I have an android phone and hate it. It's a POS. I wish I could afford an iPhone so badly. Look at mysig, I don't even own a Mac. Just an iPad and iPod. I sold my MacBooks overthe last couple years. And I miss them, apple products are good. Really good. But as a networking major owning a Mac is sadly impractical.

You should give Windows Phone 7 a try if an iPhone is out of your budget as some of the first Gen handsets can be had for cheap now and WP7 in itself s a great little OS.

Which Android handset are you using currently?

Lg Optimus running android 2.3.

Yap, great arguments to the claim that iOS will destroy Android.

Ok, not the best argument. Lol I can afford a $100 a month phone bill but my weapon obsession takes that money right of my pocket. (former military what do you suspect. ) ;)

Give the HTC Titan a whirl - the only downside with Windows Phone 7.5 is that they're optimised first and foremost to be used with 'Windows Live Services' such as hotmail and so forth. Yes, you can use it with other services but the integration isn't as good but that is pretty much the same with Android and iOS as well - iOS in my experience doing a better job at integrating into competitors online services than the two former.

You probably only tried one Android phone out of thousands.

Why did you drag an old thread up? Do you like making yourself look silly?

1. Apples 'improved' notifications were clearly inspired from Android's notification system.

2. You could sync a Windows CE PDA 10 years ago...You could sync a Psion PDA which are even older. Nothing new there. MobileMe was certainly not a syncing service for the iPhone. Even now, iCloud is pretty crap. Can you sync specific files and open them on your iOS device? No. Can you specify what syncs to which devices? No. Its essentially a non-optional sync and you've got no idea what will be in Sync or when. Android handles this MUCH better, without a doubt. In addition Apple dont have a Cloud, they have 1 maybe 2 datacenters in the US. That is pointless. Google use 10+ datacenters all over the world. The difference here is that with Apple, syncing is slow as hell outside the states. With Google, its still fast as you sync to your local datacenter. Google has a true cloud, Apple have an unreliable datacenter - huge difference.

3. Palm had an app store years ago. Linux has used the same 'repo' style system for YEARS, well before iOS was even a thought in someones head.

4. You need to check thread dates before posting, and when posting against someones post, provide factual evidence to avoid making yourself look like a troll.

1: Inspired != stolen

2: iCloud mainly syncs standardised information like text/photos/downloaded apps, and apps that have their file systems (like good reader) have integrated iCloud support to have these file system apps sync/add files between devices. Android handles it better? Not in my experience, and I'm using 4.0 dev tools. btw, I live outside the US and it's as fluid and fast as promised. When you try to lie/spread BS, do your research first.

3: Palm had an app store years ago? Sure. I owned a Palm TX and others before that, and it was god-awful. You cannot even relate the Apple Appstore to the hotchpotch that was Palm's implementation. It's like saying 'hurrr, we had the wheel in the stone age, so why do we need these modern tires?'. So, how'd their app store work for them?

The fact of the matter is, Apple is the Stephen Hawking of the tech world atm. Sure, they stand on the shoulders of giants (like Hewlett and Packard), but they not only think of truly original ideas (I've really noticed the derps on this forum focussing on aspects of iOS that make up probably 1-5% of the experience on any given device, that may have been inspired by another innovation in the past), but they think of new ways to implement age old ideas (like the PADD) and make something of them, which is something, whether you like it or not, no other company has really been able to accomplish in such a profound and widespread manner. Name one product that took the world by storm like the iPod, iPhone, iPad or Mac that sticks in the mind. The Zune's one, but only because it became a laughing stock in the competitive scene.

Side note: I just checked Oletros' other posts, and the funny thing was it's actually worse than expected. It's a combination of 'no u' comments and 'this has been proven a thousand times', never actually substantiating any of his comments. Seriously, check his previous posts. It's a plethora of statements giving birth to the ultra-fandroid from hell. Quite funny.

I'm not going to bother trying to argue either way with you, but I do have a question for you.

Do you think that Android was stolen from iOS or inspired by it in any way? I ask this because we've had a number of apple trolls (i.e people who believe Apple is the Messiah and can do no wrong) stating that 'Android is crap' and 'Android is stollen from iOS' and other nonsense. Just want to know if I can take you seriously as a level headed individual ;)

I'm fully aware that we have a select group of members who are either blind/diehard Apple fans, and blind/diehard Android fans. I put myself as a neutral person simply because I use and have used both since the day they first came out. I love and hate both in different ways, but in no way do I feel one is superior to the other as they are very, very different...almost non-comparable.

Android disgusts me. If/when people around me switch to Android because of its "cool features", which turn out to be laggy and crappy anyways, I will be the one with the Apple product in my hand for Steve helped create the most revolutionary product on the market today. I will help carry on Steve's goal to destroy Android.

OMG, he's using a competing OS so let's hate him!

About lagginess, my Galaxy S II says "Hi."

I don't care much about Steve Job's hopes or Android failing, but I know Android sucks. Just pull out your iPhone in front of an Android user and watch them come with the excuses (usually carrier related) as to why they don't have an iPhone but wish they did.

I have no idea why Apple users have the reputation that they do. Any ideas?

Users? Reputation? I know plenty of cool Apple users. And Android users. And users of rotary phones attached to the wall. And I know a- holes that use them all too.

I don't get what you're saying.

I don't get what you're saying.

Perhaps your claim that EVERY Android user (or every other phone for that case) doesn't have an iPhone because they can't but they want to have one?

A little secret that is not true, people like their iPhone, people like their Android phones, people like their WP7 phones

1: Inspired != stolen

So if you take a UI concept from iOS and implement it in Android, it's stealing. Do the same from Android to iOS, and it's inspiration?

What if Google patented the notification system? Are they allowed to vigorously defend their IP in much the same way Apple does? Are they allowed to block sales of iOS over something as innocuous as a notification system? Judging from your previous posts, you'd say no, claiming Apple was simply inspired by Android. Inspired to the point where they look and perform almost identically.

Let me tell you, that's some pretty damn heavy inspiration right there.

But HTC offering a setup that allows the OS to identify phone numbers, and dials them via a single press of the finger? Well that's just blatant theft, right? After all, Apple did it first. They need to defend their IP from all these crappy, third rate patent poacher types.

We've got some heavy double standards and cognitive dissonance all up ins here, folks.

I have no idea why Apple users have the reputation that they do. Any ideas?

Do you think we care? Especially when it's becoming an increasingly Apple-oriented industry. We were right all along. Steve Jobs was right all along.

In fact, being overtly anti-Apple these days puts one in a fairly awkward and out-of-touch position.

I truly enjoy most Apple products, especially their computers.

However I'm put off by their insipid culture, as born largely during the rise of iOS.

Did I say "every"? Well, I'm sorry, I meant...wait, I didn't say "every" anyways.

Ah, when you said "put your iphone in front of one Android user" you were talking about just ONE particular user. Who is he or she?

Choose one. Most likely they want your iPhone. And I'm definitely not talking Windows. I might actually switch to a windows phone, but Android is a piece of crap.

Choose one. Most likely they want your iPhone

So yes, you're saying that every Android user is jealous and want iPhones and the only reason that they have Androids is because they can't have one iPhone.

And can you repeat that with a straight face? Don't you see that is a totally false claim? That the world is not only USA and outside there there IS a lot of choice and not everybody buys iPhones because they prefer other options?
