a foldable iPhone:
- Apple has regressed to skating to where the puck has been...
- a desk jockey's dream come true

Meanwhile Siri and iOS need a Snow Leopard-type tune-up more than any other stupid idea that is 7-years too late.
Most people loved when Apple skated to where the Phablet puck had been.

If there is a remote possibility I could ditch my iPad and just have a phone and laptop, I’m in.

Most likely the Fold will be Apples 20th anniversary innovation to its customers. Doubtful we’ll see it in 2026. Hopefully I’m wrong Unfortunately Apples timeliness for bringing new products forward leaves a lot to be desired

Apple will have to absolutely demonstrate the quality of the screen and the invisibility of the fold before they make it available. Will not pay top dollar when competitors have come quite a ways in these areas.

That would be a share since Apple has an innovation issue today.

Difference being that Samsung actually has great Trade-In deals and goodies so you never actually need to pay that ridiculous full price
I trade in my phone with my carrier every 2 years and they give me like $800 toward the new one and then split the difference up over 2 years.

I wouldn't replace my phone with a foldable one, but I might replace my ipad AND phone with one. for that, 2k seems more reasonable.

DOA, sorry but when the iPad Pro 11” costs from 999, a phone with a 7” screen and less power, cause it won’t have the M chips in it, is a VERY hard sell at a starting price of 2300 no doubt with 256GB storage. It’s a decent MacBook Pro price! It’s more then the baseline Mac Studio!!!

The rumors keep saying $2000+. The more I think about this product, the more I’m interested. But at the same time, I'd feel very uncomfortable carrying around a $2000 device with me all the time.

(currently) I have zero interest in a folding iPhone, but I would love to see iPhone mirroring in AVP, leveraging Optic ID from the AVP to "unlock" a mirrored view of the iPhone inside the AVP. That mirrored view could be superimposed on top of the pass-though real iPhone but at sharper resolution if one wants to "touch" buttons on the mirrored phone view.

If I need to use OKTA/TruU from my iPhone (which is relying on faceID to authenticate), it would be nice that I don't have to take my AVP off my face to provide the iPhone a clear view of my face. Just like the Mac Virtual display, the iPhone display could remain dark, but the rendered iPhone image would be viewable inside the AVP and security would be authenticated by Optic ID

So in Australia I paid $2149 for the 256gb iPhone 16 Pro Max. This is going to be a pricey device. It would want to be amazing.
