Why did you pick it over the others ?

What colour are you getting ?

For me it’s very simple, it has the power of the pro in a small and light package. I had a 16 plus before and it is 199g which is heavy. The pro has a smaller screen and is the same weight and the pro max is a heavy 236g.

The air gives me a 6.5” screen, almost the same as the plus with a lighter weight and 19 pro chip. I also get a 2x zoom which is all I need. Seems fine for the job. My 12 year old is getting my plus as he needs a phone for his new secondary school …

I am getting black, just looks cool

This was the first year that I’ve had trouble deciding on what to get.

I ended up choosing the Air because it’s something fun and new. If I don’t like it, I have two weeks to return it and try something else. Worst case, I’ll only have to wait a year for the latest and greatest. :)

I chose the sky blue. Looks really clean.

I think we are all going to be pleasantly surprised :)

This is my plan. If I dont like it, I may try an iPhone 17 possibly. Or just stick with 16plus if all else fails. I did not like the weight of the 16pro for its size, 17 pro is 7g heavier than 16 pro too! and 17PM, 6g heavier than 16PM.

--

I think I've ruled out the Pros though, I just dont want that kinda weight in my pocket for the extra features it offers. Not worth it to me on paper for what I experience in hand and the pocket.

14PM weight was a lot to deal with for the 2 years I had it. I shall not forget it so quickly.

I’m tempted to get it, but I’m worried about the titanium frame generating too much heat. If it were aluminum, the thermodynamics would be better, but it would also be less rigid.
I also considered that. The new model seems to follow the design of previous Pros: titanium frame and glass back, which isn’t ideal for heat management. But for the Air, the CPU is nestled in the ‘plateau’, so even if it gets hot, it is away from my palm contact. As long as I don’t feel the heat, I wouldn’t worry too much.

I am getting the Air in Cloud White with 512GB. I am coming from a 16 Pro Max and can't wait for a lighter and thinner phone. My plan is to keep this Air for the next years to come and stay away from buy a new phone every year. I can live without all the cameras a Pro would give as I am not really in photography, only for the occasional family shot. I can also live without a bigger battery, only for occasional travelling I also purchased the MagSafe Batterypack for the Air. I am excited to try my Air, which comes 09/19, if the battery holds indeed for 24 hours.

I expect I will probably miss the telephoto lens — not a critical factor, but perhaps the only downside I foresee from this change after years of using Pro models with three cameras. I was a red-hot early iPhone user, the device in my hand all day, batteries crying out in exhaustion and despair. But I've grown more sedate, or possibly the phones have grown a bit less exciting to me. This Air, though ...

Can't remember the last time I actually used my phone speakers for anything that mattered outside of a quick YT video. Everything I listen to is with AirPods. I suspect this is really a non-issue most real users won't care about.
I agree. The trade-off from bad audio to slightly worse audio doesn’t seem like much of a sacrifice.

Canceled hers and will be picking up in-store Sep 20. My Air is still a Sep 19 delivery. Deliveries for Pro Max are already pushing Mid-October, pretty crazy.
Mine is still stuck on 9/25 delivery.

No email from Apple.

Hoping it will get bumped up this week while it gets loaded onto pallets...

Since I'm ISPU, it just states "your order is in progress" and it'll probably stay that way until the night before IIRC

Yup, my ISPU says 9/19 pickup.

What's funny is that the ISPU is my backup order I placed 10 minutes after the pre-bagged, pre-authorized delivery that got screwed for 9/25.

I'd rather have the "fun and stress" checking on delivery progress from overseas to to the US tracking UPS flights, customs release and local delivery.

It's a nonissue for me, movies and music sound 1,000 times better with AirPods Max. Phone is muted the rest of the time, since notification pings and ring tones are annoying and disruptive.

I thought that sounded fun too, tracking the items progress from point to point. But I don't trust the local delivery living in a building with hundreds of units surrounded by other buildings with hundreds of units. And the store being 2 blocks from here makes it a no brainer.

Ah, yes I know what you mean - UPS tends to just drop it off at the door and leaves without signature.

Porch thieves are still out there.

I use the UPS app to have it held at my local UPS Access point so that when I get off work, I just drive to the UPS Store and pick it up.

They never request a signature even though the senders require it, seems to me it's a service people are overpaying for. In fact I know I am, last Christmas I spent more on shipping than the actual gifts cost. From now on, if it's not on Amazon then it's just not going to happen, can't beat free delivery with Prime.

Agree. I'm not even entertaining the idea of returning for something else, I just know this feels right. I love my 16 Pro and I'm going to miss it, but it's way more phone than I need, and the only reason really was for the refresh rate.
I'm doing the same - trading in my 16 Pro for the 17 Air.

My wife said I never use the Pro features and asked me why I have a 16 Pro when she uses it a lot. That's why it hit me that the Air is the perfect phone for my limited use.

I will definitely keep the air, but the Apple accessories (Magsafe battery + bumper case) might go back depending on my use.

Yeah I have mixed feelings on the battery case, I might use it if I'm in a part of the house where I don't like having tech cables strung all over the place. I'm not an accessory person and often don't use cases unless I'm going out of the house. Plus, I feel anything put on it is going to add weight, even just a bumper, and run counter to the idea of having a phone called "air" to begin with.

I got the Sky Blue 256 GB. I'm coming from the 16 Pro and really like the thin design, the lighter weight and slightly bigger screen. I almost didn't do it because of the single speaker and no macro but decided to go for it anyway. I'm not a heavy phone user or game player and if I listen to music it's with headphones so I'll make the compromise.

I also got the Sky Blue 256 GB (coming from 15 Pro Max) already picked the bumper case on the Apple Store. I’m going to give it a try otherwise I’ll get a Pro in Deep Blue. My only concern is feeling limited with the camera as I do like the 0.5x but I’m so ready for a thinner and lightweight phone.

I almost got the Sky Blue, that was my 2nd choice, but ended up with the Cloud White because it reminded me of the 12 Pro with the stainless steel, one of the best looking phones ever. But all the air colors are stunning. Camera I won't miss since I'm your basic point/shoot indoor user, and I rarely use the video.

I'm getting the white air. I always had black/grey iPhones except my very first one, the 3G, which was also white. So a little bit of nostalgia 🥹
What strikes me getting the air is the design and material. I'm not a photographer at all and want a stylish, casual lifestyle phone, which the white air matches best, especially in combination with my silver Apple Watch Hermès S10.

I’ve had heat issues when it comes to using Qi power banks. That’s why I’m a little apprehensive about the combination of the titanium frame and the MagSafe battery pack.

But I love the way the phone looks. Maybe I’ll wait for next year’s model.
I have no idea what the QI charging spec generally is, but the Apple MagSafe discharges at 12W. I share your experience with heat issues and will use my Anker wired banks initially.
