Who cares?

Dell, Aorus, ASUS, Acer laptops are better value for money, just as well made and more powerful.

Wake up Apple.

The world is changing..

People keep saying the Apple SSDs are overpriced but compared to what? I think they are looking at SATA SSD drives and not PCIe 3 SSD drives. A PCIe 3 2TB SSD costs more than a $2000USD on Amazon, and that's a cheap one. Wow, would you look at that! Apple is actually selling it's SSDs for LESS THAN the going rate but nobody credits them for it.
you are comparing apple and oranges. the reason you get 2tb ssd for $1,299 is because you already traded in the standard configuration of 512. Try buying a 2tb ssd only from apple and see how much they going to sell you. apple and oranges comparison not the same here buddy

I've actually never been more excited about a laptop. I do understand why some people are angry, but it is almost perfect for me. I love the size, battery life, and the screen, and I'm coming from a 5-year-old laptop, so it's going to be so much faster in every way. I hardly ever connect anything but power and iOS devices to the laptop, so the ports don't really affect me much. I will need to buy an HDMI dongle for presentations (but I had a different dongle anyway, so it's basically the same).

Tried one of the non-Emoji bar 13" ones in-office today. It's a thing of beauty, it really is. Only the 256 model and yet the SSD speeds are ludicrous too.

View attachment 671404

If only they would quadruple the size of the damn things instead of the speed!
256Gb is pitiful for the money they want for it and 500MB/s is way more than fast enough.
Would much, much, much rather have a 1TB SSD at 500MB/s than a 256GB SSD at 2000MB/s.
Not surprised in their logic though. Makes no sense as usual.

As sad as it is to say this, I don't know if the dongle to connect my brand new iPhone 7 to my brand new MacBook Pro is ready yet. Damnit Apple this **** is ridiculous.

That is an even better question.
If you want a simple cable (no dongle) Apple sells a USB-C to lightening cable. It ain't cheap, $19 for 1 meter, $29 for 2 meter. I bought one and will keep in my bag for when I have to charge when traveling. (Normally I charge my iPhone 7Plus at the bedside when I sleep with the old-school USB-lightning cable that came with the phone).
Great news for me, my fully tricked-out MBP-15 w touchbar is in "preparing for shipment mode" :)

It's just dumb how they're doing this. Myself and many others aren't happy about the removal of the SD card slot (mainly for those of us who film and edit video) but yeah. Kinda disappointing. I'll wait and see what we get next year. Hopefully a processor that's actually up-to-date.

Have you ever sat in bed with a MacBook on your lap and the power outlet is on your right? Meaning the MagSafe cable has to go one round around your laptop. Or have the projector cable on the left, so your cable has to go another round.

With USB C, there is no such thing as a wrong port. I can plug in a cable or adaptor on the left or right side of the laptop depending on which side is more convenient for me.

The USB C is so sleek and slim and reversible and just so much better-design than the existing ports today.

I can't predict the future, but I do believe that the best way to predict the future is to create it yourself, and I want to believe in an all usb-C future. My MacBook Air is still going strong, but when it is time to upgrade, I have my sights set on the 13" touchbar MBP, and all my accessories will be USB C. That much I can assure you.
thats a very good point - hadn't thought of that. Magsafe was a very cool invention - but the power and versatility of USB C/Thunderbolt far outweighs the loss of magsafe.

Just the fact that I can't plug my brand new iPhone 7 into my brand new MacBook Pro without buying additional cables is incredibly sad.

If you can't afford a $10 cable or if this bothers you in real life then maybe Apple products aren't for you....

If you think it's dumb, it must truly be dumb, right? Sounds like you're entitled. Are you sad apple didn't cater to your specific needs and price it within your specific budget? Man, life is tough. Make sure you complain about it on the internet.

BTW, you also are ignorant. Do some research on the Intel's lineup of processors.

hardly more powerful - use the computer, read some reviews and do some homework before you post inaccurate information

Pot calling the kettle black.

A: You recommend me a website which is notorious for Apple bias.

B: By what comparison - do you really want to compare a like for like, price to price MacBok Pro with a top of the line Aorus? Really?

My information is perfectly accurate, despite being a computer technician by 15 years trade - & an apple one - enterprise level - for 5, I really do know what I am talking about.

So please, learn something before recommending certain products to people.

And those with the same iPhone 7 but with an included USB C cable (instead of the cable you have now) would be incredibly sad not being able to use their existing Apple computers.

A highly rate tiny slimline $4 adapter will solve your problem.

Where's the evidence that the MacBook Pros are being thermally throttled? I am reading a review from 9to5mac and the 15" MBP basically has no problems chewing through 5k video.

As for the thinness, my only answer to you is that someone who is fairly mobile, I appreciate having a thin, light yet capable laptop that I can carry around with ease (partly the reason I love my 9.7" iPad Pro). This doesn't mean it is wrong for other people to want more horsepower, but it does mean that theirs aren't the only needs that matter, and maybe it's time they came to realise and accept this.

they shaved off half a pound, not a few millimeters.

A pro laptop should also be a great laptop and not a box with a handle. These are perfectly balanced.... sure if they made the newer memory in LP we would have more upgrade options but thats probably going to be coffeelake.

Here's the original article referenced by the 9-5 site. Does the Huffington Post exhibit "Apple bias," as you put it?

I think you might be a little bit slow. My 2015 MBP is right on par with this year's. The processor could have been upgraded for this year's model, had Apple waited. But they made us wait way too long as is. So, what they did is fine. The MBP is turning into the MB. Those of us who use it professionally are upset by this. BTW, if paying for a dongle was an issue for me, I wouldn't be buying a Mac to begin with. I probably make more in 4 weeks than you do in an entire year, TBCH. Careful who you're talking to, buddy.

The price is not the issue, it's the fact that Apple used to pride themselves on simplicity and elegance. Not this fragmentation and dongle BS.

Hardware is all pretty similar these days. It's a moot point. Apple laptops have better build quality, are more refined, and are more innovative. You pay for that. It's a luxury product, because it's a step above the rest. You're talking about a value product. I suggest you go to Costco and get yourself a netbook if that makes you happy. Or save your pennies for what you secretly want but won't admit ;)

According to the MacRumors whiners, you just outed yourselves as non-professional, and as sheep. Because only sheep buy one of the new Macs. Others doubt you even exist and say Apple made up all the numbers about pre-orders. I'd really like to know what you thought about some of these threads.

How is this not trolling? This post is just as bad as the whinning ones......We got a thread where many of us, myself included have pre-orders, are discussing status of shipments, and some members are actually fuelling the senseless debate they are pretending to hate....

People should lead by example, especially long term posters and not cry victim in my opinion.

Cleary its a product that has disappointed members of the community..... hence the debate, Ill try mine next week...and Im certain Ill have an opinion.

Did you pre-order one?

Excellent. Since price is not the issue, simply get a USB C to Lightening cable. No adapter needed. Problem solved, "simplicity and elegance" maintained.

That is NOT what ifixit had to say!!!!!
EXACTLY the opposite actually.
It was praised for the easily replaceable SSD.
They merely said at this point, only Apple has drives that speed, so it may be a bit of a wait before you could purchase a suitable upgrade replacement drive.
iFixit has not torn down a tbMBP yet. Only a non-TouchBar model.

I have read the article you linked and I don't see how any of my questions have been addressed. Yes, performance isn't any faster than before, but that doesn't imply performance is being throttled. Battery life is comparable and the screen is gorgeous. Main complaint is the butterfly keyboard and the price. But otherwise, seems like a pretty decent piece of hardware overall.
