that's just what you hope/speculate. I wouldn't get my hopes up at all. I think we might be waiting for a while longer, hopefully not longer than mwsf.timmillwood said:C2D MBPs could be built week 41, then go on sale on 24th October

maverick808 said:I'm certain week 1 is the first week of the calendar year. When the MBP was released on the 11th January, and shipped in February, the people who got them first (me included) had week 8 builds. If week 1 had been in October the very first MBPs would have been week 20-something. So we can be positive week 1 machines are built in the first week in January, and that week 41 was indeed last week.

preludemd said:Yes, but you missed what I said about the desktop systems. It is possible to select "in store pickup" on desktop systems. Doesn't mean that YOUR local stores have them. And just because they aren't physically in the store doesn't mean that they can't order them. We have been able to order them for customers in the past. When the Mini first came out we did carry it in the store. And BBY DOES sell apple systems in their stores, just maybe not your store. It really depends on the local market if your local store will actually carry them. I just found 17" and 20" iMacs in a store close to the 90001 Area code. Figured the stores in or near LA, CA would carry them.

"Still, we were alternately intrigued and dismayed by the issues we found with heat and battery life in some of the c2d laptops. In one of the high-end gaming laptops, the temperature in the system's base hit 114-degrees (45.5 Celsius). The highest temperature we encountered was a whopping 120 degrees. (48.9 Celsius).
Battery Life in the high-end laptops averaged a dissapointing 2.5 hours. The most meager battery score we saw among all six was 1 hour 52 minutes, while the best was 8 hours 9 minutes - the most impressive we've seen on any laptop (Dell Inspiron E1405)."
I still think MBPs will be released next week (Oct 24), redesigned. (keeping my fingers crossed)
Edits:
the dell E1405 - had a 14" display and 1.6 C2D. thats why it had a really long battery life.

AppliedVisual said:Weird... I realize they had online order for the systems, didn't have any idea that any BB stores anywhere actually carried them in stock for in-store sales. And if what your'e saying is true, then that contradicts several what several people on these forums have been saying. BB store locations are also not officially listed as locations to buy Apple systems. Could it be that your local store (and quite possibly a few others) have a lot of people ordering Mac systems, so they're ordering common configurations to keep on-hand, even though BB doesn't officially stock them?
Butthead said:Alright doubting Tom, I'll try to avoid being harassed by BB store employee's and security camera personel, and get you a picture of all 3 iMac's in stock on the shelves at BB...sheeeesh! I'll also check for any Apple laptops.
I'm too lazy to do a search, but IIRC, BB brought Apple products back into the stores on a test basis in a few select cities, same thing might have been a happening in a few select CC stores more recently.
Nevermind, I did the search for you:

But to think that they are continuing to produce the CD MBP seems an incredibly ludicrous leap to me (even for Apple)...
flalaw said:so apple is definitely still producing the CD MBPs, not just selling of existing stock?
if this is true i believe we won't see a merom macbook pro before the holidays.maverick808 said:Well it looks that way. But I've only seen one person claim they had a week 41 MBP, they could have been lying, although I doubt it. If we could get more people who just bought a MBP to tell us what week they are we could get a better idea.

is a nano second. Don't expect anything until MWSF. It is perfect timing.
mautal said:i tried to listen to the conference they had but fell asleep a minute into it... while its great to hear apple is doing so well and is looking to do better.. im guessing nothing important was discussed ( at least important to us in this thread)... but i was thinking how great would it have been if they sly'ly slipped it in there... "we made $546 million in profit with revenue of 'we are releasing the new macbooks next week' $4.8 billion"
next tuesday come sooner....
