It could be. I don't know what their setup is, or how much access I would have, but I'll see what I can do if I get the job! I just hope I can get the job, it's starting range is from $44,000-$57,000. That would be sweet!

wow, nice.

How much do you make currently? ;)

$12 an hour maintaining the computers, networks, and anything else that goes down at 9 different kinkos locations. So this is a way better job if I get it. They are looking for someone who knows how to fix computers, trouble shoot, install software ect., and who has experience with printing equipment like OCR scanners, digital cameras, desktop printers, so I would be doing the exact same thing there as I do now, but it would be for the gov't. and making sweet $$$.

new folder

Started folding recently, found out I had 2 user names setup by accident.
Oh Well. So I am currently 211 instead of 165. Its all for a good cause.

Anyway - I have the following folding:
400 mhz G3
550 mhz PIII HP Kayak
350 mhz PIII HP Netserver L3
333 mhz PII Nec Laptop

All 3 windows are doing 100% 24x7 - except when I have to actually do something on them.

I had the same problem. I had a machine setup to do dual processing, and the second copy didn't have my name, so all the points went to "y" because when it asked for a name, it had y or n. I though it wanted to know if I wanted a name, so I typed "y". It just made that my name though. Later after it finished a bunch of wu's I checked and it had the wrong name. Oh well. I think I'm doing ok anyway!

I know they have been beating us for a while but now General [M]ayhem's score is 36,491.05 a week !!! Where did that come from? We'd have to have some serious push to fend them off ! Is it only me or are MSU ACM starting to get annoying, they are so close on the graph (wasnt there a time when they were distroying us?) but everytime we slightly close the gap and out fold them, all of a sudden after a few days they increase as well and slightly outfold us....they'd be a great scalp id we just eeked out that slight more power....maybe just one more computer would do it...grrrrr

Hehe, I hear yah.

If I ever the my old original 233 School Mac (see 'All in One') if i ever get that repaired (it died for no reason) I'll put it on folding, sure it will dump every other month, it is is something. :p

If there were an Alpha compiled version of Folding I could install FAH onto my dads 64-bit Alpha server. It used to run SETTI@home but he took that off.

I need to set up my own proxy and get my ad to open up a port on is firewall, then I can get my schools computer folding.

Maybe we should go around asking computer stores, offices, schools, universities .... etc to fold for Macrumors.

What is that server? Is it an old printing RIP? What OS does it run? We may be able to get something running on it.

Its a Digital, model: Personal Workstation 500au.
It contains a 500MHz 64-bit alpha CPU, runs NetBSD, it is used for a WebServer, FileServer, DHCP and mail, and conects our computers to the internet.

On average it is 99% idle.

We had a system almost exactly the same as that. It was a printing server. When we bought it, it cost a ton of money. I think you may be able to get the linux version running on it. I'll check with my bro, he's big into unix.

We got it for free about two years ago, someone was giving them away. My dad and I drove from Adelaide to Melburne to pick it up in one day.

Well it turns out that netbsd should run the linux version. However, it seems like the alpha chip may be a road block. If this was an x86 chip of some kind, then we would have no problems, but since it's a 64 bit chip, even if you do get it to run, it will probably not run very well. Why don't you just give it a shot and see?

I seem to teatering on the edge of the top 100 at 101st :). I seem to gain 100 points everytime I put in a WU. How does the points system work? There seems to be people behind me with higher WU's and people ahead with lower ones, whats the deal?

I finally crawled my way up to 3rd place!:D I guess this is the end of the line for me. I don't think I will be moving up anymore, unless some computer gang recruits me and makes me head of their folding division. We'll go around the country hustling people for their computers, and making them fold. The cops will be after us, and when they catch us, and bring us downtown, we'll put folding on their desktops too. Eventually we'll be in prison, getting people to smuggle in laptops for us to fold on. Of course well get the folding @home logo tatooed on our backs, and no one will mess with us.

Uh, maybe I'll just stick with what I got going on here.

:D Yeah I think I have maxed out at 10 also. I gave it a huge push this weekend only to fall short by 7 points from 9th. I will be overtaken in a day or so by dabirdwell to put me out of the top 10. Possibly forever. But hey, the team is kicking some serious bottom! Keep it up!

BASTARD! Just kidding.

What are you folding with? Your active processors reports 0 an has for quite some time.

I know I'll be knocked down to 9 or 10th ranked in the next few months as there are quite a few people with more Mhz folding.

Ha!Ha! I hope that didn't hurt too much!:p You are going to be dropping even further if you don't get your daily rate up.
I don't know what is up with that page. It has always said that I have 0 processors in the last week. I don't know why. Also if I click on my name in the team ranking it doesn't show any info. Strange......

That is very odd....

I only have so many machines to fold with.
2 Pentium 1.7 Ghz
1 AMD 2700+
1 AMD 2000+ > Just added this one over the weekend. Had an old mobo sitting around and threw in a proc for 60 bucks, not bad.
1 Macintosh G3 400 (Tomorrow 800 Mhz ZIF upgrade)
I also have a PIII 450, but it's not on. Will be tomorrow. I have a Pentium PIII 400 that a friend wont give me back  So, I think that's the best I'll be doing until Apple releases a Desktop I'm interested in.

Once in a while my sister has her 800Mhz imac turned on, which I snuck folding onto via MC68K installer. A sister has to be careful when her younger brother is over her house. he he

Also put it on my mothers laptop while visiting, but she never turns the damn thing on, so that's a waste. It has a P III 800.

But too many people are coming on strong with 8, 11, 12 or more processors. They'll pass me soon enough.

Sister? Brother? MC68K?

It's sounding like a soap opera. :D

We are closing the gap!

ABIT may take even longer to beat us if we keep producint 4000 a day! Maybe even them never beating us! :D

Its a strech but our team can get to top 20's if we keep it up! :)

I think if we all got our buddy's computers folding for us, then these guys who only have one or two machines could get some more WU's done. There are alot of people with only a couple cpu's going. If they all got 2 or 3 friends on it, that would be tons!
