WHY are you installing Avast? Seriously! It's not needed. Unless you send and receive a lot of attachments between Windows users and you want to help them to avoid viruses? Save yourself the CPU cycles and leave that bloat off your machine.
Thanks. I hadn’t really given it much thought, but it never caught anything, pretty compelling evidence I don’t need it

It's really surprising how much Apple seems to have been influenced by what Microsoft's been doing. They've even come around to the idea of building 'Refrigerator-Toasters'. For better or worse, it's almost certain now that Macs with touch input are on the horizon.

For who already familiar with Deepin Linux (Chinese-made Linux distributions), this is almost coincidental.

It looks better than the current macOS Big Sur beta, kinda sad, and yet some people love it......

It would be smart for all future Macs to have a battery — mobile and desktop. With an A-series processor inside, there's no reason why they can't.

Desktop battery exist and called : UPS.
If you have compatible UPS connected to desktop Mac, it would shown on Energy Saver. Not sure how desktop with UPS behave with new battery usage system preferences on Big Sur.

I know some people aren’t digging how much it seems macOS is turning into iOS

It should not be a surprise to anyone. The long drought of hardware and inattention to macOS made it clear Apple was working toward iOS only or a variant of iOS better suited to laptops/all-in-ones for a long time. It looks like the target is now the latter. macOS as people understand it today is deprecated along with intel.

I don't care for it but I understand it. It may turn out to be a winning choice: get the bulk of consumers with a platform "good enough" for common tasks.

Beauty is only skin deep! Let's see if Safari still has all the features we're accustomed to.
So far, and a lot more. Can’t believe how many trackers get blocked. I’d love to get money for these scumbags tracking me. If they paid me, maybe I would like it

The sad things with Big Sure is, how touch interface can translated backward with mouse clicks and pointer? From UX perspective, it was clunky and jarring experience. Kinda similar with early Windows 8 mixed UI disaster which is fixed in 8.1 later and further polished in Windows 10. When it doesn’t look beautiful, it successfully distinguish desktop UI and touch UI components depending device type, or can be assigned manually if hybrid device.

I think using MacOS Big Sur with compatible touch screen display such as Wacom Cintiq Pro (I had one) are the only reasonable way usingBig Sur touch oriented UI.

My first thought was, "Why is the desktop empty?"
No SSDs or HDs. Did this change in Catalina?

I dunno since when MacOS no longer show disk drive by default, but it can be show manually with extra steps. My fresh Mojave Install also doesn’t show any disk on desktop unless I’m digging some Finder preferences to make them show up.

I actually have forgotten which versions of OS X are actually loaded on my two Macs... Maybe OS X / MacOS are like music "CDs".... you reach a certain age and you stop worrying about the latest versions! ;-)

No skewmorphism? I’m done.
I heard Scott Forstall is looking for a partner. 🤣
Battery is replacing Energy Saver? My Mac Mini and iMac run off the wall. What Battery?
Noticed that. Another reason I‘M worried about the death of the desktop OS. Bending over backwards to homogenize design language is the first step.

It is a screenshot from MacOS 11 / Big Sur maybe some day for iPad Pro ore something look in the red circle the icon there looks like the iPad pro
Just a monitor.

Just got my MacBook Pro 13" 2020. Can't wait to get it upgraded to Big Sur. I like the new UI design but I still love my dark mode on Catalina. The new UI seems too bright.

I like the look and the features, but I won't get burned again. I will upgrade at 11.0.3 or 11.0.4, but we'll see what the early adopters say. Having said that, it looks we're seeing more greater creativity and innovation on the MacOS side, which is exciting.

The software isn't being QA tested near enough though, imagine with the C-19 work from home situation, et cetera. I think they either need to allow more employees to test (or developers to change code) or they need to go to a 2-year cycle and make more modest changes annually that correspond with iOS compatibility.

How about a USB-C fingerprint reader for non-portables, or a reader under the screen of the Apple Watch?

Still need to be able to tag photos (for searching purposes) and rename bluetooth devices.
