I'm really kind of baffled at the upcoming lineup.

I think there will still be a budget, TouchID phone... or maybe the iPhone 8 will just stick around. But they can't force entry level customers into that weird middle 6.1" phone. People like smaller phones.

I think we'll see an iPhone 9 along with this line of iPhone X-S phones or whatever they'll be called. Then next year, when 9 finally does become 10, TouchID will be gone for good and everyone will have a notch.

The bezels on the LCD really don't look too bad. Apple really should be commended on the screen tech implemented to avoid sporting a chin. That said I'll be holding onto my X until 2019

I concur, the thicker bezels on the 6.1” LCD model tones down the notch quite a bit, a decent compromise. I am curious to know if the AMOLED models will experience temporary unresponsiveness in cold climates, as the 2017 iPhone X model did.

Surprisingly Apple can find a solution to the chin in the LCD iPhone model, however still has it on the iMac. Does anyone else find this strange that we have had the chin iMac for how long now? When is a true redesign going to happen for the iMac as it has for the iPhone line.

Supposedly the 4GB of RAM in the iPhone 5.8” and 6.5” models will speed up FaceID response rate (I hope). The 6.1” model will have 3GB of RAM so I presume the experience to be similar to the 2017 iPhone X sans 3D Touch and dual rear cameras.

Can someone mock up an image of these next to a scale current iPhone X & 8 Plus?

The budget Touch ID phone already exists: iPhone SE.

I'm starting to wonder if the SE is going to be my last iPhone ever.

Nothing they can ever do on features will ever make me want a phone that's physically much larger than the 5s/SE size.

It's intensely frustrating that they won't update that package or make something newer between the 4.7" and 4" current phone physical sizes.

I'm still holding out hope that they might and it's just sort of a slip in they'll add since it's not a headline thing for them.

Front Glass Panels for 2018 iPhones Appear to Leak, Show Thicker Bezels on 6.1-Inch LCD Model

English is not my native language, so I could be wrong on this....However, I assume that you don't mean to say that the glass panels leak, right? You probably mean that someone leaked information about glass panels.

I would suggest correcting the heading.

It should read something along the lines of, “Leaked Images of Front Glass Panels for 2018 iPhone Models, 6.1 inch LCD Model shows Thicker Bezels”.

*I could use better wording, however I stuck with the original set of words more or less.

Most likely. The SE is such a small amount of sales, it doesn't make sense to keep it around. The iPhone 8 isn't all that much bigger though and that should stick around for another year on the cheap.

Geskin is not a "leaker." The people who give him the information he reports are the leakers.

The difference between a reporter and a source, this is JORNO 101 stuff.

Why? same way you can have a big budget car and small premium car? you can have big budget TV and smaller size premium TV. This goes for pretty much any item you can buy, so why is this strange for a cellphone?

It's not strange on cellphones, definitely. an iPhone SE is better than a 6" 150$ huawei. But i meant the iPhone lineup will be weird. People who aren't very into technology will just assumed that the larger model is better than the smaller model.

One word: China.
I wouldn't be surprised if it were China-only, honestly...

Lower quality display.

The current iPhone 8 Plus has 400ppi, iPhone X has 45xppi, the iPhone 8 has 326 ppi.

My guess is that the iPhone "9" will continue to have 326 ppi, i.e the Original Retina display. But I don't see how the resolution would fit it. Nothing seems to fit the 19.5: 9 ratio Display with 3xx ppi.

Or Apple is just going to use 400ppi LCD.

I'm definitely getting the 6.1, my big 'ol chunky fingers need a big screen. I'm sick of making so many typo's and I disable auto-correct because its so darn annoying.

One of these phones needs to either bring back the headphone jack OR replace Lightning with USB-C. If Apple does at least one of those things, I will be the first one to purchase! If not, there's no way Apple's getting a dime from me.

From GizmoChina.

If that is the iPhone 9, I rather like it.

One theory could be Apple Discontinue iPhone 8 / 8 Plus this year. Then we have

iPhone X Plus
iPhone X

iPhone 6.1"

iPhone 7 Plus
iPhone 7

iPhone SE

Then next year they discontinue SE, add an iPhone SE edge to Edge model below iPhone 6.1 price bracket, and iPhone 7 becomes the lowest entry model.
