When checking more information on foldable market in the US... Moto has a more budget friendly portfolio compared to Google, which helps in grabbing more market share. If I'm a average joe that walks into a carrier store and see a Razr that can be had under 500, I would opt for that instead of a 1500+ foldable.

And I agree with you Pixel UI has a compeling interface... but the average joe looks more at the price tag. Moto is now stepping into the premium market with their book-style foldable... when Google started from the jump and they don''t have any flip phone nor do I think they plan on making one.
Good points. Pixel isn't appealing to mainstream users due to price, and isn't appealing to (enough) enthusiasts due to design, performance, and battery life.

Either lower the price like early Nexus phones or make flagship Pixel phones more compelling against the competition.

I can't believe the trifold is just... gone. You lucky few that have one also have a very valuable collectible now on top of it.
I can't believe there are rumors of Samsung releasing a phone later this year with a 12.4" rollable screen with S Pen support! Just rumors right? But maybe Samsung shifted focus from TriFold to rollable. That said, I'm shocked too over the demise of the TriFold, it's an incredible device and really well-made.

I'm looking forward to the rollable, I don't think it was a demise for the Trifold as it just went according to plan for Samsung

Rollable? I don't know. Kinda skeptical of that... because you'll need some small motor to load in the screen and seeing that LG prototype vid that MKBHD showed off. I don't think rollable is the next phase we are after... Samsung should focus on perfecting UDC technology and eliminating the crease (maybe do more testing on silicon battery so we can have it on the foldable).

They even have this rollable screen from Lenovo... but I'd actually prefer something like those dual screen laptop over it.

Oh yeah definitely have to perfect some other things on current Folds first agree but I like different if they can get it right with testing

It will be interesting to see how well the crease is minimized on the foldable iPhone and Fold 8. Rollables are even more complex, for sure, but it eliminates the crease entirely instead of trying to minimize it -- not that the crease has ever bothered me. But if the crease has now risen to the top of the priority list then that tells me Samsung has solved many of the initial drawbacks of foldables (weight, thickness, usability, etc.).

Do you think apps will look better on the Galaxy Fold Wide than on the current wave of foldables?

For me, aside from the cover screen being a bit too narrow, the biggest issue with the Galaxy Z Fold 7 is the lack of app optimization. And I’m not even talking about niche apps, it’s mostly Google apps that look and feel right. So many third party apps on the unfolded screen are just blown‑up versions of regular slab‑phone layouts, and often even worse because they show less information on screen 🫠

Nowadays devs optimize their apps to have a have tablet option... well, at least the apps that I use. Do you mind sharing any 3rd party apps that doesn't have a tablet app?

That is the problem, that most foldables are seen by android as just big phones and you get stretched out apps, not the tablet versions. On the top of my mind I can name: Tidal, Reddit, Instagram, proton mail, even Gmail doesn't trigger the two column view.

You can get a bit more of extra info screen if you change the default zoom level. I'll upload some screenshots. Please let me know how these settings look for you 🙏🏼, if I remember correctly, these are the default settings:

Maybe I can just play around with the worst offender apps (like Instagram) and do some testing to see how they can look more decent.

I don't really use Instagram app... mostly use it on the web, cause that app tend to be a battery hog. But Apple Music has a tablet app... I use Sync for Reddit via ReVance (which has a tablet layout). And GMail supposedly has a two column layout.... you might need to make changes to force it.

And I also made changes to my minimum width in develop settings.... it's a method to allow more content displayed on the screen. This helps in forcing apps to show in tablet mode... I do this with Google Play Store to give me a tablet layout.

Man, what font is that and where'd you download it from ? Love it!!! Thanks
Funny enough it's an old font that I paid for at the Galaxy store and now that Samsung broke our third party font installs I'm using it to hold me over.. I usually like to switch fonts regularly..FloraLatin

Potentially ordering when they open it up for preorders… but as I stated earlier if the S-Pen is tied to the standard Fold, then that’s the one I’ll go with. Which device are you targeting? Anyone of the Galaxy Folds? Pixel Fold? iPhone Ultra?
I'm thinking wide bc Fold 8 from Fold 7 won't be much of a difference to me..second option iPhone Ultra and keep Fold 7..though I would rather wait on the iPhone till round 2

Whichever device one gets at this point in time you will not go wrong

These foldables have matured. I have had great experience with ZF7 and officially never going back to using slab phones. The trade offs no longer make sense.

Razr Fold reviews will be out soon. I've seen a lot of unboxings and quick rundowns. I like what I've seen so far.
I'm not getting another phone until March at the earliest (I know I should step up my game ) so I'll have a pretty good idea of what I want to get by then.
