Changed home page to Forums List...
I used to own a very active forum and tested this out at one time, well a variation of it where I just had a single forum for everything and it did not work out well at all. Not only did the users hate it but in the end I also learned that categories (forums) are what lead people on a message board, they have areas and sections they like to frequent and other areas they stay away from. Putting everything into a single bucket, especially on a really large board like this, makes it difficult to feel like you're being active in just your particular areas of interest.

It sounds like it's here to stay, I'll just add that making people come into this forum to figure out how to put it back seems a bit unfair to them. Something should be more prominently displayed IMO.

I’m sorry it seems so disruptive to people.

I can post a sticky notice. But, we didn’t even do that for the site upgrade/redesign so it didn’t seem necessary for this either.

Nice addition to add an informational banner, arn (oops, sticky notice). I hope it eases the change for some people.

Fair enough, I haven't had any issues since following your instructions on how to change it. I would say that a restructure that gives the appearance that all forums are gone is quite a bit different from an upgrade, however. :) When I first saw it I thought something was wrong and refreshed the page several times before finally coming in here to see what was up.

It would be useful if one could select the sub forums for which the new posts are shown. We all have different interests and there are just too many new posts. Most of them are not relevant for me.

You can!

Opt In Method

"Watch" any forum you are interested by visiting them and tapping on "Watch".

Tap on Filters in New Posts view, select "Watched forums and threads" and "Save as default"

Opt Out Method

Just tap on "Ignore" in any forum you don't want showing up in the New Posts list. Then you don't have to change the filter.

I’m going to give the new system a chance, but as I just saw this post.

previously as soon as I visit the site I was just navigating back to the old view.

I don’t like the change. It’s good it can be changed from the account settings, but I guess users don’t always sign in when they just want to preview what’s on the forum.

I definitely prefer the previous forum list, just because I don't necessarily pay attention to many forums.
I am mainly a mac, photography, server/networking poster.
I don't care to jump in with the phone, ipad, watch sections unless it is a particularly slow uneventful day.

Well that's good to know. Maybe I'll look into this in the coming days and see if that suits my needs better. I'll at least commit to trying it. I was quite content with the previous method as it was working for me.

THANK YOU! I try to adapt to new changes the best I can, but when a website I visit multiple times per day and know my way around fairly well has a massive change like this, I'd rather go back to how it was.

same.. Good change, but i wondered something was different.

Dreadful change, mostly because the opt out won't stick as the forum constantly logs me out.

That may be a separate issue. My login stays pretty constant. You can try wiping all cookies from MacRumors.com and see if the cookie persists. And make sure "Stay Logged in" check box is checked when logging in.

Macrumours has never had a login persist for me more than a month in all the time I've used the site, on multiple different machines, operating systems, browsers and networks.

I have 2FA on my account and every 30 days I have to re-authenticate the 2FA

I would double check and ensure you're not in incognito (or private) mode, this same thing happened to me when I was on my iOS device and it was hard to tell.

Is my mind playing tricks on me or does the "New Posts" list now have a forum avatar on the left rather than that of the thread starter next to each thread?
