100% agree with everything you said, we're both on the same page. And I'm ready to move over to widebody mode lol
In anticipation of the widebody lol... you should check more videos of the Pura X Max, that's what I been doing while I wait for Samsung to release their version of it.

Haha I've seen quite a few of those videos myself, it's a shame they're not around here

Hardware wise... its a no-brainer that the Rarz Fold is a winner, bigger battery... slightly bigger screen... better cameras. But I always make it known that Hardware is half of the equation... software is crucial as well. And I would choose Google over Razr... if Samsung was out the picture.

And it appears Google is working closely with Samsung bringing their exclusive features for Android 17 to Galaxy devices... so thats a greater advantage on the software side.

So, basically the upgrades include newer chip, better ultra-wide lens and bigger battery along with charging speeds. I suspect the Fold 8 Wide will outsell the standard Fold 8 primarily for the reason its different.
I want to see more on the Motorola software. On a foldable I don't think Pixel software is worth it to me unless the multitasking is vastly improved with android 17.
As far as AI I love the Gemini integration on my Pixel and I would hope stuff like circle to search is on the Razr but I am sure overall Samsung has better integration using Bixby and Gemini.

Well, Pixel has the the new bubble feature... is that something of worth to you? Reminds me of Pop-Up window that Samsung has had for years. I think Pixel implementation of it is more limited (since you can't resize the apps) ... however I do like the animations. I use the Pop-Window feature... but I don't really multitask from it.

Curious how many people use it... don't see many reviewers discuss it let alone go in to detail, wonder if Samsung decide to go with Pixel method .

I'm not on a beta so I haven't tried it. I hope it helps. I'm a big fan of Samsung's split windows and floating windows even though I'm on a Pixel slab now.

Nothing wrong with having more options to choose from... This is Samsung testing the waters to see how well the Fold 8 Wide sells... they only brought this out because of Apple.

And if iPhone Ultra (or Fold)... sells like crazy, it would potentially push Samsung to heavily market the Fold 8 Wide over the standard which if that happens and it overwhelming outsells the standard Fold 8. I could see Samsung making the Fold 8 Wide the defacto choice going forward.

But why did Google Pixel drop the wide format ? 🙂 and Motorola went with the tall format too ?

I suspect the Samsung wide will be 2 rear cameras but with S-Pen support to distinguish it from Apple and the Samsung tall with 3 cameras but no S-Pen but maybe higher capacity batteries. They are not going to make it easy for us to decide IMO 🙂

The Samsung wide maybe more popular initially simply as many Fold users may just fancy a change after 7 iterations.

Reason why Google dropped the wide format was due to criticism of the letterbox pillarbox apps… while Samsung built in support for apps not optimized for tablet support, Google didn’t. My guess for Moto is they went with the safe bet… all these bookstyle foldables have a tall format, stay with the status quo.

Simple for me... going wherever the S-Pen is supported 😉

Yes, they did. the Oppo does better in the night. Not my idea of photo time anyways. I am going to moto for our next devices. Cheap, reliable and good battery life.
I'm not going to get another phone until March most likely and I'm going to look into the second version of the Motorola fold and their flip also.

Same as us. We both have Pixel 8 Pros. Our next phones are going to be moto G stylus 2026 or newer, depending on how long our current phones last. I just to make sure that the moto has Ai dictation for my wife's work. She uses it to create minutes for her meetings. Saves her hours of time.

I'll go wide simply because it is much better for media consumption. Letterboxing isn't nearly as bad. Loving the Trifold in this regard. I'll welcome a smaller more pocketable wide fold. But even then I may not get it because the Trifold is just too dang good.

Yeah, I seen another post claiming the same from another leaker.

Smh… Part of me wants to buy the iPhone Ultra (Fold) for myself just out of spite cause I’m just not feeling that Moto Razr Fold nor the Pixel Fold.
Another thing that I've been seeing a lot of lately is talk about a weaker hinge, what's up with that? I don't know I might just go iPhone Ultra and stay with my current Androids...

I think it’s more of misunderstanding… the hinge is not as rigid as it was before, be less effort opening when reaching the 30 to 45 degree mark.

Yeah, you are multiple phone user lol. If I were in your shoes…. I’ll go with the iPhone Ultra and keep the Fold 7, but you gotta Pixel 10 Pro XL right?

Yup that's correct I'm using the Pixel which I enjoy plenty too, haha lately using the Fold more at home and travel with iPhone and Pixel

Yeah, that makes sense... since the Fold can be used as tablet. And if I'm not mistaken... you have only one SIM card? So... when you travel I'm guessing the Pixel gets SIM card while you hotspot for the iPhone... no?

No, I have two cell phone lines, two separate phone numbers which I've used for the longest.

Yeah... you right. I recall discussing the possibility of combining those two lines and using one number for two phones... since you daily drive iOS and Android.

Yep, I think eventually I will consolidate. I like having separate lines. $85 for two lines is not too shabby and $50 reimbursement from work makes it a keeper for now.

I think the part that gets me a little upset if it's true will be that Samsung will provide Apple screens to improve inside crease while not upgrading their own.
