk.

Each to their own mate. I'm enjoying my OLED on the X but also like the LCD on the SE.

Seriously, we need the XR mini next year. Many people out there don't want to carry a flat-screen television in a front pocket.
So much this. Do an XR mini in 6/7/8 size, and perhaps a XR micro in SE size (it's enough smaller, and they lose enough battery, that they may have to scale back the features or clock speed some, to get workable battery life).

People only go on about this phone cos of the colours is it just me or anyone else think its a big kidish im happy with the max
Are you afraid of having fun like a kid? The colors aren't the draw for me, it's that it's the current gen CPU for substantially less money.
[doublepost=1539888664][/doublepost]Am I the only one who has practically allergic reactions to youtubers reacting to anything and everything with over-the-top astonished looks in their thumbnails? As if the thing we should be primarily concerned with is if they like the device, rather than whether the device is good or not?

CNET lady was annoying as hell. Only one of the five above worth watching might be the 4th one down (Sara) who had some insight on the portrait mode camera differences. All the rest just just seem to lazily regurgitate the XR spec sheet.

Macrumors calls these reviews, but they're basically just marketing videos. There's little bits of useful nuggets strewn about in the videos though. According to Tyler, the screen resolution and PPI are not an issue at all, which is something anyone who put any thought into it already knew.

I just ordered another 7+ 128gb instead and giving my old 7+ to my mother. I'd rather stab myself in the eyeballs than pay apple for a phone with an annoying notch, lower pixel density and no home button. No idea wtf i'm going to do in 2 years when i need to buy a new phone, i think i'll move to Android. The new iphones are absolute garbage.

You've obviously never used anything with FaceID. I thought the same thing as you about TouchID being removed.

FaceID is better. Gestures are better, easier, faster. You're being silly.

The iPhone XR will be available for pre-order at 12:01 a.m. Pacific Time on October 19, and ahead of when pre-orders go live, the first iPhone XR reviews have been published on YouTube.

Apple appears to have provided several YouTubers and media sites with iPhone XR review units, with a list of some of the available review videos embedded below.

Apple's iPhone XR is the third iPhone in Apple's 2018 iPhone lineup. It's the least expensive of the three new devices, priced starting at $749 vs. $999 and $1,099 for the iPhone XS and XS Max.

Compared to the iPhone XS, the iPhone XR features an LCD display instead of an OLED display, Haptic Touch instead of 3D Touch, and an aluminum frame instead of a stainless steel frame. It's got a lower water resistance rating at IP67, and it has slower LTE Advanced instead of Gigabit LTE.

Most notably, the iPhone XR uses a single-lens camera system instead of a dual-lens camera system, but the two devices feature many of the same capabilities such as Depth Control and Smart HDR, enabled through software.

Aside from these differences, the iPhone XR and iPhone XS have the same components including the super fast A12 chip, TrueDepth camera system for Face ID, and glass body for wireless charging capabilities.

The iPhone XR will officially launch on Friday, October 26, one week after pre-orders take place.

None of these reviews address the elephant in the room - how does the XR LCD compare to the 8 Plus in terms of text quality including font size, crispness etc. I suspect few users will complain but it would be nice to know. This group was recruited by Apple. I didn’t hear a single criticism from any of the “reviewers” about the XR. This was more of the same of the videos were posted after the original event, in other words collectively not very illuminating.

That CNET "review" felt more like a marketing video. As someone interested in this phone, I was excited to see some early reviews, but that's not what these are unfortunately.
Absolutely correct.

So you purchase the exact same phone as you had... Ok then.

Or ppl with money to burn ;)
Well money or not, for me the size still is an issue.

I actually bought a used great-condition iPhone X 256 last week with AC for 830€. Wanted to get the Xr but it’s just too damn big. As it stands the X also feels too big for me, but I can just manage and will adjust...
the screen is gorgeous though and it has a very premium feel with the steel rim.
Plus the 256gb are nice coming from a 64gb 6s...

Just to think the guy spent 1550 € (including AC) for this thing 10 months ago is insane though

That is the only thing that I dislike about the XR. Not a deal breaker, but, I wish it was no bigger than the X. I'm hanging onto my X for another year, but, will most likely update to next year's XR (or whatever it's called).

Sorry but these arnt worth it for me xs and max are the best for the money just pay a bit more

Unable to tell if this is a one hand functionality capable phone. This is the reason why I like the Xs ~4.7” physical form factor. Found the Plus/Max uncomfortable for single hand use. The SE being optimal. 5.8” design is at the upper limits for single hand use.

I understand that a phone is some people’s only device/computer and so the larger the screen the better. I just got tired of the palm/thumb fatigue on the Plus/Max. How does the 6.1” screen compare?

OMG The CNET reviewer didn't realize the XR was a different size until she held it up next to her X. -facepalm-
