Flash=ads. Yawn.
If only it were that easy. Truth is, a lot of companies will give up XP and the dinosaurs running it when such boxen are pried out of their cold, money-grubbing hands.XP is going to soon go under the "Unsupported" heading by Microsoft. All companies will be switching to Windows 7 soon enough.
I hope Mozilla changes its mind about H.264. Not expecting it, but it surely would simplify things. All you have to do is set a fall back to Flash if HTML5 H.264 is not supported by the browser. It's pretty clear that H.264 will be the winner, Mozilla is just fighting a losing battle.

It does indeed lower my CPU usage on flash. Downside is now it uses NVIDIA GPU instead of Intel GPU so it will drain battery.
Seems that the intel GPU should be more than capable of playing 1080p flash.
So it seems like Apple is throwing Adobe a bone, but still insists that flash will drain the battery. Of course it would on NVIDIA GPU.
Intel GPU should be more than capable of playing flash 1080p.
Flash will still support PowerPC after 10.1 update goes out. It will just be the last update for G3 Processors. G4's and G5's will still get updates but no hardware acceleration as that requires 10.6.3 plus supported cards.
pretty pointless with 3 graphics cards. Flash still sucks
No, Flash really isn't more capable than those internet standards. Also you should watch Microsoft's latest presentation for IE9, they are really pushing for internet standards with their next release.

Yeah they want you to upgrade to their new hardware. But honestly, who is dumb enough to invest (again) in upgrading to a product line when it is quite obvious the company is not willing to support the hardware to the extent that it is possible (you call that good customer service?). Apple's pathetic driver support is making me consider whether or not I should remain an Apple consumer. Love or hate the windows platform, the fact that it allows for the manufacturers of the hardware to write their drivers ensures some responsibility. Apple really needs to get their act together. Nickel and Diming their consumer base isn't the way to go. Offering the best products, the best support, etc. is a viable long-term strategy.
Explain to me what magic you think Adobe can pull out of their anus to make Flash suddenly more advanced than all of these internet standards. Adobe is too busy trying to fix performance issues on Flash, let alone add anything. Everything they've added just added more bloat. It needs a rewrite or better yet to just go away.Sorry, I'd have to disagree, Flash not being more capable than web standards. Flash will progress faster than web standards in order to keep itself a competitive edge with the threat of HTML5.
Payments will not stop H.264 from eventually steam rolling over Ogg.http://news.cnet.com/8301-30685_3-20000040-264.html
H.264 will require royalty payments. This may very well impede H.264's success on the web as the video format of choice.
Personally, I think it's everyone involved's fault. Apple for not making the APIs and whatever available, & Adobe for not taking advantage of it & writing clean, efficient code.
Also, I'll add my discontent about the lack of Mac Pro support. Unless I read the article wrong (which is entirely possible.)
To make it work in Chrome, close Chrome, open a Terminal and cd to /Applications/Google Chrome.app/Contents/Versions/<your chrome version>/ and delete the flash plugin in there that comes with Chrome. Now install the new plugin from the DMG using Adobe's installer.
Go here to check your version: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/155/tn_15507.html . It should say "MAC 10,1,81,3".
Some youtube videos don't play smoothly on a 9400M card, like this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VuNIsY6JdUw . Can anyone confirm this? I can see a weird stuttering during playback. Happens in all browsers.
Yes, multiple times. And uninstalled/reinstalled flash multiple times.
