Good lord people, if you're convinced that the folks at Apple are evil money-grubbers who refuse to "innovate" to your specifications because they're simply interested in stealing your cash...DON'T buy an iPhone and move on! This same complaint has been coming up in thread after thread . . . "Apple's main concern is profit."

Well no ****. It's silly to think that a business motivated by profit (and that's every business) eschews innovation. Be outraged (if that's your thing) by whatever shortcomings you perceive in the evolution of the iPhone, but blaming "profits" is just dumb.

There is no need to come into this thread and bash on people. No need at all, anyone who is disappointed, or expected more, or just flat out doesn't like the new phone is entitled to their opinion and has the just as much right to discuss that as you have to discuss that you like it (or whatever you prefer to discuss in these forums)

Also, I started this thread over 2 weeks ago, well before we had all of the internals and new as much about the unibody design as we know now. I am sure we are getting the taller iPhone, but I still do not like the new design, that is my opinion and if I want to talk to people about it... I can if I want to.

Does this mean I want an Android? No it doesn't, I have a MBP and an iPad... all of my electronics sync so nicely together. I want to like the new phone, and hopefully, I will grow to appreciate it. Looking at the picture below of my old work phone and my new one (the 4S) makes me happy for any increase in screen size on the new iPhone.

ADDITIONAL: So I DO look forward to seeing the new iPhone in person.

Uh, did I say anyone lacked the "right" to make such arguments? And am I "entitled" to my opinion, or no?

LOL, you crack me up...

Do not act like you were bashing us for having a different opinion. There isn't a need for that. You can have your own opinion... I mentioned that didn't I? I did.

Opinions are not sacrosanct. They can be "silly," "dumb," and even factually incorrect. I didn't "bash" anyone; I offered my view as to why certain arguments that keep popping up all over this forum are a bit goofy and misplaced.

And despite your contention above, my post had nothing to do with anyone's disappointment in the alleged aspects of the new model; rather, it addressed a particular theory that has been raised repeatedly (that a business's pursuit of "profit" is keeping it from innovation).

I think a lot of the profit/innovation stuff comes from that J. Ives interview where he claimed that Apple focused on design and not profit... Yet the new iPhone seems to beg the differ on that matter. So, that could be where some of those comments come from.

Well, I think J. Ives is full of it. ;)

I will be using an S3 when the new iPhone is announced so that I can get more money out of my old iPhone 4 (giving my 4S to my GF)... So if I am truly disappointed with the new iPhone, and I am happy with the S3, I will keep it.

ADDITIONAL: I plan to use the S3 and return it before my 30 days is up. Then get the new iPhone, unless I prefer to keep the S3... Which I doubt, but stranger things have happened.

I thought about that. The only reason I went from a Nexus to a 4S is work. I don't know how optimistic I am LTE will be in the 5 given the battery didn't increase much at all. Unless apple has unlocked some proprietary batter tech, bigger screen and LTE will take those people who were seizing with the drop in battery with the 4S and put them in stroke and infarction territory. That is unless apple tells us we're using it wrong, toggle off LTE for increased battery life.

Yea, I had a GS2 for work, but I switched it to an iPhone 4S... I knew how to use it, it synced with my work computer and email better.

I am interested to see how things pan out... I still am skeptical about the battery, a lot of people on here (ones who are more knowledgeable than myself in regards to battery life vs processor) seem to think that the internal changes with the processor will help the battery life vs the 4S.

I also wonder if the leaked battery is an update for the new 4S. I would think if they drop the 4S down to an 8 GB model (like previous models) to give it a $99 price point... Maybe the will also switch it to the new smaller dock adapter and update the battery. We shall see though.

So 4.3" is a mini tablet now? You better notify Apply before they release the mini-iPad next month!

I agree that these 4.8" phones are really pushing the limits (if not breaking them), but 4.3" can hardly be considered huge.

I do think, though, that those accustomed to the square, hard-edged iPhone feel it would be terrible if expanded to 4.3" and up. And they'd be right. Every other smartphone manufacturer on the planet understands that you have to have nice rounded edges on larger phones so they are good to hold and pocket. The square edged iPhone would be terrible much larger (it's arguably terrible to hold now).

So what the size going to be? If you push the iPhone up to 4" and the iPad is 7.3 you're looking at a 5 or 6 inch device which just doesn't make sense.

I think the Galaxy Note is WAY to big for a phone. That looks like a mini tablet if any phone does. (There are some other HUGE phones as well that I have seen).

LTE will be in the new iPhone for sure considering the iPad now has it. I'm gonna bet that apple managed to squeeze 5 hours of LTE use just like when they first introduced the iPhone 3G. A stable 5 hours of LTE use would be great as apposed to all the phones with LTE now minus the MAXX
