Galaxy Note 3

We will wait... Simples.

To be honest after 4.1.2 to 4.2.2 and 4.3 the differences perceptible to the user after a manufacturer has skinned the device so heavily is really quite insignificant in my own experience.

And at the rate 4.4 is taking to come out I don't think we need to worry about 5 for at least another 6 months, possibly longer.

So ill just continue to use my Note 3 which offers me blazing speeds, performance and a whole load of customisation that is not in stock android right now and won't be worrying about 4.4 or 5. Being the latest version junkie has had the novelty utterly worn off at this stage for me.

Well the difference were huge under the hood and 4.3 really improved on androids biggest problem, lag! So I would like to have the latest... Are there custom roms that still have all the Samsung features?

You can wait and get disappointed like the note 10.1 owners who never received an update

I noticed no appreciable difference in 4.3 performance wise.

We're you tapping to focus, and perhaps setting had changed from centre weighted focus to matrix.
Hmmm. I'll have to run another test. Although I've seen other comments that say the iPhone produces sharper / less blurry pics than most Android phone cameras. I guess I was hoping that the Note 3 might be better in this regard.

On a side note, I'm also curious to see how the picture quality of the Nexus 5 compares to the iPhone 5s.

Maybe a weird question, but without a case do you guys go face down or camera down when placing it on a surface?

I cant tell if there is a lip of protection on the camera side.

Yes,I have OCD. :D

if laying on the back, the lens of the camera won't be touching, only the bottom edge by the flash...

I bought the wireless charging back plate, it is slightly thicker meaning the camera now longer cones into contact with the surface. So I always put down on its back.

Any of you guys rocking a certain screen protector that doesnt kill sensitivity or S Pen function but keeps scratches at bay and fingerprints minimized?

That said, I find little difference in the low light performance of any of these cell phone cameras (except the Lumia 1020 to some extent)....IP5, IP5s, GS4, GN3, HO..all look like crap..just the degree varies ..from pathetic to miserably pathetic.

Forget low lighting, most Android phones cant even do indoor lighting right. Went to a car show over the weekend, I have the 5s, one of my roommates has the S4 and one has the HTC One. It was indoor flouresent lighting and my shots of the cars came out perfectly exposed and the correct white balance. The S4 pics had a yellow tint to all of them and the One kept underexposing, especially in the shadows. I'll post pics as soon as my roommates send me theirs.

For those who already have the note iii, how do you rate the ability of watching movies on it? Or tv shows? For those who use subtitles, are they easy to read?

Watching movies, TV shows, and playing games are great on the Note 3, one of the main reasons I wanted a larger phone. And now that HBO Go has been updated, all the major streaming services work on it. Definitely recommend if that's one of the main things you'll be doing on the phone.

I haven't tried subtitles though, so I can't comment on that.

Make sure to post it in the S4 or One thread since this is the Note 3 thread.

Still at it I see. You should put the same amount of energy in letting Apple know how they can better your iPhone. Why worry about all these other devices you'll never own? Lol

Ive owned at least 10 Android devices over the past few years. I am always interested in following them. Just played with the Note 3 again today actually

This camera thing is a real concern (for me, anyway). I want a larger screen than Apple will give us so I'm considering an Android device -- otherwise I'm fine with iOS. But the iPhone seems to better in the camera department *overall* than most of the Android phones. Unfortunately for me.

Just received my bounce case made by spigen. They were taking way to long to ship the neo hybrid case so I cancelled my order and ordered the bounce case through amazon prime.

It took me a couple tries to get the holes to line up with the cutouts but once they did, I have to say, I'm really looking this case. Thin, light, and no added bulk. Power and volume keys are covered and have a nice feel and click to them when pressed. Will stick with this case for now until someone comes out with another tpu case with a nicer design. Don't really like the square pattern on the back.

For me, same. That neo-hybrid looked slick. However, since this phone has such a beautiful screen, I'm a little concerned that I need a case that covers it. So, I will skip the hybrid and get a wallet -type.

On smartphones, starting with the original iPhone, I haven't used a screen protector. They just seem like they would hamper the touch screen. Add to that a pen enabled screen and it seems like it would be even worse?

I was looking at the Spigen and some other glass ones. The salesman told me you can't remove them after installation, is this true?

No that's not true at all. They are just like any other screen protector, don't take advise from that sales person again they clearly haven't a clue.

Which colour bounce ? I have both the grey & black but actually don't like the black one as much. I find the grey looks better.

That being said I can't use either with the official Samsung wireless charging back.

My Note 3 is great, but it's very difficult to remove my sim card. In fact, the only way I know how is to use scotch tape to pull it out. Anyone else? I could possibly file down the sim?
