Well guys I tried to justify getting the Note 3 but I couldn't ....... so I just picked up a Verizon Note 3 today :D

The best part about it, I was able to port my number over from Sprint with no hassle, now I just have to deal with the early termination fees and put my S4 up on craigslist.

First impressions, wow the screen is gorgeous.

I'll post my thoughts later but right now my Texans are playing and Case Keenum just tossed a TD :D

Nice! I tried to get it on another network because they offer unlimited data for £15 a month. Sadly I failed their credit check and so I went crawling to the network I was already on. I tried to buy out my contract but they refused to because I wasn't over the half-way point. So I had to add a 2nd phone to my account. Next month Ill end my S4 contract and cancel that, but they won't let me keep that number, which is a little sad, I've had that number since I first got my iPhone back in 2007.

I ran into the same problem with trying to cancel my line with Sprint. I explained how I was constantly roaming due to their poor coverage and the lady kept pulling up my home address in Houston telling me that I'm blanketed with LTE coverage. After 20 minutes later, explaining to her that I also live & work in West Texas, she said I didn't qualify for my line to be terminated because my roaming usage didn't pass a certain mark.

I think what I'll do is keep my Sprint S4 with me and just turn it on when I'm out roaming so I can qualify for their "certain mark" usage or whatever the hell that is.

Anyways I'm stoked that I got the Note 3. I'm amazed at how light it feels

After being pretty disappointed with the G2's battery life, I must say Im highly impressed with the Note 3! This is just after one full charge too. Was hammering on it downloading apps, web browsing, games, Youtube, texts, emails, calls. Brightness was around 80%. Mostly wifi with some LTE mixed in. Loving it so far.

Yeah I got over 4 hours screen on time today with loads of use and about 16 hours on battery and still had over 40% left on battery. :)

----------

It crashed for the first time about 2 hours ago, I had my phone in landscape in the Car Cradle, trying to select a playlist, the playlist I looked in was empty, then it wouldn't let me back out. Then the whole thing came crashing down.

Yeah it crashed on me a few times not sure why so o uninstalled updates and so far it is behaving. I assume latest update might be a bit buggy.

I didn't realise deleting updates however also removes my downloads from all access. Meant I had to re-download a dozen albums too.

Did all that on battery today :)

I neither like or dislike your post. I'm sorry if you think it had any emotional impact.

I just don't agree.

You clearly haven't used other devices with better speakers. I love my Note 3 but the speaker on the S4 is louder and the boom sound speakers on the HTC One have far more quality and definition.

If you haven't used a HTC one that's your issue not mine. Anyone here that has will testify that boom sound packs far greater sound definition than any other phone out there. Boom Sound may not be any higher in audible volume, but the clarity of the sound is much superior.

Does that mean my Note 3 is trash? No. Its a fantastic device, but I was asked for MY opinion of how the Note 3 compares directly with the S4 & One, and I gave MY honest experience of actually owning those devices.

You can disagree with me and say the Note 3 speaker is great, no problem. That's YOUR opinion, which has NO impact on MINE.
You assume much, that's a common mistake of Demi gods
Enjoy yourself

I really, really wanted to like this phone. It has a beautiful screen!

But, after extensive fiddling around with it I just can't get it.

Not a fan of the Samsung layer. Not a fan of the humungous fisher price icons on the screen.

I've been running a Galaxy Nexus for the last 2 years. Rooted and Rom'd since day one. Don't feel like doing that anymore.

If Samsung released a pure Android Note 3 I'd be all over it.

Getting an iPhone 5S this weekend.

Question.

On my Lumia 920 when i connect to bluetooth in my car, it would read out my texts and let me reply through the car stereo. So far I can't get it to work with the Note 3.

It does read my texts but from the device and not through my car. Also to reply, I have to have no lock screen on and couple of other settings on or off.

Kind of a pain, since I'm in the car a lot.
Any ideas or suggestions?

Have you enabled car mode ?

Hmmm, not sure I follow your logic. You are willing to pass on a phone you can change the entire look of just by simply installing launchers and icon packs (that dont even require root) to take a phone with iOS 7 where you are stuck with the one look? I think iOS 7 looks more cartoonish than TouchWiz and the pastels are very feminine.

Yes I have. It reads through the phone and not through the car stereo. I downloaded an app that puts it in drive mode when it connects to my car, but it doesn't read through my stereo. It wouldn't be much of an issue, but sometimes my phone is in my pocket or backpack.

Also I'm not sure, but the S-View cover hampers it a little. Seems like I have to disable screen lock for it to work.

With my Lumia it's seamless. Just get in the car and not think about it. When I get a sms, it'll read it out through the stereo and ask me if I want to call, reply or ignore. Very convenient since I'm in traffic anywhere from 2 to 4 hours. Especially now since this stupid Bart strike.

I should note that it didn't work with my iPhone 5 either. Maybe it's a Windows Phone thing? I was just hoping I could find an Android App that would do it, so far nothing.

Thanks

I agree to an extent, but that just takes care of the home screen. He's probably still disgusted when he has to dig thru the settings or various home apps i.e phone, app drawer, messaging, etc.

Not a big deal for me since I don't spend most of my time in those apps anyways.

Valid point.

I suppose I could reconsider.

Still, not a fan of the build quality. Never had a problem with my Nexus so the plastic they use is durable. Just can't get over the silver plastic trying to look like metal thing they have going on. I like the feel of the back, but not digging the stitching trying to be leather look either.

I don't use a case on my phones - never have - so I would be looking at the phone all the time.

I agree but if they used actual metal and leather, the phone would be far too heavy and it would be a lot more expensive.

Anyone having issues with connecting to a Mac? Each time I connect the phone Android File Transfer says "could not connect to device". If I switch to camera (PTP) the computer recognizes the phone and I can upload pics.

No problems here using Airdroid on my iMac

Ok, I'm having this weird problem where samsung voice is being used instead of Google in navigation. Anyway to fix that?
