I think you might be a little bit slow. My 2015 MBP is right on par with this year's. The processor could have been upgraded for this year's model, had Apple waited. But they made us wait way too long as is. So, what they did is fine. The MBP is turning into the MB. Those of us who use it professionally are upset by this. BTW, if paying for a dongle was an issue for me, I wouldn't be buying a Mac to begin with. I probably make more in 4 weeks than you do in an entire year, TBCH. Careful who you're talking to, buddy.
[doublepost=1478876728][/doublepost]
The price is not the issue, it's the fact that Apple used to pride themselves on simplicity and elegance. Not this fragmentation and dongle BS.

No, YOU are upset because it doesn't fit YOUR needs. First world problems, bro. I'm a creative professional and although it's not 100% perfect for my needs, it's pretty close and I'm not complaining. I see the big picture and why Apple did what they did. Are you new to Apple's products and their philosophy as a company? Are you forced to buy this laptop? Are you seriously bragging on the internets about how much money you make? PS- it's probably less than me.

Who cares?

Dell, Aorus, ASUS, Acer laptops are better value for money, just as well made and more powerful.

Wake up Apple.

The world is changing..

Maby better value (if not counting apples quality and design as value), but not as well made, dell are close but still far away from apples engineering. And in real life performance mac still beats a windows laptop with same spec. Windows need to be optimized for millions of hardware configs while apple know what they have in their machines so it is better optimized.

Same as in pc vs consoles in gaming, the pc need to be alot heavier speced than the console to deliver same performance..

I think a lot of people are upset because when you compare Apple computers to those from other manufacturers. Apple is undoubtedly lacking in certain areas.

Let's all just agree that we're individuals. Your need != the next persons needs. It's ok for you to love this product and state that. It's ok for the next person to hate this product and state that too.

Did they get rid of the battery LED's, i love that feature on my mid 2010 MBP....
Unfortunately they were dropped starting with the retina models. As well as the sleep indicator light on the front. I don't understand it at all, it is so handy being able to see battery status without opening.

Jesus dude, for $1699 you can get a 15 inch 2015 model on the apple refurb store! That's way way faster, has more ram, more flexibility with ports, and comes like new with a full warrantly. To spend $1800 on this overhyped macbook air replacement is downright daft

But its people like you who will buy this crap who will encourage apple to keep making this crap

Actually.... it's people like YOU, lacking technical acumen- that would believe the foolish claims that you just made.
Thunderbolt 3 adds a heretofore unheard of bus speed, allowing for external updates at exactly the same speed of internal updates.
From my post: I'm planning on adding a latest gen, series 10 Nvidia gaming card to my 2016 MacBook Pro via tb3 external box, & gaining the ability to play ALL modern games.... on a Mac!
Gaming is by far, the most taxing of PC tasks, even eclipsing the requirements of the most arduous professional tasks.
In my opinion (no more humble than yours!) it is "downright daft" to spend $1700 on a last year's refurb, lacking this dramatic new specification, especially if you are looking to maximize the life of the device... as I am.
[doublepost=1478879020][/doublepost]
Hopefully it'll work for you. I had just recently upgraded my Desktop Hackintosh from a 290x to 1070, and OSx **** the bed. Endless boot loops, and couldn't get it working at all.

Ugh.
That's rough to hear, but thanks for the heads up!!!
[doublepost=1478879129][/doublepost]
iFixit has not torn down a tbMBP yet. Only a non-TouchBar model.

Well then, I guess it was EXTREMELY foolish for the op to have claimed "the SSD is definitely not upgradable", since none of us know yet!
Thx for the clarification.

Ironically your response shows the flaw with this release. Yes, it doesn't fit the posters needs -- exactly. The poster isn't in a bubble on a deserted island. He is a voice of many others. And that IS where Apple went wrong because it didn't need to go all-in on USB-C at this stage of that connector. USB-C isn't *that* prevalent today, it's transitioning to that point but a USB-A is still ubquitious. Apple has dropped old standards before but never like this, all at once -- it was always gradual. And they have never ever made a professional dubbed laptop that depended entirely on dongles. There were laptops like the Duo line, the Air, the current MB which had limited I/O, but these were all consumer/writers laptops, not intented for heavy duty computing.

I welcome USB-C/TB3 but I don't relish dongles. Sorry, but having to carry around dongles with your laptop is an anathema. But it's salt in the wound when Apple charges top dollar for the MBP and then doesn't even pack-in a USB-A or HDMI dongle. It seems Apple realized they goofed on this a bit when they reduced the price of their dongles a couple weeks after announcing the MBP.

In total I don't thing the new MBP is horrible but it's not worth $2400 either given everything its missing. Enjoy yours, but Apple could have, should have announced a MBP, that after an 18 month gap, was more appealing to a larger universe of MBP users. After the initial sales I think this sales will halt just as this did with the iPad Pro.

The first 13 and 15-inch MacBook Pro models equipped with a Touch Bar will soon be making it into the hands of customers, as initial MacBook Pro orders have shifted into the "Preparing for Shipment" stage.

Customers who ordered a MacBook Pro right when it became available for purchase on October 27 received shipping estimates ranging from November 17 to November 25, and with orders ready to go, it appears customers will begin receiving their machines next week.

According to reports from MacRumors readers, it looks like 15-inch MacBook Pro models and custom ordered machines will be shipping out in the near future. We aren't yet seeing reports of order changes for 13-inch machines, but those should also be going out soon.

New MacBook Pro models sold out quickly, with shipping estimates slipping from 2-3 weeks to 3-4 weeks within a matter of hours after they went on sale. It is not yet known when stores will begin receiving supplies of the new MacBook Pro, but right around November 17 is a good guess.

Last week, Apple's Phil Schiller said Apple has received more online orders for the new MacBook Pro than for any previous-generation MacBook Pro. Sales estimates from Slice Intelligence have also suggested the new MacBook Pro has already outsold all competing laptops in 2016, despite its high price tag.

Pricing on the 13-inch MacBook Pro with a Touch Bar begins at $1,799, while pricing on the 15-inch Touch Bar model begins at $2,399.

Update: Several MacRumors readers are now seeing "Preparing for Shipment" updates on 13-inch MacBook Pro orders as well.

Would really like to know if it's possible to replace the hard drive on the 15inch one?

Sorry, but you're way off. Instead of including a million ports, they streamlined it into USB-C where it would be more compatible with a larger universe of MBP users. Using your logic, Apple should have included what I specifically need.. a CF slot. Am I bitching about not having that? F*ck no, because I'm not narrow minded.

The fact you keep talking about dongles shows you are new to this, or uniformed. As a creative pro I won't need to use a single dongle. A majority of Apple's users won't need a dongle, and Apple knows this, you clearly don't. Worst case, you need to buy a $5 cord. Anyone complaining about an upgraded $5 cord shouldn't be buying Apple products in the first place.

Ugh, I literally placed my order about 3 minutes after the Apple Store went live for orders and have seen nothing.

2016 Macbook pro killed the meaning of PRO designation. This one is PASS and wait for the next update when included Intel 10nm cannon/Ice/Tiger lake processors, without 16GB RAM limit, X3 Point Optane SSD. And price is reasonable.
It is funny when you add processor upgrade $300 to 13" base expensive $1499 model equals $1799. That price is same as the one with touch id, better processor, faster RAM than base model. This shows the base model is priced $300 higher and should have cost $1199.

That's cool and all but my iPhone 7 Plus Black 128GB still shows processing after a week. Speed this up Apple!!
If you are seriously waiting, you need to cancel your order and head your self into a local apple store or your provider. I was a walk-in to an AT&T store, 2 weeks after announcement, order my 7 Plus 128GB Black, not even 2 weeks later I had it.

Excellent. Since price is not the issue, simply get a USB C to Lightening cable. No adapter needed. Problem solved, "simplicity and elegance" maintained.
Incorrect. Apple devices should *BE COMPATIBLE* with each other out of the box.

Negative, to all of your simple-minded questions. I've probably been using Apple products since before you were born. You act like a 13 year old squeaker. Apple dropped the ball this time. MBP is still far superior to almost every Windows laptop out there, but it's disappointing that my 2015 MBP is better in a lot of aspects than these new MPS.

Yeah I'm new to this... First Mac was a Mac SE back in 1988. First Mac laptop was a Duo 210 circa '91. Why don't you stop putting people down because they disagree with you ("The fact you keep talking about dongles shows you are new to this, or uniformed.") and listen to what they have to say. It's not all about you ("As a creative pro I won't need to use a single dongle.")

Anyone in the UK had their Processing orders changed to Preparing? I ordered minutes after the UK site was updated on the 27th, going for a maxxed out space grey 15" (only 1TB tho), due 17th-24th.

Also keep in mind that we don't have to pay $100+ for every Microsoft OS upgrades. MacOS has been free (at least you paid up front for the hardware) so far.

You're right, it's not about me, and that's my point i've been trying to convey to you entitled folk. it's about the masses, you're just too blind to see it. nobody is disagreeing with me, they are disagreeing with apple. i'm telling you kids to get a life because you sound like ridiculous whining millennials, regardless of age :)

ha, who's the real squeaker here? the one that goes online to moan and complain apple didn't cater to their specific needs? the one that rants about what's "best" for the company?

or, the one that asks you to grow up, get a life, and recognize the ridiculousness of your first world problem complaints.

i think we all know the answer :)

PS. please, keep telling us how apple dropped the ball and you know what's best for the company and for the masses.

Seems most (if not all) Europeans on here are still on Processing. My card hasn't even been charged yet.

The iHipsters are strong here.

Enjoy posing with your delusional super-laptop in Starbucks whilst the rest of the world buy real hardware for real work.

For the record; OS X hasn't been efficient since 10.8.5. Since then we have had endless bloat and generally *********** added I to the OS for people who couldn't give a sh** obout computing but just want to fill the status quo & keep with the trend.

Defend it all you want; but absence of certain purpose built technology can not be replaced by jack of all trades technology effectively.

I'll chuckle when I see a modern day 'Pro' fumbling with a bazillion adapters to do their 'job'.

Yeah, we still need purpose built technology like calculators, type writers, phones and radios. Those should absolutely stay purpose built and should in no way be combined into some sort of jack of all trades technology.

It's just one example, but it proves that not only can combining technology be effective, it can be efficient.

How about the one that pushes Apple to cater to the "Pro" users. Look at any of us on YouTube, you can see that all of us that use FCPX or even iMovie love the processing power we can get, but the fact that Apple is continuing to remove ports that we need, is not good. You clearly wouldn't understand.

There are so many posts on here telling us what we should and should not do.
Personally I have zero issue with the removal of the SD slot, but can understand it will be painful for some.
I have already bought a few lightning to USB-C cables in prep, and other than new cables for my monitors at home I'm good to go. I wont need any dongles.
The price is a bit much but I have been waiting for decent upgrade option and this is it. Those hating the touch bar (calling it stupid? really?) haven't used it, but the potential for it is huge and am really looking forward to what it can do for me.
Am I a sheep? My last MBP update was in 2011, so no I don't think so.
