Still no movement here in the Netherlands, I ordered in the first 10 minutes of the online store opening.

Same like you, order placed 5 minutes after orders available.

I hope for 17 nov....

According to the MacRumors whiners, you just outed yourselves as non-professional, and as sheep. Because only sheep buy one of the new Macs. Others doubt you even exist and say Apple made up all the numbers about pre-orders. I'd really like to know what you thought about some of these threads.

But, that 15 inch 2015 model can't drive a 5K display can it? Different folks, different strokes man...
Only the most expensive of the three different 2015 models can. And only 1x 5K or 2x 4K, same as all 13" models now, and half of what all new 15" models offer.

I don't really care about others ... I was interested before keynote and I remained interested after that .. Apple doesn't needs to invent numbers to sell something.. The truth is the expensive prices and many people can't buy the new macbook for this reason, so they invent stories and decry the product...

Do the estimated shipping dates change if Apple think they can deliver sooner or do they always stay the same as of the day of order?

Also: I see that it says "4-5 weeks" on my confirmation, but according to the dates its 5-6 weeks.

Any way to determine if battery is charging without waking/booting?
Sounds like you need a little, unobtrusive button on the side of the machine with a tiny row of, otherwise invisible, LEDs that light up to show the battery power. Haven't seen that since the 2011 MacBook Pro. Kids today probably don't even know it ever existed.

I feel your pain - the same thing happened to me with the original Retina MacBook Pro on launch day back in 2012. It's heartbreaking. To make matters worse for me - the day it was delivered I had to go to Germany for a week on business. Apparently it turned up 10mins after I left - so I had an extra week to wait for mine! I was in a batch quoting 5-6 weeks - but it was only 4. Once they get through the initial launch batch - they normally ramp up pretty quickly so i'm hoping for you it will be closer to the three week mark than the four week mark. #StayStrong

And that would have been so much fun to unbox and set up on the plane! Lol. That sucks.

Yeah, I've found they typically over-estimate it by a week so I'm still hoping for the 3 week mark. I called up to see if they could bump me up to my original dates and she said no, but she 'called the warehouse' and asked them to put a priority on my order lol. I'm sure it did nothing but I appreciated her trying to make me feel better. :p

Well, if nobody here wishes to march towards the future, then at least get out of the way of those who do.

Is it really the future? Or are you just swalling the latest thing that Apple has put out?
That 'marching sound, sounds a lot like the footsteps of a lemming.

Within about 10 minutes of the store coming online. I got an I7, 256GB disk, and 16GB ram.

Thanks. I ordered the exact same one about one week later. Delivery is supposed to be mid December.

That clicking sound, sounds a lot like the typing of someone who resorts to name-calling because they can't accept that there are intelligent people who can decide for themselves whether a laptop meets their needs.

Not that I'm aware off. Have been to many stores and the answers is "we don't know when we will receive it. Order it online".

Isn't this a shame?

It is a shame, actually. I'm trying to decide between the 13" and the 15". If the Apple store had a couple on display so I could see the differences in person, I would already have placed my order.

I don't think I have ever hated an Apple product as much as I do this one. The new MacBook Pro seems like a hateful joke on the consumer/customer. There are a couple steps forward in performance, but several very unnecessary steps backwards. Enjoy your new toys!

Really? You hate something that much without ever seeing or interacting with it? That seems a bit premature.

im not sure the touch bar is worth it for me...I have a sneaky feeling developers wont embrace this.

Most of the software I use on my Mac is provided by Apple, who will almost certainly be embracing it. ;-) And we already know that Adobe and Microsoft will be supporting it. That's enough to make it worthwhile for me, anyways.

Sir, he wasnt saying it was about 'meeting his needs'. Instead he made the nebulous suggestion that buying one of these amounted to 'marching to the future'.
It was that overly aspirational comment that I was having fun with.

Slashdot says:

https://hardware.slashdot.org/story...superior-specd-windows-machines-in-real-world

"Thomas Grove Carter writes: "First off, It's really fast. I've been using the MacBook Pro with the new version of FCP X and cutting 5k ProRes material all week, it's buttery smooth. No matter what you think the specs say, the fact is the software and hardware are so well integrated it tears strips off 'superior spec'd' Windows counterparts in the real world. This has always been true of Macs. If you're running software with old code which doesn't utilize the hardware well, you're not going to get great performance"

Have you ever sat in bed with a MacBook on your lap and the power outlet is on your right? Meaning the MagSafe cable has to go one round around your laptop. Or have the projector cable on the left, so your cable has to go another round.

With USB C, there is no such thing as a wrong port. I can plug in a cable or adaptor on the left or right side of the laptop depending on which side is more convenient for me.

The USB C is so sleek and slim and reversible and just so much better-design than the existing ports today.

I can't predict the future, but I do believe that the best way to predict the future is to create it yourself, and I want to believe in an all usb-C future. My MacBook Air is still going strong, but when it is time to upgrade, I have my sights set on the 13" touchbar MBP, and all my accessories will be USB C. That much I can assure you.

I do regret the loss of magsafe, but outside of that, usb-c is great. My bigger problem with the 'future' as apple sees it, is 'pro' laptops that - because of their self imposed thiness - dont have the power or battery life they could have. Why does the 'future' have to include thermally throttled processors due to the fact that apple decided it was critical to shave off a couple more millemeters?

Did they get rid of the battery LED's, i love that feature on my mid 2010 MBP....

Where's the evidence that the MacBook Pros are being thermally throttled? I am reading a review from 9to5mac and the 15" MBP basically has no problems chewing through 5k video.

As for the thinness, my only answer to you is that someone who is fairly mobile, I appreciate having a thin, light yet capable laptop that I can carry around with ease (partly the reason I love my 9.7" iPad Pro). This doesn't mean it is wrong for other people to want more horsepower, but it does mean that theirs aren't the only needs that matter, and maybe it's time they came to realise and accept this.

they shaved off half a pound, not a few millimeters.

A pro laptop should also be a great laptop and not a box with a handle. These are perfectly balanced.... sure if they made the newer memory in LP we would have more upgrade options but thats probably going to be coffeelake.

Not on the "cheap" version of the MBP.

Is the dongle to connect them available yet?
[doublepost=1478822993][/doublepost]

I posted this in another thread and got wanred by the mods lol Please don't be frivolous.
As sad as it is to say this, I don't know if the dongle to connect my brand new iPhone 7 to my brand new MacBook Pro is ready yet. Damnit Apple this **** is ridiculous.
[doublepost=1478869790][/doublepost]
Or, will you get an iPhone 7+ Jet Black before the iPhone 8 is announced?
That is an even better question.
