For Those Of Us Who Don't Like the Rumored iPhone...

But what really do you expect any phone maker to change that would be very drastic from what we have now????? Would you like a circular phone? Something like the Sabre Pyramid? What do you think they're really going to do other than get thinner, lighter, and change the screen size (for better or worse)?
Honestly, besides naming a specific screen resolution or dimension, WHAT EXACTLY do you want them to do to the form factor? Any idea or mockup you come up with is going to be hated by someone else. It's all completely a matter of opinion, so I'd rather just leave the design choices to Jony Ive.
I don't think Apple will be making a radical design change until they start utilizing liquid metal.
I know that, but I am entitled to my opinion, and I am not alone in being disappointing in the purported design for the new iPhone. I posted the Rendering that someone created that I like...
Also, I actually really like the iPhone 4/4S design. I like that it does not feel light (weight) and cheap with plastic. I do not have a problem with them sticking with the same form factor, I don't like the idea of changing the aspect ratio and only adding height to the screen.
And, just because I like the design of the iPhone 4/4S, I still think it is lazy of Apple to use it again. They haven't done that before, which is what I do not understand. (This assuming we have seen the real phone, which I am sure we have, but I still hope it is a fake)

So many rumors about the "iPhone Mini"... maybe if we get an iPhone with a 4.3+ inch screen in the future, we will finally get the mini. It could happen.
I think there will very likely be an iPhone mini at some point. Maybe next year to replace the 3GS as an entry-level iPhone.
You chances of being right will dramatically increase if we see an iPad Mini. I think it is a cool idea. I have no use for it since I have an iPad 2, but I will still be tempted to buy one. I have an addiction to electronics.
I wonder what the price point will be for the iPad Mini if they actually decide to release one?? And the storage capacity? Will there be multiple sizes available? September needs to hurry up...

Most people know the new one is coming each year, whether there are rumors or not... It has been like clockwork, a new iPhone each year. Sales will always drop in anticipation for the new phone.
My friends Mom, who is electronics challenged, even knew about the September 12th announcement rumor... How she knew, I do not know.
Your Iphone is ALREADY a mini...
A circle would be a great idea! Super easy to hold. It could be made such that you can hold it in any orientation. Just pick it up and use it.

I'm not too worried about the Rumored two toned iPhone, (although Two Toned iPhones would be a great name for a band).
If I recall correctly that whenever a rumor or spy pics were too accurate that the video or pictures didn't last long before Apple's Lawyers moved in.
Of course Apple may just be seeding the rumor mill themselves or just baiting Samsung to see how long it will take them to come out with a Two Tone Galaxy.

Seriously? Do you have any proof of this? That single statement could be the most legitimate piece of hope that this purported iPhone could be a fake, prototype, or whatever... Not the real phone that will be revealed.
I'd seriously like a mini version. Maybe about the palm pixie size, but I would like to see Apple have 2 or 3 versions available at some point to give people a choice on size.
I actually just thought of this last night, I thought it would be really cool if something like that happened but I really don't know if I could be entirely possible. It would be amazing if it was though.

I don't see a mini version every happening. It's just to easy for them to keep the older phones around at cheaper prices. Why invest in designing another phone when you already have one that you can sell at the targeted price point? It's certainly not because of sales as they do sell and sell well.
Allow me to preface my response by saying that I too would like a "refreshed" look.
Apple doesn't revamp anything as often as they have the iPhone. Look at the iPod line (ok, the nano gets a brand new look pretty often). Everything else, from the iMac, to the iPod classic/Touch go way longer than two years before receiving a notable physical overhaul. Personally, I think people get a little addicted to having something totally brand new and different, and they want passersby to know that they have that totally new and different thing. I am guilty of this too, although I think to a lesser extent than some I have seen. I guess my point is that while I would like a different design, change for the sake of change is a waste of everybody's time. If there is a clear reason for a change, I support it. If that reason is only so that people can sport their new "jewelry", not so much.
at this point in time i can't predict anything about the iPhone since the 4S threw off the regular iPhone schedule

Amazing, people complain about wanting an iPhone with a 4" screen all over the forums, then when it's leaked they're like "it's too big..., blah blah blah"
It's not too big, it's just the proportions seem a bit odd.

Two things:
1. What the OP mentioned, didn't Apple do that last year? All these part leaks and assembly photos of the teardrop design. and all that and next thing you know......(pretty much), the same iPhone. Or the iPhone 4s.
2. Isn't it crazy how everyone is expecting the iPad mini, iPhone 5, Retina Macbook, iMac etc etc etc? When's the last time Apple lived up to all of the pre-show hype? Not saying it's a bad thing, but most all of the expectations are ridiculous. When has apple announced/launched that many products all at once? Or even more than one big launch at one time? I can't see them coming out with the iPad mini or even hinting towards. Why take the hype away from the iPhone, which pretty much carries the entire company?
I didn't care for the square/brick design of the iPhone 4 when it came out, but the iPhone has everything else going for it so I stick around. Then I see a design like the One X (below) and realize how sexy you can make a phone. The square/brick styling of the iphone hurts to look at after that.
And to know (presumably) that we're going to be stuck with that square/brick design for another 2 years hurts even more.

WHAT EXACTLY I want isn't a thinner phone. That literally does nothing for me anymore; I don't want a paper thin phone.
WHAT EXACTLY I want isn't a lighter phone. They don't weigh down your pants anymore, and I like something to have enough weight that I know it's there. Not constantly having to feel for it.
WHAT EXACTLY I want is a tougher phone. Stop with the glass. If this new metal cover scratches too easily I'll be pissed. Come up with a technology that will allow my phone to withstand dropping it from my car when it's on my lap and I get out. Happens to everyone with varying results.
WHAT EXACTLY I want is to get rid of those enormous space on the top and bottom of the screen. Just give me a screen, screw the dedicated hard home button. Put it on the screen with the new real estate. Something. Figure it out.
WHAT EXACTLY I want is for Apple to come up with something that improves upon their previous design. I know it was a great design, still is. But it isn't perfect, so make it better I feel like the glass, while aesthetically pleasing, is impractical and chips too easily without a case...speaking of which.
WHAT EXACTLY I want is a phone that doesn't require a case. What's the point of having a damn glass phone if you never see it because its in a case for fear of dropping your phone. I don't want an ugly ass Otter Box on my phone. Furthermore, I don't want to spend even more money on top of my expensive data plan and expensive phone on an expensive case. F that.
That's what I want.
Your opinion seems to be that the only way Apple will make you happy is if they make a more rugged phone. THAT'S why you don't like the new design?
