Works for me in stock email. I just click with the spen in the typing field and then start writing.

Hmmmmmm, this isnt working for me.

I wonder if its because its my work email and it had to be encrypted to place on the device.

Well that sucks.

So I decided to go my local Tmobile Store and tryout the N3 . I bought it because I liked the productivity capabilities and wanted to test out the features . Love at first touch! The iphone5s is great but the N3 does is So much more. Since I'm in School it's perfect for me. Easier to take notes, attach files, and true multitasking. Literally just sold my 5s .

Getting the N3 on Thursday as my business phone. Any recommendations for productivity apps including flight apps like tripit? Or is the TripIt app for Android decent enough, as is?

Might want to consider Papyrus versus stock S-note or whatever the on-board app is.

Make sure you've got the feature enabled.

Go into any form entry (like Chrome browser) and get the Samsung keyboard to pop up. Tap the gear/settings button to left of keyboard. Ensure that "Pen Detection" is toggled on. Go back to keyboard, then long press the settings button again. A list of icons should pop up including a pen with a letter next to it. That's your handwriting recognition feature.

Also ensure that you got the most current Samsung keyboard update that came out shortly after product launch. The handwriting recognition feature had an outdated license key and needed to be updated to enable this feature.

anybody experienced weaker signal reception on the N3? Last night I check it against a S4, side-by-side, and its showing a weaker signal, like -97 vs -86 db...

I wondering if its just me or a common issue.

I have seen different phones from the same carrier get varying signal levels.
Try doing a side by side speedtest app comparisons with your S4 and N3. Try WiFi tests and cellular speed tests. I think you will see it will all even out in the end.......

For me it's a carrier issue

I notice the iPhone 5s received more bars compared to the Note. In my apartment I have no bars but outside I get 4 or 5 bars on the iphone. The not I noticed just two bars. Data and voice calls where still the same performance wise.

I would never trust Apple and their signal bars.
They have changed them too many times just to show more signal when nothing else hardware wise was done.

I believe the 5s has better radios then most Android phones. Havent tested the Note 3 but the S3, S4, Note 2 and now the G2 cant get data or drop into 3G in places my 5s gets full on LTE. Im on Verizon.

You need to update your roaming towers on your Sim. Go to Verizon and ask for a new Sim card

You most def have and old prl number on your Sim.

PS Qualcomm makes the 4g radios and right now the note 3 and a few special advanced gs4s have the latest modems in them.

To be more specific the LTE advanced gs4 is the latest 4g modem from Qualcomm

I got a new Sim card with each phone, I never once swapped them.

Go tell them to update the prl numbers on them before you could force updating roaming towers by dialing a number but it will fry your Sim and you need to have the store do it.

I spent hours on the phone with tech support when my cell had crappy service and the guy told me to get an updated Sim prl number

You can have 2 brand new Sims that were programmed for another area and have one cell trying to hit a tower 50 miles away from the other cell even though both phones are sitting next to each other

For me the Note 3 has vastly better phone reception and call quality / strength over both Z10, One & S4 that I've had in past four months. Even it black spot areas where all the others dropped calls the Note 3 managed to maintain the call and I haven't had a single drop call from it yet.

Im running Swiftkey, not the Samsung keyboard.

The features work in Chrome, Handcent, almost any other place to enter with an S Pen. Just not my work email on the stock email app.

I am amazed at how much of an upgraded camera is on this thing versus my S3.

I took some pics of my son yesterday running around and messed with all the settings and very impressive.

Now in lowlight where I heard it underperforms will be another test.

Overall, this is easily the best phone I have ever used. The screen gets so many "what is that??!?!" per day its crazy.

The photos this thing takes are great. I'm selling my GTI, went down to the beach to take some pictures for the ad, and forgot my sd card for my RX100.

This thing performed great.

I saw people asking earlier since the release about Otterbox releasing cases for the Note 3 and they have been listening. Here is the link for anyone interested. They are not available yet but coming soon.

Looking foward to seeing how the Commuter case looks on the Note 3. I'll probably be getting one of those when I finally get my phone.

For anyone thinking about getting an Otterbox, I can heavily recommend them - their customer support is superb, absolutely second to none. I broke the Commuter case I had for my iP4S twice, and both times they sent me a replacement in less than a week (and I live in Sweden). The second time they even sent me a bonus case because there had been a slight hiccup with my address. Best customer service I have ever encountered.

Otterboxes are so ugly and bulky IMO

Sure they protect the device but they look god awful and add so much unnecessary weight to the phone.

Sadly there arent many quality cases out there right now.
