Also Apple lost the $999 notebook pricepoint when they moved to intel and have not been able to break the $1099 barrier since. Apple has always been a fan of clean prices. $299, $999, $1999. With a few more models they can get that $999 price point with a 1.83GHZ, 60gig, and 512 pretty easy now and can expect this to draw even more people in the door only to upgrade later, as the midrange macbook is the best selling to date, not the lowest priced one.

If they do get updated all I can hope for is that they start the summer student iPod promotion early. If both these things happen VISA is getting a call to let them know that I have definitely approved the purchase.

Here's hoping!

Please let this come, there are non-geeks that have been asking me when to buy Apple notebooks b/c of updates and Student-iPod sale promotion... if this comes i'll look like a god to them :p

Ah, nice black MBP or red MB would be a killer for me! I would run to the local Mac store instantly. Only I am in NZ now and it will be a pain to sell my notebook without the box cds and booklets :(

i would definatly go for a black MBP to add to my current MBP that would be killer especially with something better than an x1600, but Ati or Nvidia:confused:

Next 'MacBook' update a yawner

A forthcoming update to Apple Inc.'s 13-inch line of consumer MacBooks won't deliver much in terms of new features, AppleInsider has learned.

MacBook due Wednesday

I ordered a Macbook last Wednesday. It's been delayed and according to Apple's shipping info ( & Fedex - Rush Service) it is scheduled to arrive this Wednesday from Beijeng, CN. It sat all weekend at the FedEx depot in Beijeng and was released today. If it is the Macbook I ordered I will be happy, if it has an upgrade I will be thrilled. By the way I have ordered several computers from Apple, this is the first being sent from Beijeng, CN

btw, if you want to save big, get a new macbook (Current lineup) at the apple store tomorrow, the discount will be big

word is 300-600 off the c2ds (current lineup)

An inexpensive 15" option would be a nice idea. I think there are a lot of people who'd like the bigger screen without the extra power of the Pro models. Ideally, I'd like to see the entry level model at $999 with 1GB RAM and a Superdrive. The other specs could even remain exactly the same. It's time for the combo drive to die.

I'll throw my guess in.

I think that, should Apple indeed do anything tomorrow, and should their new products be multicolored, that perhaps Apple may not recolor the existing MacBooks at all. They may instead introduce a new design (perhaps an ultra portable), in perhaps a metal casing to match the iPod Nano, and release it in several different colors.

Also, though I find the possibility unlikely, I would still like for Apple to name the hypothetical new product "iBook", as it would make sense - unless they rename the iMac to simply "Mac", or "MacMac." Because right now, it appears that their laptop category is the only category which doesn't have a product with an i-prefix. (Ignoring server line - though iServe might be an interesting computer.)

Maybe Apple leaked something like this to lower expectations? Maybe?? Please??? :D

2 cents

It's going to be difficult to sell 5 different configs.

However, I thought the same with the iPod. They kept it simple and it worked. I wouldn't like to see 20 different models (like the list of Creative mp3 players)

MacBooks have that crazy punch like the iPod. Everyone distinguishes a Mac from the rest. I can't wait to see them.

If its true, Good luck Apple!

If this is the case, the there's some upgrade coming..! :-D

Where did you hear about the price reductions?

I'm pretty sure his statement banks on the rumors that the new ones will be released tomorrow. He wasn't implying that he knew prices were dropping tomorrow.

One for Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.
hehe!

On Sunday, the Sabbath, a Dell 20incher 'laptop' for carrying to church and back. The Dell is for bodily mortification, and to teach us the holy virtues of a sleek Apple design. (for G-D rested on a Sunday and created nothing worth keeping.)

yeah, and we will also be taught w/ an old 386 to understand the role of jesus in apple!!

hahaha it's mostly anything!
