I think Mini will go C2D before Thanksgiving. I think MB will keep the 1.83GHz low end as well as the 2GHz regular with a 160GB HD Option. No 2.16GHz option on the MB.

to the people out there who have a better apple track record than i... historically has apple ever released a new product (take for example the MMBP) and then release another new product a week later (hopefully the MMB)?? Considering that this year has alot of "first times" for apple (going intel, releasing a red nano in the middle of the week, etc) will they release products back to back in such a manner?

I'm 99% sure there's been no changes to the case design other than to add the FW800 port to the 15". But I'll know in a few days when I get mine. Still waiting for it to ship though... Says ship by Oct 30, Delivery by Nov 1.

I discovered this forum 10 minutes ago but I ordered (and paid) my new MacBook (13"" white 2.0) 20 minutes ago so I didn't know anything 'bout the upcomming upgrades (it's my first mac!). Do you guys think it's wise to cancel my order (if possible) and wait for the new and improved mac and if so, do you have a clue when it will be released? What will be the difference between the current macbook and the new (i'm sorry but i didn't read all posts...)

No, don't cancel. New MacBooks might not be released until 2007. Furthermore, it's nice that C2D is out but it isn't THAT much faster than the CD that is in the MacBook. The MacBook you have is a fantastic consumer laptop, so I'd advise you keep it.
 
Yeah i am waiting as well for an updated Macbook, since the MBP have been updated with c2d i am sure it should be too much longer before the Macbooks are upgraded.

This is exactly my plan also. However, the 14 day return period is passing by and no signs of a near release. :(

Any news/rumors on the MacBook anybody?
 
the Macbooks have to be updated - the current lineup isn't good value (in comparison to the low-end MBP standard).

I'd say sales of the MB will really slow if they don't update like ASAP.

Edit: I think Apple will miss out on Christmas buying if they don't - to have all lines ready with C2D before Leopard makes sense (to me). Also why wait until sales drop off the MB - better to keep ahead of it. If they hadn't upgraded the MBP - I don't think this will be an issue - but they did - so they have to (IMHO)

I'm thinking mid november as in the 14th of november... the same things are happening to the macbook as it did to macbook pro's... ship dates for institutional purchase jumped 1- 3 days to 3 - 5 days (blackbook estimates 5 - 7 days)... some one had posted that the french and german apple stores have had an increase from 24 hours -> 3 day estimated shipping... im not 100% but i do recall someone saying some resellers are running low in stock... now if someone can verify this for me, we're in business for an upgrade hopefully sooner than later....

This Tuesday perhaps??:confused:
 
I want a MB as soon as possible but with C2D and more ram !!!

I guess this is it ..... waiting again for computers to come out ......

I'll take a wild guess and bet on the 31st of oct ... for the new release hoping that I'm right ............!!!!!:D :D :D

Ohh am i ever waiting for a C2D macbook! :)
I just finished saving the money for it and i was about to buy it when i saw that the C2D Macbook Pros came out...i figure the Macbook might not be too far away!
I certainly hope they come out Oct 31st :p

I am also really hoping for this Tuesday. I have already ordered mine (3. Oct) and it has been repeatedly delayed until it got a final shipping date of 31.Oct. Just got a mail today that it had shipped! Yay! Will be really happy if all the waiting resulted in me ending up with an upgraded version:)
 
Hmm, but i think they would have emailed you to tell you it has been upgraded before it shipped.

I am not risking putting my order through until its officially released.

Hate to rain on your parade, but there is virtually no chance at all that they shipped you an upgraded unit before an official announcement or press release and without telling you.

Sorry, but it's almost certain that you're getting the current CD model.

I feel for ya. I'm so glad my wait for the C2D MBP is over. It's on its way here!!! :D So, I've officially committed to switching to Mac and I couldn't be happier.

So, for all you MacBook people, I hope you get your upgrade soon. I'm still envious of your magnetic latch... thought about just taping some magnets to my MBP so my 'pro' model has the cool features of the consumer model. :p
