So from what I gather, clearly not a lot of people here are as passionate about design as I am. Which is fine.
My OP was my initial reaction to iOS 7. So to any that might feel that my emotions are "overboard" it's because I truly enjoy design and looked up to Apple in that sense. I design as a hobby.
If you liked iOS 7, and thought it was fine, then you could just not reply, as I clearly stated in the title of the thread; "For those that do not like the iOS 7 UI". This thread wasn't meant for you, it was meant for the few who thought the same way as I did.
I use my iPhone a lot everyday, and I couldn't imagine seeing that homescreen every time i unlocked the device. So yes, it was a big deal to me.
Going to work today was a struggle, my life if now sad and lonely and all I kept thinking was how can Apple betray me like this, I trusted them with good design and this is how they treat me, by giving me this new UI.
At this point I don't even know if I will even want to get out of bed in the morning.
As soon as the keynote ended I took one long look at my iOS devices and shed a tear, just knowing what is coming, I can't even bare to use my devices anymore.
Why did Apple do this, I asked myself over and over. Doesn't Apple know what with 600 million iOS devices sold-to-date, my opinion matters the most.
Contemplating what to do next, should I go Android? maybe Windows Phone?
What can I do to get what I want back,
Then, a moment of clarity came over me. This is just software on a hardware device and that I need to get over myself.
Then I downloaded iOS 7 and enjoyed it immensely.
lol.
Wow. Pretty extreme reaction for an unreleased piece of phone software isn't it?
And I'm guessing you've come to this conclusion having used the beta since last night yes?
Go on then.
I'm using it, and am thoroughly impressed with the changes made. This is the biggest change to iOS for the better since the first iPhone. The slick animations, the typography, the new design for the inbuilt apps - they've listened.
The fact that this is what launched as a Beta 1, shocks me. I'm glad to hear that iOS 7 will look better by the GM.
Jesus Christ. Talk about 1st world problems and losing perspective
There are many things in life that are worth being sad, angry, and feeling helpless... being laid off, losing a loved one, encountering violence, etc... a smartphone UI isn't one of them
Hey dude, if i wanted to bitch about the world I could do that in many forums. I'm here to talk about Apple, about iOS 7. I haven't lost any perspective.
You sound like the type of people who don't allow anyone to complain because there are children in Africa who are starving and we're talking about design on an iPhone.
Well, you made me laugh a little.
I am sorry and I hope you are no more than 14 years old, and a girl of course
No, i'm a straight adult male. But very passionate about design. Thought I would talk about the problems with like-minded people. But i guess that didn't happen.
Yeah, apple would be so impressed by his design, that I can imagine tim cook firing all the dozens of UI designers and hiring him instead.
Just the amount of arrogance these people show is astonishing. We know they don't like iOS 7 and they have their own opinions, but come on. You can't just simply design a whole UI by yourself and think you'll do a better job.
----------
The fact that most of the people have distilled most of their criticisms from the system-wide designs to just the icons tell me one thing: Apple did a good job.
Arrogance? There is nothing arrogant about saying that one could design a better homescreen for iOS 7 than what Apple has done. There are a lot of people who can, who are designers as a profession.
You can take a deep breathe and go play outside in the sunshine. Our devices are lovely to use and iOS 7 doesn't change what you already know in that sense.
Disappointed is fair enough but all the other reactions are borderline absurd? Breeeeeeeathe. It's a phone.
I couldn't ever imagine using that day to day at work. I'm very passionate about design, and those were my initial reactions to it.
I'm just feeling disappointed now.
OP I dare you to make a better software in an hour
I can't do it, but that doesn't mean that I cannot complain about it.
If you can do better in an hour - well, I guess we can all come back in an hour and see what you've made.
He made a mess on the carpet.
I would when I have time. But some friends of mine who are much more talented than me already have on Dribbble, check them out.
