Why would you expect hardware at a developers conference?

I'm absolutely baffled why people have been expecting hardware
Well Apple used to announce the new iteration of the iPhone every WWDC. It wasn't until the 4S debut in 2011 did they switch to Fall rollouts. Not to mention the first MBP with Retina was announced at the 2012 conference.

But yes, seeing as how that has become Apple's trend as of late, it is a little silly to now assume any kind of major hardware updates at the annual conference. It would be awesome though to get the iPhone 6 about three months earlier! :D:D

I would have liked the announcement for an App Store for the Apple TV, long time overdue if you ask me. Bummer.

Very surprising and unexpected - ObjectiveC is being replaced(?) by Swift.

At this point in time, "supplemented" would be a better description, although clearly they are hoping Swift catches on in a big way. Swift and Objective-C were stated to be interoperable and to be very easily intermixed.

I assume that ObjC will be phased out slowly? I can't imagine that iOS8 / OSX10.10 apps can be written in swift only? ObjC will still be supported for a while yet?

No reason to take away ObjC any time soon-- it is some new syntax and a new compiler front end.

you know me, I'm usually pragmatic and critical of everything. (i'm not against apple's products in any ways, I just like being critical of EVERYTHING).

But I actually am quite impressed by today's keynote.

There was a lot of meat here. Its questionable whether its' all good. i have quite a few questions about WHY certain directions were done, or why certain things were allowed.

But I dont think anyone in their right minds can deny that Apple actually put a lot of substance into todays presentation. A lot of good new to apple features.

Again, time will tell if it's for the better or not. But its going to take quite a few days /weeks before we can really delve deep into all the stuff announced today.

The only thing I was baffled about is the new Photos App on the Mac. Why would it take until next year for them to release that? How could it not be ready by fall? How complex of an application could it be?

Things they copied from Android:

Keyboard
Hey, Siri (OK Google)
Responding to texts in notifications (can do this on the LGG2)
Videos previews in the App Store
Photos/videos on the Cloud (except it's free on Google)

Am I missing any more?

Also, still no WIDGETS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Its all about pulling away andriod users to Apple. :D

My work phone is Android, never bought anything but Apple myself - so before you start trolling around, get yourself together. The presentation showed NOTHING that will move Apple into a new era of technological advancement. There was not one shred of new feature that makes Apple better than any competition. Stop being a fanboy, and be a sensible consumer using brain over "faith".
Well, software-wise there's plenty of very cool things here.

Hardware, sure I would have liked to have seen some new iMacs or even the fabled watch or tv. But those would not be 'that' original either.

The best WWDC I can remember, some HUGE new features here that will change the way iOS and OSX are used in big ways.

Nope he's right. If you watched the whole 2hrs and came away with NOTHING then the problem lies with YOU. But hey, feel free to keep telling yourself what you want. The rest of the world will be busy marching on with their lives.
