I realize it is a longshot... However, the delivery date is nov 9. so I were thinking that I wouldn't be getting it before it was officially released anyway and that such a thing was certainly doable per se. But of course, as I said, I am not in any way getting my hopes up. I will be perfectly happy with my CD Macbook.

Furthermore, if the upgrade comes within 14 days of me receiving it and I find it worthwhile to go thruogh all the hassle of it, I'll just return it and get the new one. If it is released :) any later than two weeks, I'll consider it better to have had the Macbook for two weeks as I am currently degraded to a PC user since my wife already claimed the long promised inheritance of my ibook

wait til forever

told myself back in june to wait til september because there is sure to be an update... while the ipods and imacs got upgraded... macbooks did not...
come september i said i would wait til october 31 latest... but with the mbp going c2d, mb are sure to follow... now im telling myself to wait til mid novemeber.. 11/14 was the deadline i set for myself before i go out and get a refurbed mb... but now that i think about it... say it comes out this tuesday, or the next... would it be worth it to wait til 2007 to get leopard and ilife '07??
how many people are going to wait for leopard & ilife 07?

PS this thread should not die til it reaches 5000 or the c2d macbooks are released... whichever comes fist

i'm in the same situation as you, but i think i will get the macbook as soon as its released. i mean, with the way apple operates, you never really know when things come out, so expectations of leopard and iLife07 in january, are merely expectations. just get the macbook first.

EDIT: well get the macbook first if you need to do something with it for the next two months. in my case i want to make use of the holidays to learn cocoa so definitely not waiting for leopard.

I am also waiting for the macbooks to be updated. I plan on buying one as soon as they're updated. I don't mind waiting til January (it will be my birthday present to myself!) but the sooner the better! ;)

I think they will be updated before Thanksgiving, because it would be right in time for the holiday shopping season.
(...but then again, like the rest of us I feel...I am but a wishful thinker.)

Also, Apple plans to sell 1 million laptops by the end of the year, right? (I pretty sure I read that somewhere.) How do they expect to do that if they don't update the "consumer" model? Or maybe they are close to doing so already, I am not sure.

I also noticed that Amazon has a $100 rebate on Macbooks. Maybe they are anticipating an update?

That's what I rationalize.

either way
*Fingers crossed for Tuesday* :)

although i am hopeful of an update, i don't think it will be as soon as this tuesday. i'm sure apple will want ppl to fall for the MBP first. i think it's more likely that the MB is released in a couple of weeks, but then again, my guess is as good as yours.

lots of mbp buyers out there

i would agree with u that they def. need to make the comsumer line mb a c2d in order to hit that 1 million macbook mark. but have u seen the "apple releases c2d mbp" thread... it grew from 0 to about 1600 on the FIRST DAY (from 0 - 500 before noon).. i would say there is alot alot alot of people getting the mbp now, but not a million people... it will be if you combined the mb & mbp for sure!!
im hoping for this tues... but like its been said before, realistically it will be another 2 or 3 weeks:(

I strongly hope that they do anything soon.

First of all, they need to introduce it now since it takes a few weeks to get these beauties to the stores (and there they are needed most, in order to catch the still undecided holiday shoppers).

Second, Apple has released very few products in the past in the time between November and December (none in December at all). Possibly for the very same reason, that it takes time to push inventory into the market.

So I think either they come out soon, or not at all in 2006 (...and this would put a big dent in their forecast - that's for sure!)

Hey, first post :)

I am committed to switching over from my crappy Windows PC and am also waiting for the C2D Macbook. I'm currently studying and this computer will have to last me at least 3 years, hence I can't justify buying one just before an update, anything that might prolong it's life circle is important to me. Just took a look at the Danish online Apple store, both white macbooks are up to a delivery time of 3 days, two days ago they were both at 24 hours
Should we make anything of this? I will of course take it as a clear cut sign that my dreams will come through tomorrow, although I'm sure Apple will have something up their sleeve to make me look stupid

lol we all seem to be overanalysing shipping times. i dunno, i just feel that by releasing the MB one wk after the MBP, apple is cannibalising its MBP. more likely next wk methinks, but i hope u're right tho.

C2D Macbook or CD Macbook PRO

If you had the choice to get a NEW C2D Macbook ro the older CD Macbook Pro, which would you get.

I'll tell you what I think, for $1450 (a refurbished, base model, CD Macbook Pro) I would receive a bigger hard drive, better processor, better video card, and an "expansion slot" (this is good if you plan to take advantage of the wireless cards from sprint or cingular)(fyi - no macbook model has ever had this).

In comparison, I can get a C2D Macbook with comparitively the same specs, minus the expansion slot and better video card.

I think... well I don't know what I think. Which one would you get and why?

Difficult to decide.

For me it is portability that counts. I need the smaller form-factor of the Macbook and the longer battery life (I would love to see the ULV-processors in the modell as an option).

If you are shopping for a more desktop-bound machine I would definitely go with the Macbook Pro.

anyone has more rumors on MB update ???? i have been waiting for a month already. i have one question on c2d mb. doesn't the leopard work with c2d mb??

leopard will work on both c2d and cd. There is no reason it should only work with one.

Lol, here comes another "Tuesday" update hopes. Good luck guys, keep hoping, I'm sure it will pay off. That's what I kept doing for the past 10-15 weeks until last week when mbp was officially updated. Has the Apple Store died yet?

Portability was a big issue for me also, so I was going to get a MacBook. But then I spent some time actually playing with them and realized that even thought the MBP looks much bigger than the MB, it really isn't. I took a MB and set it on top of the MBP and was very surprised. The MBP is only about 1.5 inches wider and about .75 inches deeper. Really, they are much closer to the same size than it looks. If you are looking for a dedicated graphics card and a few more standard features, don't let the size turn you away from it. By the way, my C2D MBP 2.33ghz/160 drive/2gb ram will be delivered by wed.

I ordered the exact same thing. From what I have heard, it was the right decision. (no whine/moo, better ventilation etc.)

So excited!

Anybody vouching for new MacBooks tomorrow? :D

Possibly, but I'd guess not. How about next wednesday 11/8? Tuesday the 7th is essentially a holiday as it's election day. But I would figure any Tues/Wed. is fair game between now and Wed. 11/22. :D If they don't announce by then, you won't see updated Macbooks until MWSF. ...Wow, all the same stuff we were saying a week ago about the MBP.

I'm guessing that tomorrow.....

I'll hope ... and I think that tomorrow the MB is coming out, comon !!! why would apple wait longer to come up with it, if they want to sell a bunch of notebooks for the holidays they can't afford to wait !!!!!

I want one, and I think the overall MBP lovers and needers want out and order one for pretty soon so I don't see why MB would slow down MBP sales ?????

Crossing fingers for tomorrow .... Peace :D

exacccctly!!!
