It already includes USB-C cable. For the last 3 (soon to be 4) iPhones. You know this right? They stopped including USB-A cables years ago.

Edit: LMAO, we downvote facts now.
People don’t downvote facts. People downvote replies that seem to be barking at others like they’re dumb while giving facts. Or yelling in all caps to get your point across, like your follow up reply.

The second back pack is for the power bricks, dongles and adapters for all the permutations of USB-A, USB-C, & Lightening including the micro-usb for the Android and Windows world.

The so called good news is having USB-C on all new products. The bad news is ALL of the now obsolete variations of Lightening cables and devices get a trip to a land fill somewhere.
It’s called Lightning btw. 😄

Hopefully, they put the USB-C charging port on the FRONT edge of the Mouse instead of the bottom like the current Lightning port is.
Putting it on the bottom means you can't use it while it's charging.
Do you ever take bathroom breaks? You will get more than 24 hours of charge if you get up from your desk for like 5 minutes.

This is one of the only few things I can say against Apple products. All the products from this list should adopt USB C now!
In fact, Apple added USB before any other brand on the Mac, Why not do it on the other products? Come on Apple give us what we want and need!

It's absolutely bonkers that Mac input devices are Lightning-based. They should've used USB-C from the moment Macs adopted USB-C.

As for the MagSafe Battery Pack, it should be charged through MagSafe Charger. That is, I should be able to place the iPhone with the battery pack on top of the MagSafe charger to charge both devices.

Maybe they'll put the port on the mouse on the edge so you can actually use it while charging instead of the brain-dead bottom port.
By putting the charger on the bottom, they force everyone to use it wirelessly, which re-enforces the fact that you use the wire to charge it and not for data.

Imagine your 90 year old parent just keeps it plugged in, and then one day it goesn't work. they'll think the mouse is broken, instead of trying to charge it. It was a deliberate design decision, and Apple isn't going to take it back because they made an oops.

They will take it back if they determine that people who don't buy it because it charges from the bottom cost more in missed sales than supporting a 90 year old person's dementia does, but only then.

Some of the products mentioned in this article as having USB-C ports are actually Thunderbolt ports.

This article actively made me LOL.

So what is lightning will be USB-C but somehow you missed out on the wireless keyboards and the wireless charging pucks

The transition will be painful for wired CarPlay, since a USB-C iPhone will need an adapter to connect to a USB-A port in cars.

The USB-C to USB-C cable that would be included would be no good since most cars have USB-A ports, and any lightning to USB-A cables would be useless, too.
not at all...my 2019 Ram truck has USB C for wired CarPlay already.
It will be nice when apple finally can have one standard port and cable for all of their devices.
I mean I can travel and bring one cable to charge all of my devices. Like MBP, iPad and iPhone...it is really very overdue

USB-C on a Magic Mouse? Oh, please! Charging on the bottom is a big F.U. mess. Nothing like having to stop work during the day when Notification Manager decides it’s good enough to wait until your mouse is down to 2% critically low charge to let you know what‘s up. What a complete UX fail.

Apple should just bring back the battery-powered Mouse if they can’t figure that out.

I'm so glad I will be forced to pay a ton of money to buy all new stuff. Thanks EU! Thanks for helping me spend my money and throw out stuff. What a great time to do it too! Hey inflation is on the rise and maybe a recession. Lets now force people to replace all their expensive lightning devices. Way to look out for the rest of us.
Lightning isn't "suddenly useless" for you unless you purposely go out of your way to buy all new devices without Lightning and get rid of all your old ones. That's not the EU or Apple's fault.

I don't really care about what connectors the Apple stuff, or other tech for that matter, have or will have.
I have a few boxes with plenty of various cords and connectors. I will probably buy another few when Apple change.
It have happened before, it will continue to happen.
I was sorting out a lot of old ethernet cables from some boxes, bought some new in case I will have use of them. I don’t have so much use for them at the moment though. But who knows tomorrow...
That’s tech life, boxes of old cords 😂
