Waiting on new Mac Minis, if they have HDMI 2.1, I’ll buy 2.
M2 is more appropriate to be the M1 replacement. As in the lowest processor.and the new chip will be the M2 ... Apple is not going to name it M1x
This new MBP better support two monitors
Hmmh, no issues with my M1 MBA but whatever… and there will not be a M1X… and it won’t run Win11 eitherI dont trust APPLE BUILD QUALITY on Laptops anymore after the M1 Screen, SSD and Battery issues.
So I'm sticking with an M1X Mac mini
Not even close to how that works.Someday they will drop older Bluetooth versions so older iPhone devices won’t be able to connect to buds.![]()
My guess is that the next iMac will be 30”. The smaller iMac went from 21” to 24”. It will be the same story with the larger iMac, its foot print will be the same as the current 27” iMac.27" iMac with lots of ports would be nice. But since I already have a 4k monitor I'd probably get a new Mac Mini. Since Windows 11 won't run on my 4 year old box this is a good time to switch to a Mac.
Hopefully it will be more interesting, pretty sad the most interesting device at the last event was the iPad Mini
M2 is for The new, more colorful MacBook Air next year.and the new chip will be the M2 ... Apple is not going to name it M1x
and the point of this comment was....i havent been waiting for any of those
I see you’re an Apple marketing expert 😜M2 is for The new, more colorful MacBook Air next year.
M1: MacBook Air, iMac, low end Mac mini and MacBook Pro
M1X: MacBook Pro, high-end Mac mini, high end iMac
M2: MacBook Air, 24 inch iMac, low end Mac mini
M2X: High end iMac, MacBook Pro, high end Mac mini
If they put a processor named the M2 in the new MacBook pros, what would they name the next generation of a chip for the lower end computers? M3? I don’t think so. That wouldn’t make any sense.
Than the MacBook Pro and high end Mac mini and high end iMac would have the M2, but the lower end would have the M3? No.
Just like they’ve been doing on iPads since 2012, the lower end will be named M, and the higher-end will be M-X.
Wouldn’t even be surprised to see them Introduced a M1Z for the first Apple silicon powered Mac Pro
With the chip shortage, those MacBook Pro are going to be pricey and tough to get.
It would be wise of Apple to keep updating the Mac Mini. They should put an emphasis on software and getting and keeping people in the Apple ecosystem.Waiting on new Mac Minis, if they have HDMI 2.1, I’ll buy 2.
The current 13 inch M1 MBP does not support two monitors. Guessing you missed that. Why would it not? The 2019 MBP certainly did
I mean, if you can come up with a better idea I’d love to hear it.I see you’re an Apple marketing expert 😜
But whatever, you’re entitled to your opinion just as I am, Apple will not use the “x” nomenclature going forward
Apple doesn’t even publish processor speed, leave alone further specs for their SOCs… 99% of Apples customers don’t care about those specs, why would they cater to the MR techno folks in the way you and others make things up based on rumors?I mean, if you can come up with a better idea I’d love to hear it.
The MacBook Pro is rumored to use the same architecture as M1, but with eight performance cores and two efficiency cores instead of the current four performance and four efficiency, and also have the option of a 16 or 32 core GPU. In other words, not a second generation M series, just A more powerful variant of the current M1, a “M1X” if you will.
Meanwhile, the processor rumored to be used in the new MacBook Air is a direct successor to the M1, with an updated architecture that still keeps the four performance and four efficiency core design, while upgrading the GPU from eight cores to 10 cores. In other words, a direct successor to the M1, a “M2” if you will.
As I said before, they’re not gonna call the more powerful version of the exact same architecture M2, and then immediately after that call the next consumer grade chip the M3.
They’ve never done that before, and it would be a horrible marketing move.
Imagine trying to explain to someone that you can buy a MacBook Air with an M3, or a MacBook Pro with an M2. Not exactly easy to do, it’s a lot easier to say that the pro computers have the X chips symbolizing more power.
