Maybe a dumb question but what is the point of the wireless charging and the big appeal?

Is it that much better or time saver than taking a plug and placing it in your phone to charge?

Never understood the appeal of wireless charging but maybe I am missing some key pieces to it.

It opens the industry to future possibilities. Like wireless charging stations. They seem to be getting more frequent at sports venues. But imagine them at malls, restaurants, and other locations where you would typically spend a chunk of time. They probably exist in airports and I just haven't seen them.

Hold on. So ATT corp store, Bestbuy and Sam's club all charge an upgrade fee?

Darn. Might as well go ot the ATT store. I'm gonna try to night to see if anyone has any specials..but...meh. I doubt they'll credit the fee for me since I already have a $30/mo credit. Darn.

Sweet, just got mine a couple hours ago. I've been on the road so I haven't been able to load up all my apps yet, but here are my first impressions.

Build feels much better than previous Samsung phones, though still no where near apple, sony, or HTC.

The screen is beautiful. AMOLED was always the future of display technology, but ips was more mature and provided better quality. But it looks like the future is now, though it is on the warm side.

performance, everything is super fast and smooth, faster than my HTC One, though still a step behind my iPhone 5S.

Touchwiz, ugly as always. Already loaded up Nova launcher. Cool trick for anyone using Nova but still wants to use Samsung's "blinkfeed". Go into Nova settings and select gestures. Then select swipe up and select "my magazine". Now if only there was a way to fix the ugliness that is the notifications panel, though it's MUCH better than LG's, which only gave you enough room for like 2 notifications.

Fragmentation, yes its real, has veered it's ugly head again as HBO Go isn't compatible with this phone. Not holding my breath for an update and really disappointed.

Overall, I'm very happy with this phone so far, and it compliments my iPhone perfectly. Can't wait to get home and truly load everything up.

I do my upgrades at BestBuy, and always get my activation fees waived (I too, have ATT).

I ordered a Note 3 from T-Mobile on Wednesday night with overnight delivery and UPS just dropped it off...this is what they shipped it in. Wow. Just...wow.

DAMN. DAMN. DAMN!

Went to Sam's Club. They have it for only $288 (even for the Sprint version). But they had no black for ATT (at any Sams in my area). Went to the ATT coporate store, completely out.

I think I'll try my luck at Best Buy tomorrow after work!

On my Note 2, I've been using the stock web browser since it has the option for full screen and quick controls (slide in pie like gestures from the side of the screen). It looks like Samsung removed this in the Note 3. Can someone recommend a good web browser with full screen and gestures?

I got my note 3 today and so far its a mixed bag.

PROS: The screen is amazing, battery life is amazing, and the s pen is pretty nice! I actually found a use for it today!

CONS: So far i have had to restart my phone 3 times because it has frozen up. First was when writing in hand writing mode (I believe theres a bug thats being worked on?) next was in What's App, and 3rd was in snapchat. In all 3 instances the phone became unresponsive and I had to restart it.

Overall, the leather back makes it feel really nice. Yeah its not made out of metal but it still feels premium/business like. I think it feels great in the hand and enjoy using it!

I finally got myself a Note 3, I was a little worried about it. After seeing what US Carriers do to their phones I didn't know what to expect, I'd always bought phones direct from manufacturers.

I got it on contract with the English network 'EE'. No carrier logos on the phone, no carrier bootscreens when powering on, no built-in carrier apps. In the App Store there is an additional "EE Recommends" category, that's it. :D

Well, at least they're giving you the proper Samsung retail box, with all of its accessories hopefully. :p

Why is there no ear buds in the box for att? My iPhone 5 ones finally broke, now I need to get some new ones. Frustrating when you are spending $300.

And the app store is only because it recognises the sim nothing to do with carrier modifications :)

A lot of new released phones in UK & Ireland (first wave of them) tend to not have carrier modifications as they are trying to push them out to their customers ASAP after release.

A lot of the time you will also discover your handset is sim unlocked too.

It tends to be wave 2 after initial supply that get hit with carrier boot screens and additional bloatware.

Someone already got their Spigen Neo Hybrid case. I think it looks great. Just placed an order for one, same color (metal slate).

I owned note 2 before. Got to play with working note 3 at best buy (samsung experience) for a good 30 min.

Screen is definitely the biggest improvement over note 2. Speed is quicker obviously by but note 2 was plenty quick enough.

I'll see how much I can bargin att customer service into knocking down the 2 year price of the phone. I got them down to $100 credit to my account so in essence $199.

But honestly. I also picked up 32gb iPhone 5s gold verizon unlocked on att network last week and really like the improved camera on the 5S compared to 5 and 5S camera is better than Note 3/S4 camera.

I'll see what the nexus 5 pricing will be. I was going to buy all three phones (5s, note 3 and nexus 5 this season). But i think it will just be 2 phones and I am deciding between nexus 5 and note 3. If nexus 5 is anything close to $350 with 32gb off contract than that makes decision a lot easier. So I can save one upgrade for next year.

How is the note 3 camera in regard to the g2 and the z1?
Does it lag much behind? And how does it compare in low light? Specially with shots of people in low light?

Cheers!

If you have root, AOSP browser is always the way to go...I have it on my Note 3 and it's blazing fast. It also includes full screen browsing (without status bar) and quick controls.

They removed night preset but its still there just renamed, its in the settings menu as steady shot for some reason.

Otherwise its same as the S4.

Do you guys know about "one hand operation" mode that the note 3 has?

http://m.androidauthority.com/note-3-one-handed-operation-how-to-280458/

This is the first time I'm really hearing about it. Pretty clever, I think.

I played around with it and it works really well.

So Samsung figured out a way to deliver a larger (in this case, really large) screen/phone while still giving people the ability to use it one handed.

Honest question: what do Apple-apologists -- particularly those that are so fearful of losing "one handed operation" -- have to say to that? Can we finally admit that other OEMs are moving faster in this industry than Apple are? Isn't what Samsung is implementing more innovative than Apple just saying "nope, screens shouldn't be that big. Can't be used one handed. The end." ?

I'm really surprised this feature isn't mentioned more often. Is this new with the Note 3, or has this been around since Note 1 and 2?

I just don't understand the obsession with "one handed use". I think using any phone with two hands is more efficient, especially during typing.

Battery stats after proper usage for the first time. I finally watched some full length 1080p movies on the phone. The two steep drops are from this (total of 4h+ IIRC with the screen set to 90%+ brightness). Oh, and the movies look fantastic too :D

Overall I am very satisfied with the battery life. No more battery anxiety in the afternoon like I had with my SGS3.

EDIT #2: BTW, I just discovered that you can enable USB3.0 mode from the drop down menu for USB connections when you connect it to a computer. Transferring files to and from my SSD-equipped Vaio laptop is lightning quick now !!

It's useful when you are in a crowded bus or MRT train and have only one free hand for oeprating the phone. The best part is that the screen size is adjustable! Quite a well thought-out feature IMO. EDIT: I use it on and off during my morning commute to work.
