The Note 3 is clearly the best phone Samsung has ever made and one of the best phones extant. Unfortunately, it is too large for my purposes. An iphone 6 with a screen in the area of 4.5-5 and a far more mature iOS 8 and that would be my next phone.

I cannot deny that having an Apple store 10 minutes walk away from me, where I could get a speedy repair or an outright swap for an immaculate reconditioned phone ("reconditioned" with other phone manufacturers is hardly the same) is a huge attraction. The idea of mailing in my phone, be it HTC, Samsung or Sony is a huge negative.
I wonder if you can get Samsung replacements/service at the Samsung stores inside of Bestbuy?
OTOH ....my 3 month old S4 went blank the other day.....the video went out on it.....I went to the AT&T corporate store close to my house and they replaced it no questions asked.....

I picked up a Note 3 today as I've been wanting to leave Sprint for a while, and this thing is a BOSS completely in a league of it's own. Samsung literally upgraded everything compared to the Note 2. The black model particularly is VERY sophisticated looking and feels fantastic in the hand & very well built, something I could never say about a Samsung device before.

Oh, and the camera is outstanding, holy crap.

Got mine today.

All the anticipation, waiting game, and excitement.

I fully charged it and didnt even know where to begin.

Force stopped all bloat apps
Got my apps up and running
Messed with some settings

Now to find a theme I like on Buzz Launxher
Mess with the S pen some more so its not a complete waste
Try multi window out
Try not to drop it as my case wont be here for another week or so

What else does everyone do the moment they fire this thing up?

BTW, this phone is amazing coming from an S3. Speed and screen are beautiful.

You can disable all the unneeded bloat apps. Force stopping isn't going to do much as they'll restart after a reboot.

Didn't you just upgrade to a 5s?

Thanks. I'm really liking how minimal and thin this case looks. Placed an order for the black one.

Vampireszombies' case is the Neo Hybrid while Macrumoruser's is the Bounce. Not only are they different, their cost is quite different: Neo hybrid $24.99 and Bounce $10.99 (amazon pricing). Both are okay.

Yeah, I ordered both. I like the design of the neo hybrid more but I think the thin minimal design of the bounce might work better as an everyday case.

I've read from a couple people saying the cutout for the s pen on the neo hybrid case isn't the greatest. That the pen rubs against the outer plastic bumper when being pulled out.

It figures. When manufacturers get cases out before the device has been released, often they may look good but there is usually something a little off. That's why I recommended a few weeks ago to get cheap case and wait for a good one. At present, some are happy with their Spigen cases. However, after many new cases are released, will they keep them?

For me, I still want to see an S view case. I really like protecting my screen. Like I said before, soon there will plenty of cases to choose from.

Patience is not this forum's forte (nor mine):D

Battery life on this thing is great. I'm on 93% and I've already clocked up 48 mins screen on time !!!

One issue I've had, the Samsung keyboard pen mode crashes they keyboard on me consistently.

Yet if I use the handwriting mode where you tap on the blue icon in a search field or text entry field, that works perfectly.

But yeah on the Samsung keyboard interface the pen / handwriting input is not recognised at all for me. And crashes.

Yeah it's great

Took mine off charge at 9am yesterday and didn't need to be charged til 9 today and I still got almost 5 hours screen time.

Spare battery kit arrives today too

Adder, thanks. The GN3 has a very decent camera, atleast for normal shooting.

There was an update for the Samsung keyboard a couple of days ago. Have you installed it? The Samsung keyboard does not crash in pen input mode now.

Anyway Direct Pen Input is all I use for pen input since I have SwiftKey set up as the default keyboard. The combination works just fine, including the handwriting recognition in dpi mode.

And yeah, the battery life rocks!

Yeah I have that update. It just crashes on me all the time. And when this box opens and I write in it... absolutely NOTHING happens - only that it then hangs/stops working and crashes. .....

Ok fixed!!

After bit of exploring it seems to be because my language is set to English (Irish) where if I change to English (United kingdom) it doesn't crash or freeze and works properly.

Note 3 spare battery kit has arrived and it works with USB 3.0

Where did you purchase that from? I would really like to get it. I saw a site that had one that said it was an official note 3 battery pack. I checked online at the Samsung store and saw one for a camera, but not one for the Note 3. I am ready to use this 50% off under $50 from Samsung lol

Got it from mobile fun here in the UK..

My note 3 charges at 1.2A using the supplied charger/usb 3.0 cable or my existing samsung chargers/micro usb cables...my note 2 charges at 1.8A... I don't see any "faster charging" at all since its no where near 2.0A

I used the "galaxy charging current" app to check, can you guys confirm?

thanks

I've had nothing but exemplary service from AT&T. It mirrors Apples great service, together I've never been disappointed.

Does anyone know how to use the s pen for handwriting in the stock email app?

I finally realized just hovering with the s pen on Swiftkey would let me write it out versus typing but cant seem to find that option in the email app even when hovering.

This phone is beautiful. The screen quality is outrageously good. So good i think I had it to bright last night in a dark room and when I pulled the phone away I couldnt see anything lol

Mistyped.I meant disable.

I did all the ATT ones but left the Samsung ones on as may actually give some a try this time.

Some i was afraid to touch because I didnt want to mess anything up.

What are the main ones?>

Works for me in stock email. I just click with the spen in the typing field and then start writing.

I love this phone. I haven't had phone love in ages but I am smitten with the note 3 and I love it's size despite reservations before hand. I have no trouble operating it and most of the S-Apps I hated on S4 because they felt cramped like S-calendar work amazing on the Note 3.
