According to Marware's site it's a "smooth rubberized finish". So it sounds like they changed it from last year's version.
I didn't order from them, just chat. I had my doubts about what they were telling me.
Hmmmm to cancel or not to cancel... I got an email from them now saying they do not expect to receive them until April 16th which sounds like forever away.
If it's rubberized it could be similar to incipio material... hopefully the quality will be as good.

Also makes sense of the 2 rails on the back if they're used for propping it up.
But, it looks like that's an iPad 1 in the picture, so, may just be a mock up.

I contacted Marware in regards to my order status. I mentioned earlier that my "ship date" showed 3/28, but it did not ship. The rep stated they have not received the Microshell Folio yet and expect to the first week of April and will be fulfilling their orders immediately after.

ok so long story short.. just got off the phone with macmall
there seems to be 2 item #s for the same black folio microshell
original item (now discontinued and what i ordered):

the new item number has no ETA at all.
so if someone is looking for the folio, i would probably make sure there order is for the orig item #
i am going to order both and just cancel what ships first.. to be safe and make sure i am high in the queue
and adorama says April 23rd is when they expect them in.

I too was a bit concerned with Apple's "smart" cover, not protecting the back of the iPad and all.
Was happy when I found Speck's PixelSkin HD Wrap, and even happier when I found Marware's Folio, making use of the iPad's wake/sleep. That led me to this thread.
It was great learning of McMall's $29.99 price tag on the folio. But now I'm getting more and more confused.
What's all this about the "discontinued" product? What does that mean exactly? (and can we still order it?) How come the other one has a higher price tag ($36 I believe?) Oh and, how come McMall can offer it at around 60% less than the price Marware is selling at?
Btw, anybody has tried any Marware products before? It's the first I'm hearing of the company..

Ok, so I was about to order it from MacMall, but decided to chat with them first just to ask about the difference between the 2 products. 30 minutes into a chat with someone who was in no way able to understand, let alone help me, I told him I will send him the links. Guess what? They don't exist anymore! They removed the "original" one, and now only have one for $36.
He said they will ship in 3-4 weeks, but I didn't take him seriously, so I called and asked. They have no idea when they will be getting them!
I called OnSale, they too have no idea.
Moved to Adorama; they have them the cheapest (34.99) and offer free shipping. I called to ask when they will have them; April 18.
I called again (to ask if I can change delivery speed once order is placed), and decided to ask again when they expect to have them. That new agent assured me that they do not have any date! Lovely huh?
Anyways, I ended up ordering it from Adorama. I gues we'll wait and see if they get it by the 18th.

call and see if they will let you order the original one by item #, they said they should have more coming in than sold on 4/2 of the orig which at least has an eta
if you guys also look at macmall you can see they are jacking the prices around. they still have one set of colors at ~$35 and then they updated the prices of the others to $55... what is going on.

so there is the microshell and the microshell folio.
the microshell says it is compatible with the smart cover, the folio basically has it's own smart cover. Do you think the cover on the folio is going to be detachable. Lets say we don't want a cover. take it all the way off. Or if we would like to actually use it with a nice colorful smart cover, we could combine them.
i really want the microshell in white that they show, since my ipad is white, but no one but them even lists the shell in the other new colors. just silver, black, and pink.
had my ipad out of the incase book jacket tonight, love the feeling of it on it's own. probably going to go to just a cover for the front then either a shell or a skin for the back. sleeve for travel. seems like overkill, but i just want it protected for travel and also for day to day use, while not giving up the great parts of it (so thin) and not making it looks like crap. Also working on a custom portfolio case for it right now since I am a designer and this is going to be my new presentation device.

they didn't. only that it is black for now. Adorama has theirs listed as shipping April 15th. But i think that is made up since they list that for silver and pink as well which apparently don't exist yet. I just placed an adorama order for a black one. we will see when it gets here.
I ordered via Amazon at $31 with free shipping (Prime) before they changed the price on that. No ETA for date on that yet. Ordered the CEO as well which has a shipping date for 4/21. Let's see when they ship it. For this price, I am willing to wait.
