My instructions really didn't help in terms of the notifications mysteriously disappearing off the watch within a few seconds of receiving them, so I'm still waiting on a true fix.
Yes, I'm getting this as of today. I get the mail notification on the watch (with sound and haptic) but, when I look at the watch a few seconds later, there's no red notification dot and the watch says No Notifications.

Yup, that's what happens to me

That was happening to me too. I unpaired and updated to 5.0.1 and that seemed to work for me.

Glad I found this thread...I was going nuts trying to figure out why my notifications quit working. I just got the iPXS Max and paired it and everything was working. I think it quit working after the last watch OS update. I tried the "fix" earlier in the thread. Also checked all the settings and did the things brought up in the past when notifications quit working (i.e. cover screen and wrist detection setting).

I also tried everything suggested here, unfortunately it didn't help. Called Apple yesterday, was on the phone over 2 hours and nothing we tried worked, including unpairing and repairing. He escalated up to engineering and said we should know something by Monday. He seemed to think, it would needed to be fixed in the next update.
Mine is a Apple Watch 3.

I was having this problem but found out that my settings for new mail under “Sound & Haptics” was set to default (none). Had to manually choose a sound and vibration. This is in the main phone settings and not the watch settings.
In short: double check your sound and haptic settings.
Sorry if this was covered already. Don’t feel like reading through the posts.

This was my issue as well. They must have turned it off by default in in iOS 12 because it was working fine before that and I don't remember ever having to go and change this setting

Thanks man! This was driving me nuts trying to figure out a solution. Works great now.

I usually have my phone on silent since I get notifications on the watch but now that I'm not, I turned it off silent and found out my phone isn't giving notifications either. WTH.

*EDIT* The lack of audible phone notification is because the phone thinks it is being sent to the watch. Took off the watch and the notifications on the phone work as normal.

It was covered earlier in the thread ;) It hasn't worked for everybody, though, but it did for me.

I do think there is a general issue with notifications in iOS 12, though. I've had a number of apps on my iPhone not showing badges or making a sound until the phone is rebooted. Hopefully all will be fixed in subsequent point releases.

Got my new AW4 today, not updated to 5.01 and I still have the issue with no notification. I'm surprised there aren't more people complaining about this.

*Edit* - Rayban's post above is spot on...that worked for me. It must have changed in iOS 12

I too am having mail notification issues. Bought the Series 3 last week, set it up, upgraded to IOS 5...no mail notifications at all. Spent 2 hours on the phone with Apple support yesterday, was escalated to a supervisor...no luck. He said they are aware that many folks having this issue, and hopefully it would be resolved in the next release, but he couldn't make any promises. Took the watch back today and exchanged it just to be sure ....set up the new watch, but did not upgrade to IOS 5. Now I am getting intermittent mail notifications. Tried every suggestion in this thread but still intermittent. So I guess we wait.

I actually noticed the default notifications for Mail on iPhone sets to None for Sound and perhaps this is why notifications don't appear on the watch anymore? As it mirrors the phone?

Yes for whatever reason mail defaults to no sound or vibration on iOS 12, I changed those and have no issues with notifications on my Watch.

I have set my notifications to no sound or vibration on phone, but specifically set it to haptics on watch (NOT mirror phone)... not working since iOS12 and watchOS 5.

Yes, that's what's broken at the moment. You need to set vibration and sound on your iPhone, then 'mirror phone' in the watch app.

Curious as to the status here with others. Anyone’s just magically correct itself? I still can’t get the red dot to show anything for email in the notifications center. It was working for a while and then swapped out my aluminum for a stainless and back to square one. Got the haptic to work but won’t show up in notifications center. Apple tech support said they know about it but nothing they can do right now. So annoying. Others still dealing with this?

I'm assuming I still have the problem but I've resorted to just using a 3rd party email app (in my case FastMail) b/c I had already wasted enough time trying to troubleshoot the problem. I'm just waiting for an update to come out and people start reporting that the problem had been resolved before trying again.
