Exactly my point. all this time and they finally show up. I personally am fine with the standard keyboard. My point was that that's about all you're getting new in iOS 8. It was truly very slim on actual new features, inventive new features. Mostly just some regurgitated old Android features. Where's the Apple innovation??

there are lot more features that weren't discussed due to time...those little features in the background.

I think Apple is trying to pull a Microsoft on us and it will bite them in the ass just as it did MS.

Ditch OpenGL for ClosedMetal?
Ditch ObjC for a fly-in-the-pan "new" Apple-only language called Swift?

This is bad. Very bad.
Iamthinking.

Are you a developer? How could tools designed to make things easier be bad?

Isn't that the true "innovation?"

Stock losing more ... sure it will bounce... maybe. But whoever said that it is hardware that drives the numbers was correct - not much here to catch up with the Android dominance (sales figures) ... or the Chromebook threat (low end mac)... they can really only afford to do this (mac mini refresh...soooooo overdue) because Windows is struggling badly.

Very surprising and unexpected - ObjectiveC is being replaced(?) by Swift.

I assume that ObjC will be phased out slowly? I can't imagine that iOS8 / OSX10.10 apps can be written in swift only? ObjC will still be supported for a while yet?

Things they copied from Android:

Keyboard
Hey, Siri (OK Google)
Responding to texts in notifications (can do this on the LGG2)
Videos previews in the App Store
Photos/videos on the Cloud (except it's free on Google)

Am I missing any more?

Also, still no WIDGETS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I liked the ability to make and take phone calls from the desktop. That's the coolest feature out of all of them, even though there are some other great features.

But what's the issue with no new hardware announcements? I hate to be Mr. Downer but this quarter is going to suck in terms of sales if there are no new product announcements.

oh well. I guess we are going to have to save our money to buy at the end of the year.

It's traditional to have hardware anouncements at the WWDC but all systems shown in their slides were updated in late 2013. I can't see a refresh Macbook Pros before the Mac Mini moves to Haswell and they have the sense to make the iMac PCIe-Flash based across the board to put it inline with all their other models from the cheapest Macbook Air to the Mac Pro.

I really need to upgrade my MacBook Pro and I know the minute I click purchase they will announce something. My late 2010 MacBook Pro just can't handle CS6.

Calling/smsing through your phone while on a PC has been done since earliest Bluetooth days.

Think they've gone behind the bluetooth part though.

I know, I have used it back in my PC days, I like how the re-define the core of the service to enhance it.

The presentation streamed from Apple at full screen played without a hiccup. Amazing how streaming has improved over the years. :)

For all the hype that HEALTH book got pre WWDC it sure seemed that it got a fairly insignificant "spotlight" compared to some of the other things. All in all i just feel a lot better after this WWDC than I felt after the last one. Perhaps its just me :)

They are keeping it for the iWatch announcement later :p

Couldn't be happier with this software announcement, every feature that I hoped for.

So they're adding more features that we've already seen before on android.

All I can say is "about time"

Takes a lot longer to add some of these features without adding the awesome Android feature of CAN I HAZ MALWARE? Security takes time. Ask rocket developers about it. "Will this rocket launch? OK, will this rocket launch 100 times without blowing up?"

Wasn't looking for new Apple TV hardware .... But I was hoping to see what new Apple TV software they are developing.......

/sad

They are built on the same cocoa runtime and are completely interoperable. You can even mix and match swift and ObjC code in an app.

So, no, ObjC is not being "replaced" any time soon.

And what exactly would you have done better? Or better still, COULD you have done better?

Not nearly disappointed for the lack of MacBook Pros. Making rooms for Broadwell (?) September improvements maybe.
That being said, this was probably the best Apple keynote I have seen in recent years.
