I think the reason OP is wary about a replacement is the quality control when it comes to iPhones. They don't want to give away their *nearly* perfect iPhone and get one that is new, but has faults like loose buttons, yellow screen, dead pixels, etc.

I get that, I'd feel the same.

This is exactly my thoughts. Thanks for all the feedback on this! It has given me more to think about. I guess I will give it a week and see if it keeps bothering me.

I expect a large chunk of the Space Grey must be this way, perhaps the great majority? I think it's small enough many simply don't notice?

I haven't gotten a chance to look at more Space Gray phones (because I'm the only person I know who has one in my area) but I have seen pictures and have heard a lot about this issue. My FaceTime camera has a "crescent" shape along the right side, indicating it is slightly off center to the left, but it literally is just a hairline thick, and I can only see it under really bright sunlight. It doesn't bother me really at all though, and if it did, I would have a TWO hour drive to the Apple Store. Not fun.

more than half of the display space gray phones at my apple store exhibited the issue (but only one of the other color models did).

just had mine replaced, although it was mainly for a touch id issue. replacement is fine so far. but i've heard the problem develops over time so i won't know if i'm in the clear for a while.

i probably won't try and get a replacement if it happens to this one. i think it's just how they built them unfortunately. they may fix the issue in future hardware versions though. but their first solution is usually to replace the screen and not the whole device, and while i'm sure they do a great job, i don't like the idea of someone opening up my phone.

Thanks for the report on yours. Mine is close to 1/3 of the camera opening.

I can see that happening, over time it developing because I am pretty certain I remember looking at the FaceTime camera when the phone arrived and thought, oh look at the cool camera there, now this 1/3 of the hole crescent looks like some kind of sensor or something if you didn't know better. I feel mine has gotten dramatically worse in the past month too.

I'm glad you got a perfect one for the time being!! Hopefully it stays that way! No reason not to be optimistic.

Thanks, we'll see! Sounds like yours is worse than my old one was. I had a crescent but it wasn't nearly 1/3 of the way across, though I wonder if it would have eventually gone that far. Will keep an eye on this one and keep you posted. It was manufactured in November apparently.

I'm taking mine in today to get looked at, it's only a hairline cresent and not that bad but my concern is it will get worse. Hopefully I don't get laughed out of the store. :D

The genius in Belfast said he'd never seen this issue before and replaced the front glass on my phone. Didn't offer a replacement. Seems fine now.

Glad I found this thread- thought I was going crazy! My iPhone 6 has this issue and it has gotten steadily worse over time. The foam now sits almost directly over the lens (zoom in on the pic below- it's way worse than any of the others I've seen in this thread). Here's the crazy thing though, it doesn't seem to affect the performance of the front camera at all. I'm not sure how that is possible since the foam ring appears to be cutting right down the middle of the camera aperture. I got this phone as a replacement for my launch day unit that had screen issues. Since it's not causing a problem, I don't really want to play the exchange game over a tiny bit of foam. But I'll probably get it replaced before the warranty runs out so as to not affect resale value.

iPhone 6 Front Camera abnormalty?

I just noticed while looking at my iPhone 6 front camera where it looks like a cresent moon shape is covering half of the circle. (See attached picture). The camera is still working fine. Is that normal or did something move out of place?
Thanks

Not normal. If it isn't bothering you keep it till your warranty is about to run out and swap it out. I've had 2 out of my 4 6's with this issue. They will repair/replace no problem!

My phone is the same way. Not sure if it moved or if it's always been like that. Not worth my time to get a replacement as it doesn't seem to impact the phone.

More than likely they'll just replace the screen which is what they did to my phone. I'm actually glad they just replaced just the screen cause I didn't have to reinstall any apps, pictures and what not.

Front camera on iPhone 6 has MOVED!!!

My Space Gray 6 Plus has the same problem but it's only off by a hair near the top right.

Anybody ever think that maybe its from the vibrate mechanism in the phone?

I rarely use the silent/vibrate mode but have flipped the switch a few times in the 10 days that I've had the SIM-free version. I never noticed (or knew about) the camera shift on the previous iPhone 6 Plus I had since launch day.

Had I never looked at this thread I wouldn't have noticed at all.

Funny you say that, mine is always on silent with no vibrate and my camera hasn't shifted a bit. Perhaps the internal vibrating has a big impact on the camera shift?
