One of my friends wants to get an Apple Watch Sport duty free. She is flying UK to USA at the end of June. What are the chances she'll get one?

It is still a month away. Hard to say how store availability will be another month out (right now there is none) and/or when the initial order backlog will be completed.

Even less optimistic on that whole "duty free" thing. Really doubt one can buy one over here retail, duty free, but then whenever I've looked at something "duty FREE" it was a ripoff to begin with. And, then you're supposed to declare upon arrival & pay the luxury tax on electronics (can be as high as 25%), maybe I'm missing something, but I'd rather pay the 5-7% tax and be done with it.

I was told the stainless steel one can scratch easily, just like the back of the early generations of iPods...

During the Apple Watch pre-order window, many models were listed with 4-6 weeks shipping estimates, or May 13 to May 27. With today marking the start of that timeframe, it appears that Apple is on schedule to begin shipping these delayed models to customers for delivery as soon as today.

Just to be pedantic: they aren't delayed if they're shipping in the window that was given to people when they ordered, are they?

the SS 38mm one that I ordered on day one has yet to ship. Why is everyone getting theirs except me? There is a conspiracy I tell you. Even worse is the one I ordered for my wife at the same time that has always said July. I am so close to giving up and canceling - do I really need this watch and the frustration of waiting for so long with not a peep from Angela or Tim?

(yes there is a bit of sarcasm in there, please don't take it all as literal. The frustration is real.)

I love Apple. Been an Apple head before it was cool to be one. But this is the first Apple product I'm not lusting after. Guess I'm just not a watch guy.

This launch has really been an exercise in patience and frustration, starting with the 3AM launch time, website offline till 3:10 etc.

Did you by chance order later in the day? or even evening?

As Apple is fulfilling the orders first come first serve (outside of celebrities, vip and media)

But don't lose hope yet. As long as they don't postpone your order completion date, it could change anywhere from the next hour to the next day and still be delivered in a matter of days, or the 26th

Still says June for my Black Sport. I figured that would be a mass produced one and I'd have it sooner. Guess not.

My 42MM Space Gray Sport ordered @ 12:04AM moved to "preparing for shipment" last night. Card was charged. I assume it'll be here tomorrow. Finally Apple got off their asses.

Apple probably figures since you don't have your watch yet, you won't be able to tell how late the shipment is.

My aunt ordered 38 SS Blue Modern Buckle on the 10th, a few minutes after midnight. It hadn't budged. I told her 2 weeks ago to place a new order for 38 SS Black Sport Band (she had ordered BSB as a separate purchase on the 11th).

The new order arrived last week and she canceled orders from the 10th and 11th.

She'll order the blue MB when it becomes available. However, all MB bands as (individual purchase) are stillI showing UNAVAILABLE on Apple's website.

Not everything is in American dollars.

I've officially determined that on this forum, it's "cool" to call out Americans, and Americans only.

The first picture was clearly the price in USD, so why not assume the second is also in USD? Especially when it uses the same $ sign and the editor didn't add the Canada caption until after?

I'm flattered, as an American, that our comments make everyone so butt hurt. America must really be amazing, sheesh.

Slim to none, I would have thought.

Firstly, Dixons (if that's where you were thinking of) doesn't actually sell anything "duty free" in airside shops.

Also, keep in mind if thinking of buying in the US that "Apple may restrict warranty service for hardware products to the country where Apple or its Authorized Distributors originally sold the device."

(from http://www.apple.com/legal/warranty/products/warranty-us.html)

Please keep posting iWatch shipment updates! It's so exciting to hear about boxes leaving distort centers, just knowing there's a rich person waiting to receive it! :DI LIVE FOR THIS!

Come on MacRumors, everyone knows you should only post articles that are of interest to this one user, koulmj. Stop posting articles that other people could be interested in. Jeez!

 :D

Considering I'm from New Jersey, all one had to do is remember that the cost of Apple products sold in the US usually end in $__99 or $__49, with the rarity being the iPad variants sold at $__29 (and when it comes to accessories, all bets are off).

So, when you see something as "oddball" for us Americans as $__19, I have to remember that Apple is sold all around the world, so I usually go for the possibility it's not USD, but rather CAD, AUD, NZD, SGD, and so forth.

Got the confirmation email at 3.14am (EST) and still says processing. The latest order being in the "preparing for shipment" status I saw had a 3.12am order confirmation. Hope it makes my departure from the US.

Dissapointing

It's disappointing that Apple is gouging their customers on the cost of the watch bands. I have been very critical of Apple's product pricing for years, but the watch band pricing is outrageous and completely unnecessary. Apple does not need to recoup R&D costs through the high profit margin on their Watch accessories and when its costing thousands more for a watch band just because its associated with a gold Edition watch, it is borderline criminal. I thought charging $250 more for an extra $5 worth of memory in an iPhone model was outrageous, Apple's watch band pricing is probably the most blatant form of highway robbery in modern retail history. $599 for a stainless steel watchband is insane, period.

When are consumers going to call out Apple to justify and adjust their profit model? I don't care how much of a fanboi you are, but paying hundreds or even thousands extra for a watch band that does nothing but connect your Apple Watch to your wrist that is just insane, period. Tim Cooks can dupe millions by stating that the components costs are not the total costs of the device, but how do you justify how $20 worth of stainless steel turns into a $600 accessory when other watch manufactures have been making watches with stainless steel bands for far less then that.

The watch band should cost nothing extra for a watch that already has high profit margins. If Timex or Casio did this back in the day, charged you $40 for the watch and then $400 for the band they would simply not exist today. But Apple doing this is not only defended by the fanbois people rush out and support this rip-off by buying millions of these things in the first few days.

Fanbois, time to wake up. Apple is gouging you because they know you are naive, gullible and have no impulse control. You are eskimos and Apple is the slick ice salesmen that wonders into your village one day with a slimy smile on their face...

Ordered at 3:03am the Space Gray sport for my husband. He got his on launch day. Ordered at 3:05 the same SS Pink Modern Buckle you did. Delivery for 5/13-5/27. Today is 5/13 and I've not had any word from apple. Not preparing for shipment. No credit card charge. Nada. So I guess I play the waiting game for possibly 2 more weeks. Let's hope it's just 2 more weeks but I have a bad feeling about this.
