What is your battery usage statistics ? I'm getting great battery life. I had over 3 hours screen on time yesterday and with calls, Bluetooth audio usage etc, lots of memo and scrapbooking and drawing in sketchbook. I was still over 55 battery remaining at end of the day.

Maybe you have a rouge app using up battery ?

I'm on a custom ROM with most, if not all, of Samsung's services and apps disabled or removed. I've been using BetterBatteryStats to try and find what's really eating at my battery and I can't find anything. I've also tried disabling both GMD SPen Control and Sidebar which didn't seem to have an effect either.

It may be the battery itself, or maybe the software...I would wait for some more ROMs but I think I'll be selling the Note 3 off. Hopefully the N5 will have some decent battery life.

Sounds like the custom rom itself may be the issue.

Yeah there must be something going on because I can't kill mine even if I try all day. Beauty of the note is that for 30 bucks you can get 2 spare batteries to hold you over. My suggestion would be to restore to factory settings and try it for a day with no new apps. If the trouble goes away it was probably just software.

Anyone know why the note3 on Attached has tabs in the settings and the Verizon version does not? Just curious...

1 hour 20 mins of screen on time and only 10% battery used !!! Loving battery life on this device.

Anyone know why sometimes when I click on the Home button the magazine sometimes come up and sometimes it does not? I actually do not want it come up...the tutorial shows that you swipe up from the bottom to bring it up, not use the Home button...

If you press home button on the main home screen it also launches Magazine.

so i've had my note 3 for about 4 days now. just some quick thoughts.

  • i went from the iPhone 4S and let me tell you, this phone loads everything so much faster with no lag whatsoever
  • the screen looks big at first (of course) but i'm already really used to it. it literally makes the 4S look like a toy if you compare them side by side. i don't see how i ever used a screen as small as the 4S's now
  • camera is fantastic. only disappointment is low light conditions
  • 4K is a huge huge plus for me. it looks so so great and it's amazing to be able to record 4K straight from your everyday phone
  • i LOVE having 3 gigs of RAM. i can open one app, open a ton of apps throughout the day after that app, and still go back to the first app i opened earlier without having to wait for the app to restart. it's makes things so much faster and smoother.
  • 3G and HSPA+ was always pretty good for me but having LTE is just great
  • The screen looks great and is super clear. It can get pretty bright too which is a plus.
  • I noticed that the sensor that detects the lighting in your surroundings to automatically adjust the brighting is a bit delayed. It's kind of annoying because the 4S's sensor would change the brightness without me even really noticing it but the Note 3, I have to wait often times for it to adjust.
  • Battery is pretty disappointing for me. I've been using the phone pretty heavily but still, I was expecting better.
  • Although the camera is great like i said above, i wish it could take pictures faster.
  • haven't really used the S Pen. worked great when i did use it though.

Put it in sport mode

Battery life disappointing? For one that's one of the best features.

I concur with everything you just said.

Yesterday was my first full "normal use" day with the phone. I didn't fiddle with it near as much as I did Thurs and Friday.

My battery went dead around 6P after leaving on a full charge at 6A. My iPhone 5 would have died by 3P under same circumstances so that's def an improvement.

The camera is useless in low light conditions, and it can't do anything but 4:3 ratio in anything higher than 9.6mp. If you want 13, you have to go square. Very disappointed in speed of camera as well (Processing.......), but I'm not willing to give up until after seeing if an update can return the Note 2's very serviceable low-light mode.

I'm also getting an inordinate amount of app errors....even the Google stuff craps out unexpectedly. Maps died 2-3 times yesterday while routing me to destinations.

On plus side, the one-handed mode is...well....handy and I'm actually now a HUGE fan of the Gear watch. It's not perfect but does show great promise assuming more developers are attracted to optimizing adjunct apps for it.

I definitely need to find a better email app. The stock one is awful, although if I drop it, I lose my Gear alerts.

Happened to go down to Changi airport today, and I thought I'd take a few interior shots with the GN3 while waiting.

Battery stats from earlier.
The small 'charging' segment is from when I transferred about 10GB of files to the phone when it was connected to the USB3.0 port.

Overall, I have zero complaints about battery life on this beast :D

I bought this phone after maybe like five years of iPhone usage and I must say that this is the best decision I've made it is the best phone ever the battery life application I mean I cannot believe how much I was missing by using iPhone and how much of anything you can do on Android

So, I take it you prefer the camera on the iPhone ??

I'm thinking maybe buying the G2. I like the Note more because of more RAM, blocking mode and the back material, but it's just too big for me I think.

Nice pics:)

The battery life of my note 3 has been impressive for its size and the screen it has to power. Are you guys leaving all the bloat running, brightness maxed and all detection modes on?

Also have you given the phone calibration time to adjust to make the gauge accurate?

I'll tell you what after picking up the note 3 I won't be going back to Apple. Apple can stick it with their little 4 inch screen. I wear baggy loose pants and I haven't had a problem with the large screen fits fine in my pocket.

The downside of this phone is that the factory setup has nearly 85% of the RAM in use out the gate. You want to get the Note 3 running prime you need to root it (may void warranty if Knox program flags it but it didn't on mine)

Here's a list of apps I have froze on the phone via sd maid:
Scloud backup
Bloomberg+
Bluetooth Share
Blurbcheckout
ChatON
Qualcomm.timeservice
Flipboard
Gear manager
Hangouts
Help
KLMS AGENT (Knox)
KNOX agent
KNOX app container
My Magazine
NFC service
S Finder
S Voice
Samsung Apps
Samsung backup provider
Samsung calendar sync
Samsung Cloud Data Relay
Samsung Cloud Quota
Samsung contact syncAdapter
Samsung Hub
Samsung In App Purchase
Samsung WatchOn
Story Album
Story Album Widget
Try air move
Yahoo Finance

No joke this freed up literally about a gig of memory. I felt like I purchased a HP COMPUTER

Really? I've only disabled the eye racing tracking stuff and usually my phone sits on around 1GB of RAM used.

I haven't disabled anything 'yet' simply because the phone hasn't coughed, spluttered or hiccuped on me once.

I installed nova set it up just like my touch wiz layout but found unlike other devices I've had it didn't offer any smoother experience over touch wiz on note 3 so I ended up just uninstalling it.

My opinions on touch wiz especially the gui are known, yet for some reason on the Note 3 I find myself going with it and enjoying the ride.

There is not a stutter, or a hiccup to be found on this device, even with TouchWiz. This device is smooth as butter. Dare I say, even as smooth as the iPhone 5S? Heck, even Samsungs keyboard is awesome, and I usually gripe about their keyboard to no end. I was a little uneasy about buying this phone off contract at first due to the high price. But after a week of use, I'm so glad I did! The size is taking some getting used to, but the display is second to none! Anyone who's sitting on the fence thinking about getting this device, just do it! This is easily the device to beat in 2013!
