i see the small sim and it's something that tmobile doesn't offer (i just called to make sure) will this new iphone only take a mini sim? if so that leaves a lot of us SOL!
If you're talking about the newest SIM form factor, it's called Micro-SIM. The one you're familiar with is the Mini-SIM.

Official carriers for the next-generation iPhone would offer the new Micro-SIM, just as they will for the iPad. Or you could use a pair of scissors or utility knife and hack away at the plastic (watch those fingers).

How much better does the iPhone 4G look without seams?

Actually looks complete (and amazing), right?

that micro sim may make people hesitant to upgrade. although i guess if you ruin it (your original), you can always get a replacement sim but what a drag....

"Well all very well placed apple leaks

no way the phone will look like this "

lol where are those apple fanboy trolls to hate on this now?

"I hope apple punishes everyone because the surprise is ruined!"

^^^ seriously u guys are way to serious

It's a phone. The end.

well i'm talking about all the unlocked iphone owners that would have to try cutting up their sims.

Their respective carriers might be able to swap the Mini-SIM for a Micro-SIM.

I doubt it would really be a big deal. It's just plastic. Scissors, utility knife, even just filing away the plastic should work. The contact size is identical, you don't need to be accurate to the last micron.

This Is An Inside Job!

The government planted these phones so as to once again have a valid reason to attack Vietnam! Don't let the media pull the wool over your eyes. I must move on now, for I am being followed...to a different coffee shop...

The Gizmodo phone has 2 screws on the bottom, but this latest one doesn't.
Well, it's possible that the Gizmodo prototype was an earlier unit; the screws might have facilitated disassembly for engineers to rework the internals.

Perhaps this unit is a later case design, closer to the actual production model.

Some may think it's fun to speculate, but we won't get any hard answers until the real iPhone ships.

If you're looking for real answers, we have none to give at this time. Come back in a month or two.

I wonder why the new iPad has a curved back, like the current iPhone, but the new iPhone has a sharped edge backing? Personally, I wish my iPad had a more square back. It would make it easier to hold.

All these leaks make the new phone less exciting for me. I'm a bit of a compulsive shopper, so this month of prior knowledge is letting my buying itch cool down a bit.

Absurd?

This was about to get absurd??? This whole mess is TOTALLY ABSURD!!! The is NO way Apple has allowed THREE "prototyps" into the "wild!!!"

EVT = Engineering Validation Test
DVT = Design Validation Test
PRO = something related to production, I assume

These prototypes have popped up in what seems to be an appropriate order. It's my understanding that EVT comes after DVT, but it's possible they are tested simultaneously. PRO is something I haven't run across before, but I would assume it's a pre-production version as opposed to a full-on prototype. They're probably ramping up production now to meet demand and one of these slipped out.

Or perhaps it's for iPhone "PRO"???

chill

i understand the high instances of leaks with this phone are unusual for apple, but i don't understand why so many are convinced apple is staging this. if they knowingly leaked the gizmodo phone, aren't they opening themselves to some legal liability by initiating police action (or keeping their silence if they didn't initiate it, knowing full well that the leak was intentional). i just don't buy the case that it's intentional. these things are developed in secrecy but at some point they have to come out into the wild for testing and to be mass-produced overseas. as you get closer to the release date, the probability of one falling out of apple's control channels approaches 1.

all that aside, i'm stoked to get my hands on one.

Apple PR Bill Evans: There is another matter... one I'm reluctant to...
Steve Jobs: Please.
Bill Evans: One of our iPhones, a Taoviet PRO2, was last reported in the area of Viet Nam. We have not heard from her for some time.
Steve Jobs: Bill, you've lost another iPhone?

With apologies to The Hunt for Red October. :D

I'm rather thrilled by all these leaked photos. I like the look of the new phone and I hope we get to see some more pictures with the new OS in action. I have to go with the notion that the gizmodo leak was accidental, but the others are Apple's way of controlling the message. Also, someone pointed out that plenty of people are talking about the iPhone. It's a great way to get people to stop talking about the fight with Adobe.
So keep the leaks coming. :)
