This isn't saving for me, at least on my work PC (Edge 83.0.478.45 on Windows 7).

On my MBA | Safari 13.1 | Mojave the hide sidebar option is also not permanent. I need to hide it once or twice a day.

When I stumbled across the new format, I thought it was some idiotic blunder I had made, something I had clicked on, and wondered how this - to me, confusing, - page had appeared so unexpectedly.

I had a moment of panic as in "oh my God they collapsed everything into a single generic forum!" just to realize that they simply changed the default home.
I am not a big fan of the change, but I'll give it a chance for a few days.

Not sure if this is the right place to post this, but I'd like to see Unanswered Threads be moved to the New Posts--Forum List--Trending--New Threads-->Unanswered Threads<--Spy group instead of under Your Content (since it's other people's content).

Can you post a screenshot of where u are seeing unanswered threads? I don’t see it under your content.

It's not in the Your Content dropdown, but when I tap on Your Content, this is the navigation bar I see below it. I use it heavily.

Personally I'm always on here to visit a specific sub-section, so seeing all the new posts from every section is overwhelming and unnecessary (to me). Thank you for giving users the option to change the default!

What is this?

SPY is just a realtime view of new posts on the forums.

I’m glad I saw this. I came here to possibly ask if something was broken.
I reverted to forum list as default. I absolutely did not like the change. Lol.
Thanks for letting us know though.

I was like what? Have something gone wrong with forum?? Where normal view? Glad to know can change it back. I prefer forum list view because I know my way around website and want go certain section etc. Can’t do that new view.

The more I use it, the more I realize the New Posts view actually works pretty well with how I use the forums.

Before the change, I would go to the forum list, scroll down, and click through each of the few subforums I frequent. I started watching all of those forums with alerts turned off, so I could use Forum Jump to access those forums specifically, which made things a lot faster.

After the change, I realized you can set New Posts to only load threads from forums you watch. So it effectively combines the forums you follow into one subforum, making it really easy to see when there's a new thread without having to jump between multiple pages.

If I want to visit any other subforum specifcally, the Forum List is over to the right. It's a pretty efficient setup. :)

nice. honestly, the filters are a little confusing.

Watched content = watched threads + watched forums

I just changed it so it reads "Watched forums and threads"

I don't care for the change either. Prefer seeing a list of threads and then I can choose where I want to go. But there may be more users who want it the new way. A very small issue in the bigger scheme of things. @arn and the team keep a good site running so it is all good. 😎 👍

Have to admit that the change is beginning to grow on me after a short period of confusion prior to finding this thread. Personally I also like to find new topics by change without searching for it, so I am keeping the new default. Kudos anyway for allowing to switch back to the old behavior.

The furore is intense, even when @arn thoughtfully provided an option to change how you want to see 'your' forum and switch back to the view you're accustomed to. Imagine if there was no option.

However, considering the furore, I feel that a short message from Arn to the members notifying that this is the new change and this is how to roll back, might have tempered the mood some.

I'm really trying to get used to the new way before I flip the setting back, but I have to say, I don't think I like it.

To me, the unsorted topic fire-hose is much more overwhelming than a big list of sections. It's too broad! You have discussions about political issues lumped in with threads about new AppleTV+ shows, and web development, and everything in between!

The default view needs more prominent structure/framing.

Changes are obviously the prerogative of the site owner, but why not COMMUNICATE to the users about an upcoming change? As with many mistakes Apple and others make, they are often more accepted by users with a bit of forewarning and discussion. This has happened with this site going down with no notice for changes. You are not dealing with national security issues, be more open with the users who you need and count on.
