For those interested in the Marware Microshell Folio...

Very excited they gave me an updated shipping time without also changing the price to the new one.

That's not Amazon's style. You are more likely to get the lower price on a price change than you are the higher price, at least in my experience. I wish I had seen in on their site when it was at the lower price. Would have ordered from them over Adorama or Macmall.

Actually my experience with Amazon, at least with these things, is that you get the price at the time you placed the order.

According to Speck on twitter, they expect them to be shipping in about 2 weeks. Marware on twitter are still saying they expect to ship first week of April.

I thought the speck case was nice, possibly nicer looking than the marware one (maybe because we never saw good pix of the marware one), but I think I would go with marware just because it makes use of the ipad's sleep/wake function, and it closes with a magnet (verses the flap of the speck case just being there)
 
I like the look of both the Speck and Marware based on what I have seen on the mock-ups. What made me lean towards the Marware, is that I believe it will be the lightest of the two. Speck appears to be using a full TPU back where as the Marware is more of a rubberized shell. It's only a guess at this point, but I would think the Marware will be lighter and less bulky. With that said, if the Marware case is not up to par in terms of quality, then I will have no problem jumping ship for Speck or another option.

Last year with the iPad 1, we saw plenty of cases that look nice in mock-ups, but when they were actually released they fell flat (i'm looking at you Quirky Cloak and Macally BookStand). I hope that's not the case with these two.
 
Speck posted on FaceBook their PixelSkin HD will be available the week of the 17th at your local Target, black only.

Speck: ok! Looks like the Black PixelSkin HD Wrap will be in Target stores the weekend of April 16-17th. Soo... two weeks!

I'm glad it will be available at Target. Gives people a chance to see it in person and you can also try it for 90 days and return it with no hassle if you don't like it. I'll probably pick it up to do a review and if I happen to like it more it will still be within my return window for the Marware.

That is likely what I will do as well, either way i am just glad some options I'm interested are coming out soon.
 
What I like most about the marware case, in addition to it staying closed with the clasp is the strap inside the case that you can put your hand through to hold it. That's gonna come in handy on the train.
 
just saw the microshell marware case for $20 each at MacMall (when I first visited the site today)

I don't think I'll buy it since the skin and the smart cover for my iPads is sufficient, plus I have squaretrade insurance for both. should be sufficient. (not to mention, the way we handle our ipads).

Cool...I just saw the slits on the back, probably that's what they're for. Nice feature. Don't think speck case has that. The question is, though-pictures aside-the feel and quality of the actual product!

the MicroShell Folio for iPad 2 should ship end of this week to the beginning of next.
 
The sooner the better. I'll be waiting on Amazon though so I'm assuming they'll be getting it a little bit later.

Looking forward to seeing reviews for it. This case looks really thin.
 
Just received this from Marware Customer Service regarding the colored Microshells (not Folio):

"We expect to start shipping this case within the next two weeks. We will notify you with tracking information as soon as it does ship."
 
More colors available on the site.

I noticed a drop down on the folio page today and now the following colors are available in addition to the black: Silver, White, and Pink.

Hmm... I'm thinking the Silver and White might look better with a White iPad than the black. I wonder if these will be shipped at the same time.
 
Anyone have an ETA from MacMall? I got this email on 3/29

We were given an estimated delivery date to have item in stock 04/02/2011 . Unfortunately this is just an estimated delivery date and could not be a guarantee for product shipment.

I've emailed them a couple of times but no response, has anyone gotten an updated ETA on this?

I called yesterday and was told a shipment is coming in today 4/6.

Anyone know when Amazon would get their shipment? I wonder if they're getting it at the same time. I know the estimated delivery date isn't until April 18th but maybe that's why it's estimated?
 
just chatted w/ macmall. they said they canceled my order as the item was discontinued. funny thing is that they didn't issue a refund, i had to ask them to issue a refund on my paypal account.

if you're still waiting for this thing, good luck.

wow! Good thing I opted not to order from MacMall then! What case will you be getting btw? Speck's?
