That's a surprise. Didn't someone post in a thread of his/her conversation with an Apple employee about vibration in the new iPod Touch and was told there was vibration in the iPod Touch?

Sort of--read the summary. Apple themselves mentioned it in promotional material.

The unsubsidized 32GB iPhone 4 at twice the price of the 32GB iPod touch is looking pretty hot right now.

- IPS display
- 256MB more RAM
- GPS
- a real camera
- a speaker that doesn't suck testes
- a sexier enclosure
- feedback motor

I'll gladly pay twice as much for a device that's 4x more awesome (perhaps more than 4 times...the real camera and the GPS is priceless).

I waited and waited for the iPod touch 4G because I do not need a phone...but I now realize that was a mistake. The iPhone 4 is the device I need. I know the unsubsidized/unlocked/contract free iPhone 4 isn't available in all countries but it is available in mine...so I will be buying that now that I know that the iPod touch won't see new features until September 2011.

It Does Have Vibration

Ive now talked to THREE representatives on the Apple Store Live Chat and they all said it still has vibration, and they do not know why apple took the information down.

To be frank, deaf people have been screwed for thousands of years. Not sure that the iPod Touch is responsible for a lot of that.

Well said.

At first I was naturally excited about the Touch 4 (which is a cooler name) like I am initially about all Apple's products. Then I relaxed and realized it is no where near what the iPhone 4 is.

It's not really *force* feedback, if there's no resistance -- just feedback.

If it's got a shaker motor, it's got "force". Normal feedback would be something like a sound or flashing indicator. No one ever said "force" feedback had to be resistive.

It all started with this:

I have one of those. It's hooked to the same TV that my Apple TV will.

Im sure an iPod is at the top of a deaf persons to buy list.

Please explain your logic or else we will all assume its just ignorance. The iPod is not only for music. Also, those who have trouble hearing but are not completely deaf may not want to disturb everyone around them with a blaring alarm. Vibration would be very useful for gaming, alerts and facetime calls.

I use my iPhone/iPod as a pocket computer way more often than I use it with my ears for voice calls or playing music.

Also, FaceTime seems perfect for folks who might communicate primarily via sign language/lip reading. C'mon. Pay attention. Haven't you seen the iPhone 4 ads?

i know a lot of deaf people that have an iphone/ipod touch. I myself can't talk. I find them to be BEYOND useful and helpful. Even before facetime they were useful. Watch what you type... ;)

Edit; Not you pluto198. The guy you replied to...

Miscommunication/deliberate wrong information LAWSUIT!
I call that a human error. Not a deliberate wrong doing. Fixed right after Apple was notified about it.

You never make mistakes?

Edit: iFixit.com didn't know what that little white plastic part was used for, so what about a suggestion? RFID chip?

Miscommunication/deliberate wrong information LAWSUIT!

go ahead and do it... one more useless/baseless lawsuit will not make a difference to apple... I am sure that apple has some junior lawyers that need training.

...while you are at it, make sure that you quit your job if you've got one, stop paying your rent/mortgage if you live in a house (does not apply if you live with your parents in the basement or attic), do not shave nor bathe for the next five years while the suit is on-going, and make sure to complain to ever one that you know (if any one can get close to you due to your stink) how apple did you wrong... because you know, that little vibration motor means a lot to you...

Camera, Vibrate

After disappointments that the updated iPod Touch last year did not receive a camera, this year is the vibration. So is vibration a high probability of being in the generation iPod Touch?

did you see that empty space in the break down of the ipod touch 4? That may have been the place for the motor, but apple did not include it in the release version of the ipt4. The folks responsible for the web edition did not get the news about the lack of vibration motor until just today...

How so? Non of the ipods have that. Or 512 MB ram. Or good camera's. Or any of the other things you super-geeks want. Just be a bit more appreciative of what you have.

Actually it was recently reported that it only has 256 MB of RAM :p

get a grip. lol.

Oh settle down… They'll refund your money if you bought one because you thought it would vibrate in your pants.

Get a grip people.

think thats exactly why he wanted it to vibrate :)

market research results from this group

we now know a "significant group" wnt a vibrator that plays MP3s.

someone will fill that void (pun intended!)

Hold your jets

The next one will have 3D-vibrating but for now multi-dimensional movement is an axis of hurt.
