Maybe mtr knows what's happening. You say that the debug version cannot produce a debug file.

However, you may still be able to find the console.app crash file. Post it.

Also, try redownloading the game application from the link I gave you in the first post.

Lastly, Try downloading all mv packs from the official SCP site. There is a chance that this will correct your problems... BE CAREFUL! mv_core.vp does not work well with these, so exclude it from the FS2_Open directory!

After you do that, delete all preference files FS2_Open has. This will force the application to creeate new ones. Try to run the game without any command line reference. Many functions in the command line must not be used if the corresponding media vp's are not installed. So delete the entire folder FS2_Open in ~/Library/FS2_Open and tell what happens.

Good Call

Downloaded mv packs from http://scp.indiegames.us/download.php?list.2 and transferred them to the folder that fs2_open is in, as per instructions. Also deleted fs2_open files from library. Booted up freespace and it works! I just played around with it a few minutes and then shut it off.

Thanks Soulstorm!!!

Works pretty well but it crashes occasionaly, does'nt seem do be anything in particular that causes it. The game looks great!

Awesome game! It has re-kindled my love of space simulators, someone really needs to develop a new one! There is a major gap in the market at the moment!

In anycase I downloaded the one from macologist and it works a treat.

Thanks!

Worked for me too. Really appreciate the time you put into this one Soulstorm.

FS2 here I come...

It's been crashing quite a bit, not enough to keep me from enjoying it, but enough for me to want to do something about it. It seems to crash mostly right at the end of a mission or when i get killed, but sometimes it just crashes randomly. Any suggestions?

It has never crashed for me except in multiplayer.
Maybe try using the nightly to see if there is any difference between the 3.6.7 version and that one? I don't know what other fixes are included in it.

Using the nightly build may get your game more unstable than it really is...

Does anyone know of a build that doesn't crash?

Also does anyone know if any of the mv packs cause the game to crash, and that removing will stop it?

I don't think removing the mv_packs will affect your crashing rate. To be honest, I haven't seen any game crash in my system (look at my g5, and previewsly I had a 9600XT...).

What system specs do you have?

Single 1.25Ghz Powermac G4
Radeon 9000 64MB
512 Ram

It will usually play through a level, make it through the briefing of the next level, then stutter and crash a couple minutes after starting the mission.

Perhaps my system isn't beefy enough...

Your system is just fine... Maybe it's just your OS... Maybe you should clean it!

What kind of cleaning do you recommend? I corrected permissions the other day, and I try to keep my hard drive from getting too cluttered...

No crashes for me. PB 1.67 and 1.5 GB RAM.

Gotta get a joystick, though. I don't even have a mouse––just a trackpad, and I can never scroll fast enough to get enemies in view. I've managed to get to the mission after the first tutorial, but that's about as far as I think I'll be able to get. I'm on medium settings.

Can anyone recommend a cheap, sub-$20 joystick? Can't justify getting an expensive one, since I'd pretty much just be using it for this game.

I spent $29.99 for the Logitech 3D Extreme Pro.

It was worth it for the twist. :D

Note that different ships have different handling. I think you can set mouse sensitivity in the game, although I play with the keyboard, and I can't tell you how effective that would be...

Hey, are there any news as to when a multiplayer patch will be available to fix the missiles from the clients?

Is the cvs server up or is it still messed up?

I've got mouse sensitivity all the way up, and it's a crawl compared to using the movement keys.

Freespace 2 was just updated today. You can dl the latest version (1.4GB) from either versiontracker or Macupdate.com.

Does anyone know if the multiplayer issues are fixed in this version? The 'what's new' isn't exactly helpful as it lists all the features that were already there in the last version.
