Thanks, its done. So, do I have to manually change settings still when I tether still?

I was wondering the same thing. In that scenario perhaps the poster was thinking that Apple would sue the kid for the 30%...IDK.

It's BS, but it's how Apple offers refunds. They refund the full to the buyer and still keep their 30%. They also do not tell the developer why they issued the refund. Sucks really.

WHY ARE PEOPLE RATING THIS POSITIVE?

this is such a shame. Apple and At&t work hard to provide us with service and you should all be thankful that tethering is offered AT ALL by ATT.

ATT has the best 3g experience and you are all going to clog up its networks by utilizing the 3g for laptops. Not to mention that they are by far the best cell phone company out there and i've had the best customer experience with them. Its sad to see people taking advantage of such a great network for cheap thrills. you people should be ashamed after all ATT has done for you.

And your real name is Ralph de la Vega?

Oh, my bad, this HAS to be SARCASM, right?

So there is a post indicating that you can get this to work from an un-jailbroken iPhone to an un-jailbroken iPad. I know you have to specify a socks.pac file in the iPad auto http proxy. Some posts that detail setting up an iPad with iProxy show how to do this with airsharing, Has anyone gotten this to work?

"Easter eggs must be declared"????? OK Apple, that's STUPID! A Easter egg is a HIDDEN joke/feature. So basically EE's (Easter Egg) won't be EE's.

Another thing that Apple Pisses me off about.

Got It

And I missed it...

Saw it last night here on MR, went directly to download it before Apple caught on.

I have Netshare from when it was 1st released and it works great, along with this app, only thing is that AT&T's horrible network bogs down.

Slightly off topic but the developer for another app I know personally has the Verizon mifi that he use's for his iPad and the speed blows away AT&T's .

We had 2 MBP's, 1 iPad and 1 iPhone connected and there was NO lag all connections were blazing.

Either iPhone goes to verizon or I'm seriously thinking of porting over too verizon. AT&T's crappy network and dropped calls is getting ridiculous and since the bars are showing the proper coverage its really pitiful. Less bars in more places should be there new logo.

I got the Light App last night as well. I also have a Verizon Mifi. Hands down ATT has to step it up as a network as a whole.

Has anyone figured out a way to tether to a WiFi iPad?

Also the network setup has disappeared from my iPhone from last night. Why would the network I set up in the phone go away?

Under OS X it is not required to give your WiFi card on your Macbook an IP in the same subnet as the iPhone for the ad hoc network. Somehow it is able to work without any normal TCP/IP networking setup. Windows however does require that you assign an IP address in the same subnet.

I know some had asked earlier

and someone even posted a way to do, but needed a jailbroken iPad.

Anyone know of any simple solution to be able to tehter my iPhone internet connection to my WiFI only iPad

I posted earlier in this thread that the app will serve up a proxy pac config file, but it lists the wrong port # of 8888 in there, should be 1337. I just tried hitting the default file being served when hitting http://13.37.13.37:8080 though, perhaps http://13.37.13.37:8080/socks.pac will grab a different pac file with a working SOCKS proxy config. Worth a try for someone to give that a shot.

I was lucky enough to download Handy Light but did not catch Netshare when it was released. How does Handy Light compare to Netshare? For example, are you able to tether an iPad without using the laptop?

This has got to be this year's best forum post. Thank you so much for such a relieving and pleasant moment of laughter.

Tell me about it, i don't even live in the US but i had to read it at least 3 times to make sure i understood that he was saying what i thought he was and that i wasn't losing my mind!

Btw i've tried this in the UK on the o2 network and although there is no reason why it wouldn't work, it does work! I only have 500mb a month but as far as i can work out o2 is trying to keep it quiet that it won't actually be enforced and neither will the ability to buy a bolt on exist till october.

Damn I missed this. I guess that's what I get for not checking MR this morning (not that really look at the front page either).

I appreciate the response, but aren't those the same directions? I know it may seem like it but I'm really not an idiot. I attached screenshots, if anyone sees anything wrong please let me know but I'm fairly sure that I followed instructions correctly.

Edit: Notice my AirPort light is yellow instead of green and under status it states that I have a self-assigned IP and won't be able to connect to the internet. In the dev's video, his AirPort light was green and it said he "may not" be able to connect to the internet. Any ideas?

I have the same problem...works sometimes...sometimes doesn't...sometimes REALLLLLY SLOW.

Success!

Okay, so I got it to work now. I created a new connection and set the SOCKS proxy, and bam, it worked! It's pretty fast too, faster than I expected. Posting this while tethering!

Windows Vista

I created the network on the computer, accessed it on my phone, changed the IP/Subnet Mask... both devices connect but I cannot access the internet because the network is unidentified.

Anyone know what I'm doing wrong here? I've followed all of the steps, since I'm able to establish connection between the devices, Vista is not recognizing access to the internet.

I got it before Apple pulled it whoohoo! They might finally bring out the kill-switch for this one though.

That's what I keep wondering.

I suspect that Apple won't just because they've never kill switched NetShare or whatever the name of that app was.

I think Apple is saving the kill switch for a trojan horse or viral app or something, I don't think Apple honestly gives a **** if people abuse AT&T's network.

What am I missing here? People keep saying that in the case of a refund consumers get a full refund and Apple keeps their 30%. But, this just doesn't seem to make sense. I pay $1.00 in the app store. Ordinarily the developer would get $0.70 and Apple would get $0.30. Now, let's suppose that Apple issues a refund of my $1.00 App Store purchase. I get my $1.00 back. But, now wait a second. How is Apple going to keep their $0.30 if they've just given the full $1.00 back to me?
