You're right, it's not about me, and that's my point i've been trying to convey to you entitled folk. it's about the masses, you're just too blind to see it. nobody is disagreeing with me, they are disagreeing with apple. i'm telling you kids to get a life because you sound like ridiculous whining millennials, regardless of age :)
[doublepost=1478883781][/doublepost]

Ah, there you go putting people down again to make your point because, apparently, that's all you got in your bag. Yeah, who is the immature here? I'm not the one in this conversation name calling and making put downs -- just making an observation. And "whining" because there is objection to a $2400 laptop in 2016 that isn't all that versitle out of the box? No, that's called being a consumer and making an informed choice. More -- feeling "entitled" is when one expects something for nothing because they think they are special. But the MBP is $2400, not a budget model. It's priced at the top end of the laptop price range. Yes, some of us expect something for that kind of money rather than the burden to have to spend even more money to get the same functionality out of the box as last year's model.

You made your decison and are happy with it and that's great, but there are others -- at the highest end of the professional spectrum who have voiced the very concerns in professional sites and podcasts I repeated here. Bottom line is Apple could have done a better job here. That is my point and I think the orignal poster you attacked. You can marginalize the dissenting voices all you want but it doesn't make them any less legitimate no matter how derogatory you want to be.

Just placed my order. Because I went through Education pricing, I could not pick up. The latest projected date for me is December 23. I wish it was sooner, but oh well.:(
Just ordered 2 for my 2 young teens...order said between 12/20 - 12/26...hasn't processed yet...be nice to have it under the tree.
[doublepost=1478889430][/doublepost]
my 13" with upgraded ram is preparing for shipment as well. and i ordered via education store...like others have mentioned, i imagine the SSD might be upgradeable b/c isn't it non-soldered on the non-touch 13"? regardless, i enjoyed playing with the non-touch version at the apple store and was pleasantly surprised by how small it really is...
When did you place your order? I did my 2 from the education store as well (for my 2 kids) - got the 16gb

Ciao Matteo !!! I'm in your situation... 17-24, macbook 15 but not already charged in Credit Card...

UK here. Just checked and I had a failed payment (again! Apple Pay) Reauthorized the same card and it accepted it, now saying processing again instead of awaiting payment.

Unfortunately they were dropped starting with the retina models. As well as the sleep indicator light on the front. I don't understand it at all, it is so handy being able to see battery status without opening.
Sleep indicator being gone I don't mind at all! That sucker could light up a room at night! :) It was handy, it would have been nice to just dim it a bit.

I

Pot calling the kettle black.

A: You recommend me a website which is notorious for Apple bias.

B: By what comparison - do you really want to compare a like for like, price to price MacBok Pro with a top of the line Aorus? Really?

My information is perfectly accurate, despite being a computer technician by 15 years trade - & an apple one - enterprise level - for 5, I really do know what I am talking about.

So please, learn something before recommending certain products to people.
you didn't bother to read the article. The "notorious" apple biased website was quoting a Huffington post article written by a professional video editor who has access to one of the new macbooks. He said: "First off, It’s really fast. I’ve been using the MacBook Pro with the new version of FCP X and cutting 5k ProRes material all week, it’s buttery smooth. No matter what you think the specs say, the fact is the software and hardware are so well integrated it tears strips off “superior spec’d” Windows counterparts in the real world. This has always been true of Macs. If you’re running software with old code which doesn’t utilise the hardware well, you’re not going to get great performance (as pointed out here)" As has been proven time and time again you cannot look at apple specs and say something is under-powered. you have to actually use it to see. There is no android phone out there that can compete with the iphone in real world use (including battery life), no matter what specs it has. I'm sure you do know what your talking about as do I (computer programmer for over 25 years), but, if you really are a computer technician you should know, you cannot blast something you've never actually used yourself. Especially when it comes to apple - they can integrate software and hardware like nobody else can. Obviously, I haven't used this computer yet, but, the anecdotal evidence I've seen and my past history with Apple would lead me to believe this computer is a lot more "pro" oriented that the blogs would have us to believe. At the very least I couldn't condemn it until i've used it for myself. That was the point I was trying to make.

Excuse me for asking, but did you preordered one?
If not can you please post your concerns and opinions on countless other threads on MR Forums and STOP TROLLING here.
In case you haven't noticed, this thread is about orders being prepared for shipment i.e for people who purchased one already.
Thanks in advance.

This will likely be like the iPhone where you can get in store before many who ordered online

I just got sick people mention this again and again..

There are tons of methods to solve the ESC problem.

One example: we can map the Caps key to ESC without 3rd party software.
how am I supposed to then use my Caps lock key to YELL LOUDLY ON THE INTERNET IF IT'S BEING USED AS ESC!

but just kiddin about yelling on the itnernet. But replacing changing keyboard layouts is a bloody nightmare. Most of touch typing is muscle memory. And your'e talkign about changing that, for many of us after decades of use, because Apple decided to just chop off something thats been use, and STILL used for decades.

Caps lock is not a suitable replacement. as I actually USE my caps lock for it's purpose. Caps locking

Still processing here on my 13" 256 GB pro.. credit card hasn't been charged either, and yet my delivery date was moved up estimating originally between the 17-25 to now saying the 14-21, anyone else experiencing anything similar?

I was just going to post that my original delivery was Nov 21-25 but that has been moved up to Nov 15-21. No credit card charge and my status still says processing. This has to be good news though. 13" pro as well.

Good to know, hopefully we'll see a change in status soon then, super pumped!

Also keep in mind that we don't have to pay $100+ for every Microsoft OS upgrades. MacOS has been free (at least you paid up front for the hardware) so far.

To be fair, Windows 10 was a free upgrade from Win 7 upwards - and still appears to be so if you select assistive technologies as your upgrade path. You even got it for free as I did without owning a prior version, if you joined the beta program and upgraded to the final version.

Actually.... it's people like YOU, lacking technical acumen- that would believe the foolish claims that you just made.
Thunderbolt 3 adds a heretofore unheard of bus speed, allowing for external updates at exactly the same speed of internal updates.
From my post: I'm planning on adding a latest gen, series 10 Nvidia gaming card to my 2016 MacBook Pro via tb3 external box, & gaining the ability to play ALL modern games.... on a Mac!
Gaming is by far, the most taxing of PC tasks, even eclipsing the requirements of the most arduous professional tasks.
In my opinion (no more humble than yours!) it is "downright daft" to spend $1700 on a last year's refurb, lacking this dramatic new specification, especially if you are looking to maximize the life of the device... as I am.
[doublepost=1478879020][/doublepost]

Ugh.
That's rough to hear, but thanks for the heads up!!!
[doublepost=1478879129][/doublepost]

Well then, I guess it was EXTREMELY foolish for the op to have claimed "the SSD is definitely not upgradable", since none of us know yet!
Thx for the clarification.

Good luck with that. Im sure that external gpu will work without a hitch lol

Even it is somewhat upgradeable, I would only expect the storage to be, and using a proprietary socket like the most recent models before Touchbar. Making it quite an expensive upgrade, IMO you're better off getting the storage you need now than later with these models.
The SSD isn't a "Proprietary" Socket for "Proprietary's Sake"; it's an entirely different (and much faster) interface.
[doublepost=1478902618][/doublepost]
im not sure the touch bar is worth it for me...Logic x is my thing. For everything else, I have a sneaky feeling developers wont embrace this.
but me being me i still want one...
I think you'll be wrong, and LPX is going to have TouchBar support in early 2017.

Yea!! I'm so excited. Maybe this edges us closer to a new iMac. Work is probably nearing completion. They're just trying to figure out how much to soak the Apple consumer for the opportunity to own one.:rolleyes::apple:

On a more serious note, I really hope the iMac is not far behind. I am sure I will find a price point that is acceptable when they are released.
No, they are waiting for HEX-Core Kaby Lake's for the iMac, and the new Xeons for the Mac Pro, which they desparately want to update to USB-C/TB 3.
[doublepost=1478902938][/doublepost]
You have to ask yourself if you are you buying a new computer for yesterday or tomorrow?
EXACTLY what I have been saying since it came out!

TLDR version, the last update used an old processor (in relative terms) and with SkyLake promising a new design, more people waited.
The issue is that Apple wanted to wait for Quad-Core Kaby Lake, but knew they also were getting increasing pressure to release an update for the holiday season, so they (like every other laptop mfg.) simply went with Skylake Quads.

From what I understand, Kaby Lake isn't going to be much (if any) faster than Skylake; but it may support LDDR4 memory, which should allow Apple to put 32 GB in their laptops.

The iHipsters are strong here.

Enjoy posing with your delusional super-laptop in Starbucks whilst the rest of the world buy real hardware for real work.

For the record; OS X hasn't been efficient since 10.8.5. Since then we have had endless bloat and generally *********** added I to the OS for people who couldn't give a sh** obout computing but just want to fill the status quo & keep with the trend.

Defend it all you want; but absence of certain purpose built technology can not be replaced by jack of all trades technology effectively.

I'll chuckle when I see a modern day 'Pro' fumbling with a bazillion adapters to do their 'job'.

You're obviously a real pro with real hardware doing real work. Perhaps you could get your PA to buy you the right cable to use.
